The last two years has seen a complete transfomation in the fortunes of the club. Back in the Noughties the fans had to battle with a couple of gangsters to save the club. The fans finally won in the high court and secured the future of the club and football at the Racecourse. Ten years later Rob and Ryan came on the scene and they have such a great understanding of how important football is to people in Wrexham. Everyone is looking forward to what happens next.
Second best lol. The best North American owners are the guys who own Ipswich. There are 2 great 'American Takeover' stories happening, which involve damn good people. Another Sleeping Giant has returned, thanks to good American owners... #TractorBoys
The competition is not strong, to be fair. The Glazers are closer to what most people associate American ownership of UK soccer clubs than Reynolds and McElhenny.
@Abortionville Bluestate I think Wrexham have 2 big off-season friendly matches for that reason. They're already promoting themselves well. Wrexham need a good turnover or they can't really add any players next season(there's a 'salary cap'system in the lower leagues...according to turnover). But Wrexham aren't at the top of the game, as the London NFL teams are (I'm a 9ers fan for 40 years). If you follow Ipswich's fortunes you might enjoy the higher standard of footie. Ipswich are a larger 'sleeping giant'. And what the American owners did for us is magical. We literally had to win every game, for the last Third of the season. And that's what we're doing... The greatest 2023 'soccer comeback' - caused by good-hearted North American owners - is not Wrexham ;-)
I never knew about WREXAM Fc and it was only because of Ryan Reynolds I came to know about the club. Much support from India. I hope you guys get promoted to EPL in coming few years. Also, the way Rob and Ryan are supporting the team should be how other owners support the team. It's very hard to find such owners who are actually this much enthusiastic about the club.
As someone from North Wales, but in an area without a professional team, I grew up following both Manchester United and Wrexham. At the time, Wrexham was a good 3-4 hour drive away. Today it's more like 90 minutes because of road improvements since the early 80s. The contrast between the two sets of owners couldn't be more different. One club has American owners that are hated by the fan base for putting a previously profitable club into almost $1billion of debt and who are currently showing the greed that's become synonymous with wealthy Americans, the other has club has owners who have wiped out the club's debt, have been known to have a drink with the fans and are in it for the club and the community, not for themselves. There are other owners out there who do that but they don't have the profile of Rob and Ryan and that itself is actually worth more than the money they've put in.
@@daviddavies3637 Great comment David! There should be some kind of legal framework involved in club ownership to protect clubs from being used as mere cash cows by exploitative owners. Football clubs are not mere businesses and shouldn't be treated as such.
It's nice that North Americans get an insight into how passionate we get and how much identity is involved in supporting your local team. Idk what it's like in Canada and the USA but we live and breathe it on these islands. The glaziers don't understand why we are so upset in Manchester. Maybe take a look at Wrexham. Well done Wrexham can't wait to entertain you guys against United.
The Glazers are everything that is wrong with the system of football ownership in the UK. Fair play to Ryan and Rob, they are trying to do things right.
Ryan Reynolds is cheating paying players with overinflated wages and their is no FFP in National league and not until you reach Championship. Ryna Reynolds is doing a Mansour without FFP resytriction its not fair its called rigging and having unequal advantage.
@Gypsy Chicken I think it's more the history, mate. Nobody would call for a murderer's grandson to be jailed, after all. Nobody's hating you over it lmfao
@Gypsy Chicken invasion, war, attempted eradication of culture and economic exploitation so pretty much the same as the rest of the UK & Ireland historically.
For that Canadian fan in the red cowboy hat, there's a total example of sports being larger than the game for a community, and that is the New Orleans Saints, especially post-Katrina. Congrats to Wrexham FC for the win and promotion! I chose to follow them after watching Welcome to Wrexham several months ago after never following any European team before. There are many parallels b/w the stories of Wrexham and New Orleans with regards to not being good teams for so long, so naturally it felt like an obvious choice to choose Wrexham. I wish them only the best going forward. For context: the New Orleans Saints were founded in 1967, they didn't have their first winning season/playoff appearance until 1987, first playoff win until 2000, and first (and only) Super Bowl until Feb, 2010.
I would say also the Green Bay Packers in terms on community involvement and spirit. They've been a public, not-for-profit team since the early 1920s. The old hockey teams of the 50s seemed to have similar spirit. (not OHL, EHL, AHL, QHL, etc).
