What they don't show you is the first pitch to Mitchell. A curveball for a strike at the top of the zone, clear as day, called a ball. Tough break in every way for that last batter.
Yeah I’m all for automatic strike zone next year! I’ve really realized it this year just how many times an umpire makes a wrong call in a game changing situation!
As I said in the highlights, this was a Stiebing with a pain level of (your call). 2 outs, 2 strikes, bottom of the 9th, and then the ball drops by a matter of inches.
I think that's a very earned hit to break it up. Center fielder left it all out there to just come up a little short. Such a great performance regardless.
@@ObiWanKenobi I mean the ball was coming down pretty fast and that’s only just hard ball to catch even if he went the right way it may have just dropped in front of him I mean idk I might be wrong but that’s what it looks like to me
Baseball is a game that will absolutely tear your heart out. It is often extremely unrewarding. When I was young, it was my dream to hit a home run in a game. I practiced for years and years, but it never happened. I was devastated. I’m sure throwing 99% of a no hitter is much worse.
I am sure there are some "unwritten rules" baseball people who are like "Cal Mitchell should have deliberately got out or at least not hit the ball so hard"
To Kev. E.: How far can people, players, and fans take this "unwritten rules" malarky? When one applies them to give solace to the opposing team, they turn glance and give guffawing grunts to the gullible -- making the *charitable remember* for the next time.
Always happy to see Mikolas still has fans in Japan. Us Cardinals fans owe a lot to the Giants and Kobayashi for the help developing our All-Star pitcher :)
What’s even more amazing is that he only stuck out only like what 5 batters and was one strike away from a no hitter?!?!?! That’s impressive! I Still feel like Bader is sooooo much better at coming in rather than going back so why have him in so far?
I can't believe they were still shifting in the 9th on a no hitter. You play straight up defense in the 9th no matter what. Jesus. Thank God shift will be banned next year.
How was this a no-hitter into the last inning when Yepez dropped the catch in left field in the 4th getting a runner on base and that runner then score?
Reached on error (with nobody out). Someone grounded/flew out and he tagged up or maybe he stole the bag. I didn’t watch the full game but that moved the runner from second to third (1 out, which we don’t see in the video). Then a groundout brings the runner home from third base (making 2 outs). Had that been third out, the run wouldn’t have counted which I assume you know…
Why was Bader playing so Shallow? There is no excuse for him being that shallow in that situation. Completely on Bader for not being in position to get to that ball. That should NEVER have gone over his head.
@@luismanuelsalgueirosobrino1852 I’m not going to lie, I don’t speak Spanish because I’m a retarded American, all I can say is that Bader was placed fine because bloop hits are very common in baseball, so imagine if he lost his no hitter due to a bloop hit.

As a big cards fan, this makes me so mad with the umps. It seems like all of them have made at least one bad call that cost a team a big win
As I said in the highlights, this was a Stiebing with a pain level of (your call). 2 outs, 2 strikes, bottom of the 9th, and then the ball drops by a matter of inches.
I watched the hit in slow motion 10 times bc i couldn’t believe how close it was

Shudda struck out. Umpire called strikes balls early in the AB.
No it wasn’t. He should’ve never even seen that pitch.
Bader should of playing no double defense and straight up. He is it's an easy out.
I've never been so heartbroken by a win in my entire life.
that's ok cards aren't going anywhere this year anyway
That is tough bro, I cant imagine what Miles felt when the ball flew over him
It's silly but I get emotional when I still see that fans love baseball
The umpires really need their vision rechecked. Angel Hernandez type play on a curve at the top of the zone being called a ball
Miles Mikolas is my favourite pitcher!
Love the horizontal red, white, and blue striped socks that Miles Mikolas is wearing ❤️🤍💙
I feel so bad for him...I think even the guy that hit that felt a little bad
0%. You never want to be no hit.
Harrison Bader must’ve felt bad for that major choke job on his route

As a cardinals fan, it makes me want to cry seeing Adam wainwrights face after that hit
Man I miss Danny Mac calling the Cardinals games!!
Had that been over the centerfielder's head, the Pirates would have been no hit for the second time this season, and the first legit one against them.
Well when you go cosplaying as Dave Stieb what did he think would happen lmao

being 1 strike and 1 out away and losing it always stings. great performance though.

So that mikolas doesn’t lose the no hitter because of a blooper
I miss former Rangers Miles Mikolas

If this happened to Joe Musgrove last year then I would’ve kms

let's be honest, he pitched against the pirates who are basically aaa
Doesn’t matter throwing a no hitter is stupidly difficult
the only response i have for that is
bruh

Manager pulled him in
shallow to prevent bloop hits
Check out my bat slam
How it’s a no hitter if it’s 1 to 9?
The runner reached on an error
Can't get any closer than this, but should it really count if it's against the hapless Pirates?
💔
😱
El jardinero central mal colocado.
No

He allows 1 hit and is pulled from the game. Not his fault the outfield can't make the play.
128 pitches man, plus it was tough play to make
That wasn’t an error that’s the gold glove that was a tough play he was playing shallow he wasn’t gonna let a blopper be a hit
Lol. Bader Is a stud. That would have been a top play of the year if he snagged that.
That’s a extremely hard play man
