Also, abortion? Wow. I figured it was about Sully being Wiccan or something because that's usually a plot point.

Hell, even the “000-000-000-000-000” chugging riffs that a lot of modern metal bands use today are technically one note, but those are more listenable because they give a unique “feel” to the groove. *This* riff on the other hand, just feels very bland, basic and amateurish.

Hell, take the ending of TOOL's 46&2. The ending of that song literally just hits an open d chord 18 times in a row (the same chord as Godsmack in Bad Religion)! Yet the rythm and buildup to that simplicity makes it stand out as one of the best moments on the entire album!!!

I think even if they hadn't approached this song as delicately as you suggest, it still would have at least been something. You had mentioned before about POD and how they have a song that straight up says "Abortion is Murder" and that's hardly being delicate about it but at least they committed to what they were saying. You don't have to agree with the message but it was clear and delivered with conviction. Even the title of this song has no real consensus. Do bad spiritual takes condone or deny abortions? Does bad religion make you go insane and want them? (That first part might be debatable but that's a personal decision that people have to come to on their own.) From a non musical person perspective, it's just a bad take for me because if you're going to say something about an issue, have the balls to actually talk about it.

Godsmack should write a song called "Godsmack." The song will just be full of the phrases "go away!" "Stay away" "get back!" and "keep away!" Then, it'll include some screaming. It'll be their best song.

You remember the trumpets before the next line. You remember the chorus. You remember the *power* of the singer's voice. What will we remember about Godsmack's "Bad Religion"?

I like a lot of godsmacks music, hell i even like this song, but i 100% see where you're coming from on this one, it's basic, and has a message that isn't very thought out at points despite trying to hammer the message in. if anything i'm glad you picked this song over another track on their self-titled like "Keep Away" or "Time Bomb". all-in-all it was an good video, but i do have to agree with some of the comments saying that you spent way too long hammering in the point that the riff of the song was basic when you got the point across fairly quickly, but i digress, keep up the good vids crash.

For my part, the noted inclusions on the ban are:
    1) Literally everything Rage Against the Machine. I mean, I know they're *very* left-leaning anarchic (and Tom Morello *definitely* is), but come the fuck on.
    2) Cute romance songs from the 50's like "Johnny Angel". What, too *hopeful* for ya, Clear Channel?
    3) "Bridge over Troubled Water". No affirmations of friendship and support in a time of trouble allowed here, I suppose.
    4) "Get Together", aka the most lovey-dovey, hopeful hippie peace and cooperation song.
    5) Cat Stevens. What the actual fuck.

It sounds like a dumbed down song, like the band is talking down to us, and being talked down to by the likes of Godsmack hurts.
You can tell they can do better and they are choosing not to. Like they listened to the haters saying grunge, punk and metal were dumb, and decided to lean into that, but not in a way that respects fans of any of the genres.

I don't think that Staind and FFDP are worse than Godsmack, these bands at least had some qualities early in their career with stuff like Way of the Fist and War is the Answer being better than most of average bro metal for FFDP and Staind has Dysfunction, which I think is decent nu metal record overall. But if we talk about now, well I don't remember Godsmack being outright embarassing in the last years and they even have 1 or 2 songs from last record I sort of like, while FFDP made nothing but crap post their double album and Staind is, well, Staind is Staind, that's all I have to say

I hate Godsmack, but that one-note riff is groovy and aggressive as hell. That's why every "core" band breakdown in the later 2000's uses some variation of it. The main problem with that riff (and the band in general) is how much it rips off Alice in Chains, specifically Man in the Box's one-note riff.
But without that context it's actually pretty catchy and easily the best part of the song.
