Dangerous was never underrated it debuted at #1 on Billboard 200 & staying there for four weeks. Four singles reached at the top 10 & Black or White stayed at #1 for 7 weeks & was nominated for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance. Dangerous won a Grammy for Best Egineered Album
@@tyliekinc. YES!! "Invincible" and "Blood On The Dance Floor" are the ones so brutally underrated it should be criminal. Those albums are unreal, there isn't anything like them. Those are the epitome of musical genius and perfection. Sony and Tommy Mottola will go to hell for the injusticed they caused those albums. "Dangerous" was astounding but it thankfully/rightfully got much more appreciation then people remember. "Dangerous" was HUGE globally and broke records, it was the *perfect* post "Bad" album revival. "HIStory" got recognition as well but not near as much as it deserved. The new tracks released on that album were revolutionary. "Off The Wall" is the one that was groundbreaking when released, making him an overnight solo megastar, but has gotten a little lost as the decades have passed. His albums are all completely untouchable in comparison by every musical aspect. The only person that could have possibly outdone Michael, in any point during his career and even today, WAS Michael!
@Andrew Brunnette MJ was credited on his albums for playing several instruments. He played instruments on his demos. But he preferred working w/ the best musicians out there. Why wouldn't he want Louis Johnson to play the bass on Billie Jean???? MJ was a perfectionist. He KNEW he wasn't as good as Louis Johnson. In fact NOBODY was.
@Andrew Brunnette Try to name that 27 instruments... You can't. It was a hoax to advertise Prince's album. You're a fan of his and don't know that? He played some instruments. W/ mediocre talent. MJ did play some instruments, too, not superior either. He's credited on his albums and you can hear it on his demos. But for his final cuts he chose the best musicians around. Prince chose to play himself on his mostly mediocre level. You can guess who was right. Just check how many ppl wanted to own MJs music.

Kidding me Mojo?? "They don't care about us"?? It is the second most viewed MJ song in UA-cam. "Earth Song" has almost 150 million views... Anyway, "P.Y.T." , "Unbreakable", "Human Nature", "Liberian Girl" and "Money" should have made the list...
Obviously it’s “underrated” for these casual that “likes MJ” I mean casual is who even listen the whole album , off the wall have many great songs! And BAD most underrated isn’t speed demon for me is “just good friends” is the most underrated song in that album.
@Shon Magee bruh, he's just a human, you're tripping. If he was really a divinity in a human form he wouldn't have dead a very normal human like death.
“They Don’t Care About Us” is definitely underrated because Americans mostly don’t even know that song exists. I remember seeing him with Orianthi doing that song on This is It and it was great.
In Germany it's one of his most famous songs. It seems that it's the one that does appear the most on german tv. Like we have a really famous show called "Joko gegen Klaas: Das Duell um die Welt" where Klaas had to perform They Don't Care About Us with some prisoners in the Philippines. Here's the link if you wanna watch ua-cam.com/video/98yG9ISa8ZA/v-deo.html
Michael was a powerhouse. Everything he wrote, he put his heart and soul and all of his energy into, whatever he was trying to portray. Every song was unique and had so much emotion in it, I get a different overwhelming feeling with each one. And I never ever get tired of anything he has done. He wrote about some of the most important topics to me, like in Earth Song. That message is something I constantly think about, he portrayed how I feel about the world perfectly. He was just a beam of light, no one will ever come close to him ever again.
@OnlyMichaelJackson so true 👏his music has meaning.....he gives me goosebumps every time I listen to his songs, he makes me believe in true love, not like the singers nowadays who just sing about fu**ing ... Michael will always be the king 👑❤

