@@MJMilano7 it’s a false equivalency argument. Yes, immigrants at the border sneaking into the country is bad but it hardly equals the kind of invasion Ukraine has experienced. Texas and other southern state borders do indeed have a challenge with the border but to my knowledge, there aren’t any cities in US that have been leveled, there have been no brutal deaths numbering into 100 000 citizens and soldiers, Americans have not lost their heat, water, and livelihoods remain intact despite the masses at the border. Americans can still go about their lives the way they used to. The guest’s comments was inflating the situation at the border in such a way that claimed the domestic border issue was more important to deal with than the invasion of Ukraine. The 2 aren’t even close is size and scope of damage created by each situation. Absolutely something needs to be done at Americas southern borders but that solution doesn’t need Patriot missiles, tanks, armory supplies, etc., like Ukraine needs. The guest’s rant also implied that nothing was being done in the US which is not factual. It’s a complex problem that has many fronts which the US is already trying to unravel to resolve. Unfortunately, there will come a day when it’s the Americans that look to cross southern borders as refugees. It could be due to climate change, internal war, or other catastrophe that make Mexico and South America more appealing. When that day comes, citizens of the US will do all they can to move south to better their situation. When that day comes, Americans will have a better understanding of why these refugees risk everything to come to a country that promises a better life. When the southern countries push back and treat Americans in the same way they treated refugees, perhaps then America will wish the border problems were handled with less hate, anger, vitriol, fear, and panic.

According to data from US customs and border protection, 65 murders have been committed in 2022 by undocumented immigrants. While tragic, that is less than than the 24, 576 homicides reported in the USA for 2022 by the CDC which means undocumented immigrants are responsible for 0.2% of homicides currently reported in the USA. Those numbers indicate that the US has bigger issues within the their on borders than at the border which requires more attention. If the guest on Cuomo’s show put as much energy and passion into addressing the non-immigrant issues, it might make a difference in people recognizing that immigrants - legal or illegal - are not the problem.
