I came in prepared, knowing that the battle could be difficult. My main partners were Squirtle (which had Ice beam) and Chikorita with reflect and Ancient Power. My third was a lairon who knew rock tomb and rock slide for the slow down and flinch respectively. I mainly controlled Chikorita in the fight and had her use items and reflect, while the other two unleashed their super effective attacks. Man I loved the originals. Just got this game and can’t wait for a nostalgia trip. My first owned video game! Rayquaza was such a great character in this too, love how they wrote him.
Just dealt with the second fight and it's hard to say how many tracks out there slap as hard as this given what's at stake. Will say though, that Petrify Wand -> Agility x3 -> Helper Orb -> All Protect orb -> Empowerment Seed on Sceptile -> All Dodge Orb x3 -> All Power-up Orb -> Spamming Helping Hand (and occasionally pounce wand) meant that Mega Rayquaza went down fast without landing a single blow on any of my team. Side note: Steamroll is a blessing.
I beat this boss with Eevee[[male, nickname Blade, after my Glaceon in the main games, player]], Cubone[[male, nickname Bones, partner]], and Smoochum[[female, nickname Kaede]] and believe it or not Kaede really helped a lot along with Bones[[anyone who uses Cubone as either player or partner should know Cubone can learn Ice Beam, so yes Cubone can learn a move that can be useful in that fight]] and Eevee was a support unit in that battle.
I never played the original Rescue Team games. Explorers of Darkness and Sky were my first Mystery Dungeon games. So, when I played Rescue Team DX and heard that the super boss theme from Explorers was the final boss theme here, I was blown away. Or maybe that was Twister.
So... Rayquaza Round 2 was like this... Chikorita (Lv40) Pikachu (Lv39) Marill (Lv41) Hmm... Rayquaza has Hyper Beam, better counter it, especially in Round 2. -> Chikorita used Light Shield (half damage from special attacks) -> Pikachu used Discharge, 51 damage to Rayquaza -> Marill moved one step forward -> Rayquaza used Dragon Ascent WHAT?! -> Chikorita took 207 damage (A critital hit!) -> Pikachu took 122 damage -> Marill took 152 damage -> Chikorita fainted -> Pikachu fainted -> Marill fainted I got One-Turn-Knock-Out .... and it was satisfying finally facing a tough boss in Mystery Dungeon!
I wonder how much destructive force it took Rayquaza to destroy the falling star. Because an "apocalypse meteor" has to be at least six miles in diameter to cause a mass extinction...
I just finished the game three days ago. I thought I was going to have a hard time with this boss and use up a bunch of my reviver seeds, but I only used one and the rest of the boss fight was anticlimatic for me. Never made it to the boss in the original games though, so I can't really compare the Rayquaza from the original to the remake. Edit: Love the final boss music though. Also going through the dungeon was hard (mostly due to finding a bunch of monster houses), yet I manage to get through it in one try.
Man Ice Beam really can't save me from this guy anymore. I remember having both my Mudkip Partner and Absol just spam it for a quarter of his health while I did chip damage
I'm not a big fan of the regular boss theme, it's way too frantic for a thoughtful tactical strategy RPG. But this theme is perfect. You're staring the end of the world down with friendship as your weapon of choice, and this music captures that wonderfully.
Spamming blizzard with Cubone utterly trivializes this battle. Even if bosses recover from status quickly, those turns getting repeatedly frozen really add up.
If not for the miraculous Rain Dance, my 3rd water type party member (with Bubble of all moves), and my partner using the blast seed on its final breath, I would never have beaten Rayquaza.
I had Mudkip and Pikachu for this one… And a Farfetch'd that had joined me on a mission and I hadn't done anything else with but was really high leveled. 41, to be exact. I spammed Agility and that was a lifesaver. Still burned like four Reviver Seeds but the trek through the first 25 floors was BY FAR the worst of it all. The battle itself was nothing short of amazing, though. Also, I found it a little disappointing that this was the only fight this was used in. Where is it for the other really big ones???
First Battle: Almost had him (faints) really close. First Battle Redux: (Uses Smoochum with Ice Beam finish him after wind separate them) Huh? How did I do that?
From what I can tell here in the comments, although I have never played this masterpiece of a Pokémon spin-off, (which I really should-) Rayquaza seems to be to most people like the sans of this game, I'm not joking here either.
If you’ll ever play it! PLEASE play the originals first! Play Blue rescue team and the explorer series! The 3D mystery dungeon games are nice, but the FEEL and awesome storytelling of the originals are way better. And to me, much more challenging lol.
