Third R211 Train (2nd Production R211A) Undergoing Burn-in Test on the A Line

Here are two videos taken on July 5, 2023, featuring new Kawasaki R211A cars!
A third R211A train (the second production R211A train) - numbers 4085 through 4089 and 4095 through 4099 - had recently begun undergoing burn-in, a test that ensures components on a train can are exercised for an extended time period before the train is ultimately prepped for passenger service.
Very interestingly for this train, two units in different tens places were used as opposed to units in the same tens place (ie, 407x for the second R211A train). Perhaps further trains will also consist of nonconsecutive units!

Also not sure if it’s just the station environment but this train sounds like it has waaaaayyyyy better speakers than the others

nah, the speakers are the same, they just sound louder on the exterior because that’s one of the improvements they did, making the announcements louder on the outside

These would be perfect for the L. Alas, our R143s are still too new to be replaced.
They probably would look good on the J too but I prefer the wider windows on R179s. 😅

The cars after the first train (called the pilot/prototype sets), which are identical to the first train after all the modifications they undergo.

@garageauto5275 Luckily, we get 2 10 car sets enter service every month. Plus, just like the R160s and 179s, they might just put to sets together and call it a day tbh.