@@miajackson4126 To me that song, and the whole HIStory album, is underrated because of radio play. At least where i life, there is more Dangerous songs on play than They dont care about us or any other history song. It feels underrated because people dont get the message. But i do feel they dont care about us did get a huge fanbase after michael died.
"Who Is It" should have made the list! It's a great pop song, but its release was buried in the scandal of the first allegations. His cover of the Beatles' "Come Together" is excellent, as is his duet with Santana, "Whatever Happens."
not only the scandal tired ass America blocked video because it depicted prostitution now look what they got on tv ! man they always been giving MJ a hard time!
People still don't realize that THE KING OF POP's music had a message. Every song he wrote meant something; yet people just listen to his music; don't get me wrong his music is awesome, me myself is a HUGE fan of him. But people were cruel to him and he had a very rough past. I can relate to him pretty well.
Anahí M Juarez Yeah. What makes his songs even better, rather the best is the message in it. The message makes you wanted to sing along with it that hard.
@Ruthless Stevens I like to think of Off The Wall as the "forgotten" MJ album as opposed to "underrated"...Off The Wall was after all a Grammy winning album, it won Michael like, 1 or 2 Grammys, I don't think Invincible won any Grammys. I'm not saying bring underrated is totally based on Grammy success, but as a child of the late 70s and 80s, Off the Wall was HUGE at the time, Rock With You and Don't Stop Till You Get Enough were in just as heavy rotation at that time as any song during the Thriller era. When Invincible came out, the only song off of that album that was in heavy rotation from what I remember was Rock My World, and still gets heavy rotation to this day, and Butterflies was popular but only mainly to R&B audiences, especially with Floetry being the masterminds behind the song. And I know Sony didn't promote Invincible because of the unfortunate MJ/Sony beef. But grand "promotions" from record labels to back albums or tours weren't really a thing back in the 70s and early 80s either (not until MJ himself kinda changed the game funny enough), but Off The Wall was still mainstream enough to garner him Grammys. Maybe because we all knew we were in for a treat in the years to come! 😉
-Butterflies (Invincible) -Dirty Diana (Bad) -Leave Me Alone (Bad) -Gone Too Soon (Dangerous) -This Time Around (History) -I Am A Loser (The Ultimate Collection) -Someone Put Your Hand Out (The Ultimate Collection)
I love the "One More Chance" video sooo much. It shows the perspective of the fans being the stars on stage and him appreciating their love from the seating area as their fans, it's so underrated.
Whoa whoa, Stranger in moscow was NOT about the child scandals. Michael was on tour during that time and recalls feeling all alone dispite a crowd of fans outside his hotel, also being thousands of miles away from his family That's what Stranger In Moscow is about. Don't ruin such a beautiful song with false info, this was one of the songs I wanted to be in this list! But not falsely told!!! (Edit: also the reason WHY it's called Stranger in moscow is because he was in Russia when he thought of the song! Hence why he feels like a stranger, in Moscow!)
Yes, it was about the scandals. He was in Moscow when he found out he was accused of child molestation. Sega shortly dropped him from his work on Sonic 3, and to salvage it, he turned the End Credits piece into Stranger in Moscow. Stranger in Moscow is one of the five songs Michael Jackson wrote about how the accusations made him feel, along with Ghosts, Is It Scary, Scream, and They Don't Care About Us, with the latter also being about racism and police brutality.
@@LegionIvory I do agree with you, and what you said is completely true. It just upset me that the video phrased it that he was 'atoning for his actions for what he has done' which gives off a bad vibe about the scandals, which are completely false. Again, you are correct, it's just how the video phrased it.
I didnt think much about how the video presented Michael the 1st time I watched this but after reading this comment I watched the Stranger in Moscow section again. I do agree that the phrasing of word choice does paint him in a negative light. "Stranger in Moscow finds Jackson reevaluating his actions..." like he made this song and video because he felt guilty rather than the isolation and sense of betrayal he felt as the result of such FALSE accusations. Yeah watchmojo could have phrased this section better. All aside this song truly deserves to be on this list.
Stranger in Moscow is my favorite song, it is so underrated, its so simple and tells soo much about him.. Hauntingly Beautiful.. Also they dont care about us.. I think it is quietly genius how he talks about every minority, and putting his own experiences in this song aswell. Paired with such emotion, It deserves a lot more praise, and I noticed lots of people were praising it much more after MJ passed away..
All Michael Jackson songs are amazing, He put so much work, lots of creativity, Michael Jackson songs are very pleasing. Michael always pass message across through is music. He is a genius. He always sings quality songs, its a pity most of His great work are underrated. Nevertheless the least of MJ Songs is far better than the songs we have today, You can't stop enjoying his music, always refreshing, evergreen, standing test of time, No artist this days could measure up to that
david ajayi I completely agree with everything you said! I have never heard or seen a man with so much natural talent! No one will ever be able to completely replicate his voice because it is so beautiful! It pains me that he was taken from us so early. We need more people like him in the world!!
Yep. Also Will You Be There. His ad libs at the end (before the spoken word) are amazing. "Get lonely sometimes... I get lonely... yeah yeah..." Chills.
Probably we should count only his solo career. If we want to include Jackson's and Jackson 5 "underrated" songs, we would spend days listing gems not known today except for samplings in modern crappy songs. What about Blame It On The Boogie or Shake Your Body, Walk Right Now, Things I Do For You, Lovely One... But you are right, Heartbreak Hotel / This Place Hotel is a timeless masterpiece!!!
Keep The Faith, Who Is It, She Drives Me Wild, Why You Wanna Trip On Me, In The Closet, This Time Around, D.S, Little Susie, Heartbreaker, Break of Dawn, Heaven Can Wait, 2000 Watts, You Are My Life, Privacy, The Lost Children, Whatever Happens, Threatened, etc, are also underrated. I kinda wanted to include Bad but I don't know if that's also underrated. I think it is cause everyone seems to compare it to Thriller so I think that's why it doesn't get much love. To me, Bad is way better than Thriller. It's my favorite but the ones on the this list, honorable mentions and the ones I mentioned, are also bops and deserve more love.
Just to make that clear: Yes, "They don't care about us" addresses injustices due to race, religion, etc. But it is even more a very personal song of his, addressing all the injustices against him, he had to endure. Listen to the lyrics, he's criticizing the way he got treated and puts all his anger into his voice. It's one of his most strongest songs If people would just listen to the words carefully, they would feel all his pain and his frustration. These words have a meaning, folks.
Some of my FAVORITE MJ songs.....Leave me alone, Stranger in Moscow, Speed demon, They don’t care about us, Butterflies, This is it and EARTH SONG?!?! Earth Song!!!! All have been on repeat several times❤️❤️❤️❤️
they did pretty well but by underrated i was thinking Fly Away, Seeing Voices, Blue Gangsta, Don't walk away, Privacy, Chicago, Much Too Soon, Money (One of my ultimate faves)
Okay dude, most of these I'm pretty sure everyone knows. but as a moonwalker, I know all of these by heart, and i can easily recognize these songs within 5 seconds of the song. i really miss him, hes a big part of my life, and i live to spread his legacy
@@MrQuadro83 But it’s way overshadowed by his other songs like thriller, beat it, smooth criminal, dangerous, human nature, they don’t care about us...etc... It’s very underrated and most non-fans are probably unaware of it unfortunately.
I thought the Off the Wall song was going to be #1 while waiting during the honorable mentions. I was thinking...hmm, what could be #1? Has to be something from Off the Wall since that album always gets overshadowed by Thriller...

