I think the Professor is awesome, but it seems strange to me that he is spending so much time on the concept of passing from your knees. There’s an interview from not long ago, where Roger Gracie explicitly states that he doesn’t think there’s anyone in the world who can pass his closed guard without standing. Now of course, that’s Roger. We aren’t him. And I’m sure that Mr. Sauer can do this to most of his students and most people in general, but if passing while standing is the objectively stronger method, and it takes away the opponent’s ability to break your posture and attack you in so many ways, why would we ever pass on our knees?
Great treatment of the subject. And I agree, Roger is pretty much the gold standard for me as well. This may be "just another tool in the tool bag" type of thing. Which is to say that perhaps it's not optimal, but that it may be what's best at a certain moment, depending on your energy, position, and how your opponent is reacting.
Amazing, just amazing. That is why Gracie Jiu Jitsu is the best Jiu Jitsu.
