I own the 1530H and have kept it regularly serviced. Nevertheless, the cutting / driving functions can break down on you at unexpected times. Quite common to have belts slip or break. Just spent two days (on and off, between other jobs) replacing the drive belt on mine (for the second time). My other quibble is the cutting height isn’t really high enough, even at the highest setting, and when driving with the cutters disengaged you have to be really careful if you go over any large-ish bumps as the cutters can grind against a surface. At the highest setting, the cutters struggle if the grass is more than moderately long, and it can end up straining the belt unless you slow to a crawl. I think that’s real design flaw and at times, I have to use my powered Mountfield walk-behind mower first, to get the grass to a level that the 1530H can cut. The engine seems very reliable, but I’ve been through two batteries now, and always leave it externally charging because even after an hour or two of running, I don’t think it charges adequately. I use a little fold out 12v solar panel just to keep the thing topped up and that works really well. I’ve not owned any other ride-on mower, but hope you might appreciate this honest experience from several years of owning this one.

Hi Mark, Thanks for the comment. Have you discussed the issue with your nearest dealer? If the belt keeps slipping there may be an issue with the pulley alignment, perhaps worth getting it checked. We often use Kevlar belts too for extra strength. I can't say we've had issues with people saying the highest cut is too low or hitting the ground, has it always been like that or getting worse?

@@brucklaygarageltd2832 that’s a good idea - will get that checked next time at service - the pulley alignment. Kevlar belt sounds sensible, given the job of getting the thing on! That makes huge sense to go for a better quality belt - great suggestion. No, it is always too low I feel. Mine is the 1530 H bought I think in 2013. So it’s not the very newest one - and maybe they have improved things?
Thanks also for replying, because I didn’t buy it from you, I was just busy searching while I had it dismantled, to see if I could find any more info about it.

@@MarkHarmer Yeah, I would suggest they check how the belt is running along the pulleys. The Kevlar tends to stand up longer, as long as it's running correctly. No problem, always happy to answer questions etc.