@@hillaryn.1114 Lol, well, y'all have won a bunch of more Super Bowls than we have (I mean, the SB trophy is named after Vince Lombardi), and y'all have always consistently been one of the better clubs in the AFL/NFL. Let me share with you this link about what the Saints have meant to NOLA since Katrina.ua-cam.com/video/FM2sAJpyO3I/v-deo.html&ab_channel=NFLFilms
There are parallels but there are also differences. Imagine if the New Orleans Saints had started in the MFL, and had to fight for promotion to the NFL, before winning their SB. That would be quite a story. Like Leicester City FC did in the Premier League a few years ago, at 5,000/1 bookies' odds. You can see in the post match footage of the Wrexham vs Boreham Wood match, that winning the cup was a nice bonus, but very much secondary to getting promoted. It's a system which adds such drama, and encourages backers to want to invest in a buyers market and develop a small team. I would love to see it adopted by the MSL, at least, It won't happen though, because Gigga-rich hedge fund investors don't want to see their teams get relegated. They want a job for life and a guaranteed place in the MSL or NFL or NHL or NBA or whatever, no matter how bad their team sucks. American teams sit in their leagues like it's their birthright to be there. It's UnAmerican. It's not a meritocracy. It's socialism for billionaires. Pro/Rel 4 USsports!!
I'm a British football fan, but the USA does have it also, there are so many clubs in the NFL that are old clubs and clubs for the fans Packers as said above and the Broncos, my team as I said. Sure some are huge clubs, but they are local
There isn't a big difference between the National League and League Two. If Wrexham are able to gain promotion from there, that's when the challenge really starts as there are several big clubs in League One who have fallen on hard times. The highest Wrexham have ever been is the old equivalent of the Championship, one step down from the Premier League.
I love a good story, coming from a Liverpool fan here :D Hope they get into the Prem one day, it is a very long road though and will only get harder. But with promotion comes more players willing to talk to the club.
Love the joy expressed by Wrexham locals and overseas visitors. Sport is uniting people, but more importantly, uplifting the spirit and economy of a Welsh town is even more joyful! 🐑🐑🇳🇿🇳🇿NZ
They're spending money but they're also making that money go a lot further by making the club a name brand around the world. Revenue is up massively too. Superb marketing.
It's amazing that a comedy writer/actor went and used basic Internet available information to work out the best club to buy and take forward and Wrexham were the top of the list. I wonder how many clubs around the world have that same potential with the right investment. If anything I hope this inspires entrepreneurs with some means behind them to adopt a similar relatively simple approach of how to build a club. Obviously covering your losses and building a bigger profile using your chairman's celebrity is a brilliant tool to have but the blueprint for success is there for all to see

Is it just normal to allow/encourage 10-16 year olds to openly curse in the UK for football chants. Like is there a special rule that if it's in a football chant it's okay for 8 year old Max to chant along with the curse words. (i.e. "F*** you County, we're gonna win the league" and "...shagging all the sheep")
Yeah it's completely normal. The British attitude to swearing is completely different to that of North America. For example the word $hit is not even considered offensive and you will hear it on prime time television.
I read about a dad once who took his young son to his first football match. He warned him that there's football language and everyday language and he should never mix the two up.

We've got 7,000 season ticket holders and a capacity of 10,500 at the minute, so the vast majority of fans at home games are locals. The hardest thing is getting tickets for away games when you get an allocation 1,300 and 3,000 want to go
@@gilesjones3626 i mean in the future though. The average wrexham fans experience from 4 years ago vs where they will be in 10 years will be a different world. I can identify with what you're saying. I live a quarter of a mile from the ground. I'm a member, but don't have a season ticket because of the shifts I work. Whilst it's great to see my club so well supported, it kind of sticks in the gut that I can't get a ticket for games, whereas bandwagon supporters can. Hopefully when the Kop is redeveloped, I'll be able to see my home town team again. Again, it's great to see so many people becoming supporters of Wrexham, but let's not forget about the local fans who have suffered through the hard times the club has gone through
Or proof that a couple of extremely wealthy people could use their vast sums of money in a good way that benefits the lives of everyone else in a community instead of buying a bunch of useless stuff
Everyone who knows him says what a lovely guy he is. I think it's just his character. He isn't as good as expressing his feelings as Rob is and wants to joke around a lot more to hide his insecurities, so it sometimes comes across as a little bit off.
He is always joking, but I think he doesn't want the personal side to show. We the public don't get to decide how he carries himself. I think he is fine, this venture carried some risk - he is more than ok in my books.
What a strange take. Wrexham deserve their success, thousands stuck with them in the dark times. The fact new people are attracted to the club because of the exposure doesn't change that

As a wolves fan been watching Wrexham it’s been fantastic well done.
HurrayWreham AFC 🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽
They must be pretty jazzed right now!
This is absolutely adorable, I love this place.
"Because of the sport and Ryan..." Thanks, Toronto Woman
When she said "The future of the world is our oyster"... I thought she said "The future of the world is our rooster!" LOVE the accent.... and love Wrexham!
The girl with the specs...cute as F!
Totally is.
Ryan reynolds is a potential buyer for my citys hockey tema. This gives me hope. Im thinking a Senators/Wrexham cross promotion would be great.
lmao the sign leaning into shagging all the sheep hahahaha
Right?!
