You've probably already seen the video or heard about Dimash and his connection with Placido from when he saw a video of him when D was 3 years old, right? Did you also see or hear the interview with the Maestro where he relates his fanboy reaction to Dimash? The grandson of the Maestro came running into the room with his phone saying, "Grandpa, you HAVE to listen to this guy!" From that encounter, Placido wanted to meet Dimash AND sing with him!

Obviamente, cuando estás sumergido ( como el Maestro Plácido Domingo con sus ±65 años de cantar opera ) pero creo que vale la pena recordar, Dimash venía de un concierto y estaba en medio de la preparación de otro ( en los cuales interpreta en múltiples idiomas y estilos ) respetuosamente lo anoto, solamente para puntualizar, él cumplió su anhelo de estar con el maestro, no se va a dedicar a la ópera.
This was a dream come true for Dimash. He shared that at the age of 5, he had a VHS of a concert by Maestro Domingo and he dreamed of meeting and working with him from that time. I am sure Dimash appreciated the opportunity to support young classical artists at the invitation of Maestro Domingo. We hope that all his dreams come true and we will be there to support him as he reaches for his dreams.
Placido told Dimash he could not hit the high notes due to age anymore which is why he took the Baritone part. So yes you are right about that, still amazing though, they paired very well.

Many bel canto teachers have verified that Dimash brings a cross interpretation between rigid classical singing (which must follow norms and exactly as the author of the piece wrote, from the notes and durations, the portamentos, the expressiveness... Everything) and much more popular flexibility. For purists, let's remember that Dimash had the dream of singing with Plácido Domingos since he was a child and it was the Maestro himself, Don Domingos, who suggested the duet (he knew that even with classical training, Dimash would sing as a cross between classical and pop )! Dimash only had one day to remember the work and make the recording, as this moment is part of the competition (like a talent show) for children with musical talent: The “Virtuosos”! Dimash, as well as Placido Domingos, were part of the Jury, accompanied by Erika Miklósa (opera singer), Adrás Keller (violinist, conductor and musical director of the Budapest Concert), Hauser (cellist), Plácido Domingos Jr. (singer and composer), Pablo Sanz Villegas (classical guitarist), Gabriela Rachid (cultural director) and Harvey Goldsmith (music promoter)! The show was in Budapest (Hungary) from January 16th to 26th this year, 2024!
👉 The world stands still for this moment and everyone holds their breath. A singing teacher calls them the two musical titans...yes, yes, yes! This duet was Dimash's dream and it is coming true. What an honor for our beloved Dimash and a great joy for Maestro Domingo…. And I was bathed in tears of joy. I'm sooo happy.
Dimash was asked to participate as a judge in the competition for young classical musicians... and then... he gave us dear ones this wonderful jewel.
Maestro Domingo invited Dimash to sing the duet with him the day before. Dimash only had a short night to learn this song in French... and besides, Dimash had a cold with a cough. (You notice it more clearly in the second song at the end of the concert.)
Dimash would never act recklessly towards his duet partners. With good manners and respect, he would never drown out Maestro Domingo (then still 82) with his voice. He even adapts to Maestro Domingo's vocal color.
Dimash opens a new world to many Dears... the world of classical music. You should definitely watch the video (look at the end of the comment)... so many young, talented musicians and the sensitive assessment of the jurors... Great!!! ... and the legendary duet of Maestro Domingo and Dimash Qudaibergen!

While meeting Dimash Domingo mentioned he is more of a baritone now - his voice dropped with age but man to have still such an powerful voice at 83! Sunning performance and a childhood dream of Dimash's comming true.
It shows! However, I know if I said that he's more of a baritone now, a bunch of people would start pointing out his past and the 3 tenors so I just said that his deeper register got more developed with age. For all I know he's still able to sing higher, but probably not as easy as before which is totally natural with age. He's still incredible!

Placido Domingo, born Jan. 21, 1941 and Dimash, born May 24, 1994 singing this classic duet on December 10, 2023. So there's 53 years between them, let that sink in for a moment. Placido's voice is still wonderful at age 82 in this clip. Maestro Placido Domingo was of course 1 of the Three Tenors (with Luciano Pavarotti and Jose Carreras). There is a video of when they met & Placido was so excited at meeting Dimash! He said his grandson had found Dimash on YT & he complimented Dimash on his incredible voice & invited him to perform a duet with him. Dimash then told him that, as a child, he had a video of Placido's concert & said it was because of him that he decided to go into music. A wonderful meeting between 2 maestros!

for the great maestro placido domingo to still perform in his 80s is a treat. granted, he is singing more as a baritone given his age, but none of the great dramatic tenors of the maestro's generation are no longer around to share their gift. hopefully dimash qudaibergen will be able to last the next six decades like placido domingo.

BRAZIL - Thank you for that warm reaction; to the brilliance of these 2 legends (I loved it when master Plácido Domingo invited Dimash to do a duet, but he was sincere when he said that his tenor voice has changed a lot and now he sings as a baritone) but he is still magnificent at 83 years old, we have to value him when he is alive (The 3 Tenors, divine show). Dimash is always proud of us, and happy that his childhood dream has come true. Through Dimash I discovered a program (VIRTUOSOS) created by the maestro, which is beautiful, I was enchanted by the talents of children and teenagers who performed.
