i feel like johanna shouldnt have had to restart the second boulder as she hadn't touched any of the other holds before eventually getting both hands and feet on the start holds
But only after they told her that the start was incorrect. Without intervention, she would have moved on without starting properly and then asked down. So, if they had allowed her going on without restarting it would have been unfair, in my opinion. If anything, they theoretically saved her time due pointing it out early. However, of course, since it was unclear to her why she had to come down, the time saved was negated and it took longer overall. Probably, to keep discussion/complaints/misunderstandings to a minimum, they should always wait until the next hold was touched illegally, so that it is clear that the athlete has to restart. Otherwise there is always an argument possible that the athlete still could have started correctly without intervention (even though it is probably dishonest).
@@Bloxeh that's a fair point as to when a restart is necessary, she could possibly argue that she was shifting into a more comfortable starting position. But based on her restart she was clearly capable of starting correctly
@@owensigal3468 Yes, fair point. I've never read the entire rules to be honest, so I'm not sure if it ok at all to call an athlete out before the athlete makes the mistake. Whether she would have or not have made it is speculation and in such cases the decision should be made in favor of the athlete. When watching the scene I thought it was obvious that she was intending to move on and therefore logical that she had to reset, but the early call is pretty awkward and made a topic out of something that shouldn't be one. So, yeah, gotta agree with you :).
Climbing comps really need to learn how to use camera angles correctly... so often things are shown which have absolutely no relevance in that situation.... At 31:42 for example they show Petra's left hand doing nothing while she moves her right hand to the next hold.
Typically Austrian climbing competitions are filmed by a television company from the region. This one certainly seems that way. The competition organizers have fairly little say over what camera angles are shown in the moment. That is the role of the television company's producer.
@@Murdog83 what a pity, camera angles can really make a huge difference for us viewers. Hopefully they find a way to improve on that somehow... Fingers crossed for the Olympics haha
yay new climbing content, ive watched last years too many times.
Climbing starts at 17:30
Great climbing from Johanna Färber! And it's awesome to have comp climbing back in general. Can't wait for the males. :)
I really enjoyed having Anna as co-commentator, hope to hear her more often!
The backflag stick by johanna at 1:03:06 is crazy
i'm so impressed by their strength and technic. such great climbers!
Stream starts at 3:18
Shout out to the route setters: I like it when the athletes have to fight for the tops. Amazing watch throughout, congrats to all the participants!

good climbing. partial bad camera. the holds are not in view too often or we see everything from a top angle where one cant really see anything.
Nahaufnahmen sind toll, aber nicht beim bouldern! Ebenso könnte man sie den Kamerakran sparen.
Does anyone want to do Fantasy IFSC league?
Please show the hole body of the climber while climbing!!
extremely bad camera work, destroyed all positive impression 😢
its super funny to hear a tyrolian fall back into tyrolian accent while talking english ^^ must be hard to train yourself not to do that i guess.
not gonna lie some of these have amazing figures :o
They are climbers climbing, not there for your sexual entertainment. You could have kept your comment for yourself.
