The awakening for shadow is actually very easy to fight if you know what you’re doing. As any character, if you expect a chaos blast, then be ready to parry since you cannot dodge it. If they try to go for a finisher, I hope you weren’t in an m1 combo. As shadow, use the bike againts full power dash and if you feel like a cheeky chaos burst is bouta come out, back off and let them go into lag due to a miss or poke them with a chaos spear just to garuntee some sort of combo. Sonic can uh…yeah he can kick full power dash if you’re lucky. Other than that, don’t let shadow have a turn unless you’re confident (who am I kidding go crazy) Starved has grabs. _grabs._ use them to stop a full powers dash if you can time it, but eggmobile is better. Grabs can break through chaos burst easily, especially beating but do keep in mind they are not as strong as they used to be. Amy can throw her hammer at a full power dash if you’re good at the game, hammer slam can save you from cheesy chaos burst Knuckles, just hope to god flaming drill can best full powered dash. Chaos burst, back off and use spin dash or dash attack to get the upper hand. Lord X, counter the full powered dash. Chaos burst is a freebie bait to get some nasty moves off if you avoid it. X, counter full powered dash-but better. Chaos burst, get some of that rightfully earned hp back or commit to a combo. Tails, shoot em down or go for a grab for full powered dash. Chaos burst, just back off- shoot em’ , spin dash, grab, dash attack, boost, or go for the combo of ya dreams. And the awakenings of each character all have options besides starved, because they become a melee fanatic with only one grab that may or may not even be close to bear full powered dash in a small room. For starved, just don’t let shadow have a turn.
Because I’ve fought awakened shadow way too many times…if I ever make opinions on the others, it’s the same reason besides characters you have to pay for.
Helpful fact from fellow combo master: 1 has separate cooldowns from boosted and normal. You can do uppercut and sledgehammer them down in which they cannot ragdoll cancel and use 4 to get to the floor quickly and hit them with warp combo which brings them back into the air. Full combo does over 150 damage. (Without boost extenders) and both 2s are very good combo extenders. Powered 2's slam stuns enemy for a long time and normal 2 resets your m1.
Another helpful tip for combos on shadow, the boosted form of the bike in the air can make every hit of that attack land since shadow will also now fall down with their opponent.

_let me clarify this..the option to shot em down as tails only works if they don’t have any other options to get away left.._

Because I’ve fought awakened shadow way too many times…if I ever make opinions on the others, it’s the same reason besides characters you have to pay for.