She's Ace hahah
Is it just normal to allow/encourage 10-16 year olds to openly curse in the UK for football chants. Like is there a special rule that if it's in a football chant it's okay for 8 year old Max to chant along with the curse words. (i.e. "F*** you County, we're gonna win the league" and "...shagging all the sheep")
Pretty much.
I think for a lot of young people it's okay at the football but not at home. But then again. Swearing is different here.
Yeah it's completely normal. The British attitude to swearing is completely different to that of North America. For example the word $hit is not even considered offensive and you will hear it on prime time television.
@@Tazza81 definitely agreed with that.
I read about a dad once who took his young son to his first football match. He warned him that there's football language and everyday language and he should never mix the two up.
Fair play - chawrae teg - we do have a very welcoming culture.
the girl at 3:55 is really from Toronto. Notice how she says Chur-on-no,
My Club My Pub My life Awesome
I think Wrexham need to consolidate next season steady the ship and then the season after recruit and push for promotion
they'll get promoted straight away , especially if the sign Gareth Bale
@@Frank75288 i heard they are signing ronaldo and messi.
2:40 she doesn't sound "north American" and she doesn't seem to have any clue about the sports culture in the US.
wrexham is a "city" - never heard that before. seems a nice place with nice people, just the scale might be off 😉
I bet it's mostly American who don't know about Wales. I'm in Australia and its not a secret.
In fairness, I don't think there's a state in America called New South Wales.
American here and pretty sure most of us know about Wales.
I'm an American and I know about Wales. How could you not remember the country named after an animal that chooses to put a DRAGON on their flag!?!
Nah mate. Ive been following Futbol way too long to not know about Whales. I mean even if you only followed the premier league, people would know that Cardiff and Swansea are Welsh teams let alone Wrexham and Newport.
@@DanNguyen-ey5tw wales not whales 😁
Name change needed...."Wrexham City FC"🎉 🇺🇸 ⚽️ 🙌 🌎 🏆
Someone from England please explain I watch this sport a lot in the USA premier league mornings and all but what’s there odds of being the top of league 2 next year is that completely unattainable
4 teams go up in this league, so they will go up I'd bet my house on it
@@bigtatties really Wrexham is becoming insanely famous people who’s at soccer/football it’s confusing here bear with me lol but they say it’s still not too 4 that’s a lie it’s passed the nhl and the mlb is gonna get gobbled up especially with the mls becoming actually good thank. You Messi I wanna see this team skyrocket
@@bigtatties idk if you seen the Hulu docuseries he talks about Philly being a reminder I’m from Pittsburgh the other city in the state and wrexham and Pittsburgh are like fucking identical I hope they do it
Actually North Wales is the centre of the world.
Its nice and heartwarming at the minute but just wait till the real fans can’t get tickets because of the demand from daytrippers and consequently the atmosphere is permanently damaged. Lets see how welcome they are then
We've got 7,000 season ticket holders and a capacity of 10,500 at the minute, so the vast majority of fans at home games are locals. The hardest thing is getting tickets for away games when you get an allocation 1,300 and 3,000 want to go
@@gilesjones3626 i mean in the future though. The average wrexham fans experience from 4 years ago vs where they will be in 10 years will be a different world. I hope they retain the core values of the club along the way and the club keep real fans together in the stadium to aid atmosphere as the % of external visitors grows
Again, it's great to see so many people becoming supporters of Wrexham, but let's not forget about the local fans who have suffered through the hard times the club has gone through
Why tiktok as sponsor😂
Few bad results watch them turn
How can i get in touch with that Canadian girl ?
Imagine handing your club to foreigners and still supporting it. Cringe.
£$£$£$£$£$£$£$£$£$£ - Easy mode.
What's with the weird faux British accent from the Canadian? 😆
Have you listened to many Canadians?
So. Many. Aviation gin ads.
Proof, bringing the money in to a dying town, that capitalism works...
Or proof that a couple of extremely wealthy people could use their vast sums of money in a good way that benefits the lives of everyone else in a community instead of buying a bunch of useless stuff
Be ware what you wish for Hollywood stars will turn you into a game clib😅
Is it still full of scousers ?
It never was, next question.
A guy club
I could be wrong but Rob seems like a genuine guy, but Ryan seems to me a little phony. He’s always seems to be playing to the camera.
DISNEY FC 🤣
Glory hunters, doesnt it make you sick! Hope they are relegated at Xmas.
Get a life!
What a sad person you are. You need help.
All these smiling, happy people.. Vile
What’s wrong with you 🙄
What a strange take. Wrexham deserve their success, thousands stuck with them in the dark times. The fact new people are attracted to the club because of the exposure doesn't change that
love this # just truly amazing
For years no one’s invested so much as penny. I say bring on the Deadpool and Rob McElhenney!
Shit, before this I didn’t even know where Wales was!
It was just the place after “and” (England, Ireland and…).