Nicolas Bravo these were underrated in the US, because these three singles were never released in the US, except for TDCAU. That song was being boycotted by radio stations and other media outlets. Therefore, it didnt chart that high, well in Europe TDCAU was a big hit.

You’re singing for the angels now, and they’ll definitely appreciate your talent and voice way more than us stupid humans did.

Michael Jackson is an very beautiful treasure once you start going you never stop searching.
So true!
I've been a fan since I was 3. Thats thirteen years of searching.
I agree
One of the most truest things honestly 😂
MJ is still my favorite artist of all time. Happy birthday Michael.
He sucked.
@Andrew Brunnette Oh, please, grow up.
Oh ...lol Lisa Mrie Presley and million girls over the world who cry and faint at his concerts say otherwise .
These underrated songs of MJ are far better then the best songs of a lot of musicians

“They Don’t Care About Us” is definitely underrated because Americans mostly don’t even know that song exists. I remember seeing him with Orianthi doing that song on This is It and it was great.
DareDB KPop What do you mean? EVERYONE knows that song exists. Americans included
Not really. As the video said, the song got very little promotion in the US. Only hardcore MJ fans who bought that album would know about it.
It’s not underrated though. There is even has a line dance to the song
DareDB KPop literally every American knows they don’t care about us
In Germany it's one of his most famous songs.

TRUEEEEE
Including Leave Me Alone, Blood On The Dance Floor, Give Into Me. These were popular songs actually.
My favorite Song with Beat it
Teal Chastain he actually owned the Beatles catalog so technically he covered a song sang by the Beatles owned by him lol
The whole Invincible album was so underrated.
Exactly
Speechless
No it is not
No not the whole album
“The Lost Children” is criminally underrated! It’s about human trafficking and has such a sweet rhythm

I mean, Butterflies is his most Underrated song period.

Butterflies is my favorite out of all his songs. 💙
My dad saw him during his Tour in Russia in 93 :)
I heard it was about the scandals that i don't really care about us came out of his pain from the 1993 lies those extortionists told.
Stranger in Moscow is the shit. That song is badd. Get into the lyrics, it's a masterpiece.
These songs deserve more love. These shows who Michael really was.
Absolutely. Melodically alone it is gorgeous
Are you a fan of the Slow original version or the remix dance version? or Both?!

Ive BEEN saying Baby Be Mine was underrated!! It’s definitely one of my favourites

For me one of Michaels gems is 'Who Is It". It's so pure and emotional. A highlight of the 'Dangerous' abum
Yep. Also Will You Be There. His ad libs at the end (before the spoken word) are amazing. "Get lonely sometimes... I get lonely... yeah yeah..." Chills.

who is it and another part of me are way too damn underrated more than butterflies
Heartbreak Hotel is probably his most underrated song. It’s a banger
IKR
Probably we should count only his solo career. If we want to include Jackson's and Jackson 5 "underrated" songs, we would spend days listing gems not known today except for samplings in modern crappy songs. What about Blame It On The Boogie or Shake Your Body, Walk Right Now, Things I Do For You, Lovely One... But you are right, Heartbreak Hotel / This Place Hotel is a timeless masterpiece!!!
Nope it’s Billie jean
"They don't care about us" Is never ever underrated ...

My fav song ever
Just to make that clear:
Yes, "They don't care about us" addresses injustices due to race, religion, etc.
But it is even more a very personal song of his, addressing all the injustices against him, he had to endure. Listen to the lyrics, he's criticizing the way he got treated and puts all his anger into his voice.
It's one of his most strongest songs
If people would just listen to the words carefully, they would feel all his pain and his frustration.
These words have a meaning, folks.