When you have to use double team to beat rayquaza because you never found the blizzard TM till postgame :( I was lv33 mudkip and my partner was a cyndaquil. Cyndaquil was the double team abuser :)
Oh man, that'd be awesome. But that means Rayquaza going Mega would be given since he's also a boss on Sky Stairway for the seven treasures/instruments. Oof...
So I just beat the rematch using Mega Salamence, Mamoswine, Articuno, and some mons I found on the way up (they all got oneshot). BLESS ARCEUS FOR ORBS
Can't wait for the next remake... whats that? It can't come before gen four remakes? Who cares, its one of the best games out there and has one of the best soundtracks out there.

*Rayquaza used Dragon Ascent!*
*Critical Hit!!*
*Helios (Charizard) took 219 Damage!*
*Oh no! Helios was defeated!*
Me: Oh.....they made the rematch even harder.....
this is scary for someone who can't even beat articuno in a rematch
magnemite literally on god did 200-250 a piece on rayquaza and wiped him out while me and my partner were trying to get to him
Man I loved the originals. Just got this game and can’t wait for a nostalgia trip. My first owned video game! Rayquaza was such a great character in this too, love how they wrote him.
0:31 this instrument that kicks in reminds me of Final Fantasy for some reason... great stuff
I think that’s an organ
I may be wrong though
"Cast aside all thoughts! Unleash every bit of your power!
With your life at stake... bring it on!"
-Lugia
For some reason when I was a kid whenever a Pokemon used Dragon Dance I would always imagine the Pokemon was dancing to this song
You can feel the insane energy coming off that man with the triangle. Like, imagine the saxophone guy got access to a stick and some metal.
Trapinch with the steamroll quality was my MVP in this battle.
Guess he Steamrolled in more ways than one.
Okay this is pretty lit.
I forgot about the other armless Foe who Fells
I beat this boss with Eevee[[male, nickname Blade, after my Glaceon in the main games, player]], Cubone[[male, nickname Bones, partner]], and Smoochum[[female, nickname Kaede]] and believe it or not Kaede really helped a lot along with Bones[[anyone who uses Cubone as either player or partner should know Cubone can learn Ice Beam, so yes Cubone can learn a move that can be useful in that fight]] and Eevee was a support unit in that battle.
Now can cubone learn fury swipes? If so I could link it ice beam and nuke rayquaza
Took me about 25 mins me as mudkip (female, Cordelia) and eevee (Female, Lee) and Absol, (Male, Roxas).
I never played the original Rescue Team games. Explorers of Darkness and Sky were my first Mystery Dungeon games. So, when I played Rescue Team DX and heard that the super boss theme from Explorers was the final boss theme here, I was blown away. Or maybe that was Twister.
0:31 TING TING TING TING TING
this is the perfect way to ruin the song, luckily someone was able to remove it.
@@runterranger7398 can you give a link, replacing the bells with old version bells would probably sound better
@@ppplant8279 no one replaced them, but someone did removed it if you want that.

So... Rayquaza Round 2 was like this...
Chikorita (Lv40)
Pikachu (Lv39)
Marill (Lv41)
Hmm... Rayquaza has Hyper Beam, better counter it, especially in Round 2.
-> Chikorita used Light Shield (half damage from special attacks)
-> Pikachu used Discharge, 51 damage to Rayquaza
-> Marill moved one step forward
-> Rayquaza used Dragon Ascent
WHAT?!
-> Chikorita took 207 damage (A critital hit!)
-> Pikachu took 122 damage
-> Marill took 152 damage
-> Chikorita fainted
-> Pikachu fainted
-> Marill fainted
I got One-Turn-Knock-Out .... and it was satisfying finally facing a tough boss in Mystery Dungeon!
Light Screen not Light Shield
Glad that didn't happen to my team.
I was shocked when it only took me one try to beat rayquaza and it was great with my 7 reviver seeds ( I can't spell if my life depended on me)
Same
I didnt also have reviver seeds so my pikachu had extremely low hp and i beat him on my first try!
I cried.
For some reason this music gives me nostalgia even though I never played mystery dungeon
i love this battle theme simple but cool I'm always a sucker for sky levels or dungeons games
I only just now realized this... It looks like Alakazam is trying to eat the berry that's in the ground with it's spoons
The rematch has so much HP, I honestly would’ve lost if I (Mega Charizard X) didn’t get blown right next to him from the strong winds
Why is there a tiny mario face in the background. WHY IS THERE A TINY MARIO FACE IN THE BACKGROUND?
Glad to see I'm not the only one who sees this.
Looks like a watermark
“Rayquaza used hyper beam!” *Missed* *Missed* *Missed*
D’OH I MISSED
Cloyster with Skill Link + Icicle Spear has never been SO MUCH FUN
I wonder how much destructive force it took Rayquaza to destroy the falling star. Because an "apocalypse meteor" has to be at least six miles in diameter to cause a mass extinction...
That intense violin at the start of the song... gets me psyched up EVERY time. 😤❤️
The real sky dragon was the friends we made along the way
old but gold
simple but beautiful
(im talking about the music)
The triangle is so loud. Was it always this loud? I feel like I'm getting pulled out of the song the same way the triangle in Yeah! pulls me out
I for one, welcome our Reviver Seed draining Legendary. It's a lot tougher than it was in the original.
Love the music
Spamming blizzard with Cubone utterly trivializes this battle. Even if bosses recover from status quickly, those turns getting repeatedly frozen really add up.
I love that this theme is just an updated version of the final boss music instead of a remix
It really didn't need any additions
This theme slaps, you cant change my mind
"The wind sweeps us away!"
Managed to get a Cloyster with Skill Link right before this fight. Yeah... it was over in 3 turns
If not for the miraculous Rain Dance, my 3rd water type party member (with Bubble of all moves), and my partner using the blast seed on its final breath, I would never have beaten Rayquaza.
Uuuh Rayquaza has Air Lock which nullify weather effects including powering up moves.
Holy fuck it has hiper beam dragon ascent and a lot of health
The first match wasn't bad since, but HOLY FUCKING SHIT that rematch is deadly, I STILL haven't managed to beat him yet 😤
At the start of the gam I was like "9 steps? That's a lot, what the hell is that dungeone?!" And then... this dungeon...
Please tell me this song also plays in other boss battles besides Rayquaza and Mega Rayquaza.
Ahhh yes, the theme of me spamming discharge
Ahhh yes, the theme of me using ditto.
Ah yes the theme of me beating rayquaza for the first time.
@@mudkip4101 bro did u know ditto is only lvl 25?
@@mudkip4101 and you can find ditto in buried relic to
I had Mudkip and Pikachu for this one… And a Farfetch'd that had joined me on a mission and I hadn't done anything else with but was really high leveled.
Well this theme is called Battle against Rayquaza
WTF There is a Mario Bros head at bottom left quarter during all the video...
pov you’re zinnia (you’re about to politely ask rayquaza for help)
i make my own pa- oh wrong game
I still can't defeat him in the rematch.
Idk if it's just the way these tracks are ripped, but the triangle is just too much. My head hurts from listening to a few seconds of it
This theme slaps change my mind
Slaps does not accurately describe the level of sheer power contained within these notes.
When you have to use double team to beat rayquaza because you never found the blizzard TM till postgame :(
I was lv33 mudkip and my partner was a cyndaquil.
Cyndaquil was the double team abuser :)
Hey, at least Cyndaquil never got hit right?
Awasome music i really love it.❤
So now that we have this, they *gotta* do gen 4 remakes and an explorers of sky remake at around the same time period, right?
Oh man, that'd be awesome. But that means Rayquaza going Mega would be given since he's also a boss on Sky Stairway for the seven treasures/instruments. Oof...
anybody else notice the mario in the cave near charizard and that spirit thingies?
Part of it sounds like the Run Away, Fugitives theme
Just as long as my Manectric was in good health and lots of elixers i just spammed Discharge and charge, beat sky tower and him in one try.
Watch out for Dragon Assent!
u can hear the original song too?
So I just beat the rematch using Mega Salamence, Mamoswine, Articuno, and some mons I found on the way up (they all got oneshot). BLESS ARCEUS FOR ORBS
There's a square mario there
It looks funny when Rayquazas Hyper Beam misses
DO NOT enter sky tower without an ice type
Me, an Eevee who is a special defense tank: No, I Don't think I will
*Brings along Cyndiquill and Absol*
I associate this theme with the legendaries of EOS to be honest
This thme is different than the boss themes that came before it. Wait what do you mean it was the first game in the series
I... am... the result of genetic experiments! Created only for fighting! The most powerful of the Pokemon
Can't wait for the next remake... whats that? It can't come before gen four remakes? Who cares, its one of the best games out there and has one of the best soundtracks out there.
