I agree with you about Nickleback. I've said, for years, that they were great in the 90's....yes, they were around in the 90's. Their only radio hit, in my hometown at least, was Leader of Men. It's actually a great song.
With Alien ant farm, they actually got Jackson’s blessing to do the song, and HE loved it. They also never set out intending to do it to start with. The singer said that the bassist used to play the baseline of the song at concerts and the crowd instantly knew what it was and loved it. They got ahold of Jackson’s people and asked if they could do the cover, never thinking he’d never say yes, but he did, saying it would only be released if he himself liked it.
Alien Ant Farm definitely had a lot of good things going for them, and I thought it was a shame they never got much attention after the "Smooth Criminal" cover. That was a damn good cover though.
DIEHARDT 8838 it really is, pre-sellout Nickelback was a pretty good modern rock band. Kinda sad they went from actually having passion in music to just trying to cash a real quick check.
I'm a casual Nickelback fan so it made me happy that they made the list. My favorite song by them is "Never Again." Its a narrative song about domestic violence and it makes me so emotional every time I listen to it.
I’m more of a metal head, I don’t really like nickel back all that much but I won’t come out and just rip on them. If anything how you remind me is a decent tune and even a guilty pleasure of mine. But the issue is outside of that, it’s just generic radio rock with creepy lyrics. If i want to listen to listen to a raunchy creeper anthem I’d listen to something with actually talent like RX queen or prosthetics.
I’m not a die hard fan or anything but Staind has so many good songs that you can tell Aaron poured his emotion into. Staind’s music helped me through some tough times back in the day and I get why Aaron isn’t liked but man Staind had a lot of good shit
@@BoilerBloodline the first three Staind albums are pretty great. the one with the song about his daughter blows...sadly enuf he makes way better music when he's depressed and strung out on heroin. the comeback single they had a few years ago was pretty raw. but then i've seen his country act live and he said that's what he always wanted to do. /cringe...
Funny story: I went to High School with Jynx from Black Veil Brides. His real name is Jeremy Furguson, and I got to hang out with him a few times and can confirm the guy was amazing... he was always into the hair metal stuff, but could play everything from Randy Rhodes flawlessly. I can confirm he was, indeed, an outcast, much like myself, but a cool dude none the less. But seeing him in a band........... like that... not shocking in the least.
@@loveandrespectme nice! I've fallen out of touch with him over the years, but he should be a great father if the way he was back then reflects who he is now. I've never known the guy to be mean, angry, rude, crude, or anything other than a mellow guy who used music to express himself. That kid will have one hell of a dad, that's for sure.
The Alien Ant Farm entry does make me think of a topic: A list (or a series) about One Hit Wonder bands that have good songs, but can't escape that one hit in the eyes of the majority.
Over the years I've weirdly gone from being indifferent to Black Veil Brides to being a casual defender of them. Even if their sound and schtick get a bit repetitive at times, I can't really HATE it - it's escapism and theatre for sad, lonely kids and as someone who grew up on MCR I appreciate that even as an adult. Plus that whole 'Wretched and Divine' album is pretty good, most of their other albums have really solid and even fun guitar work, and Andy Black's lower, gritty voice is pretty different from your standard high-pitched 'emo' singer's that even their cheesiest lyrics feel powerful. mostly.
I saw them live with like 5 other bands in Tampa over a month ago and I think I remember listening to them and thinking "y'know they kinda look and sound like if Avenged Sevenfold went glam." They also finished with In The End which was also the only song I was mildly familiar with from them meanwhile I know most or all of the songs from everyone else aside from Godsmack which I only knew the ones from my childhood and unlike Three Days Grace, there weren't too many.
@@kaelanmcalpine2011 I saw them alongside INK and MIW at the Trinity of Terror tour a couple months ago. There's more variation and 'life' in their songs than on record, plus Andy Black's a cracking good frontman, even if I was wondering if he'd stop the show because he smudged his makeup.
F8 was a disapointment, i gotta admit it but And Justice For None was amazign and so were the albums before. I'm with Ian here, they're msuic is great, why are they hated. Maybe it's the hate that demotivates?
I love Burn it to the Ground. It's one of the only NB songs I'll admit to liking. If I recall, there was a track on the Silver Side Up (?) album that was a bit good too. Was it called Never Again? Or something like that? Similar chugging riff to BITTG.
I feel sorry for BVB. They're a really good band with some heavy tracks in their catalogue, but they just got caught up in the emo era that everyone loathes. I'm not ashamed to admit that I'm a fan
They're all really talented musicians, I think they were just tarnished by their image. That music video for Fallen Angels probably put a lot of people off, the way they were all doing hero poses like it was the intro to a Saturday morning cartoon was sheer cringe.
Yeah I completely agree. They really had the potential to become bigger. They were big back in 2013/14 yes, but they had very big potential. I hate how he makes it sound like they're talentless hacks or whatever. Jake and Jinx are amazing guitar players. Their first two albums have very complicated and fast riffs. It was really their last full length Vale they really phoned in the musicianship because if you're telling me a song like Perfect Weapon or Rebel Love Song were phoned in, I have no clue what to think
Honestly Five Finger has some songs that are defined by being mainstream, but they honestly have a lot of really awesome and creative songs, and Ivan is an amazing vocalist
Yeah, why does he think ffdp is a bad band, they have som really great songs such as: Cold, Darkness Settles inn, Meance, Blue on Black, Never enough and so many more.
Most of Staind's music is 6 string based, using a baritone (for Mike, anyway - Aaron just played standard guitars in Eb tuning). I think Mike started playing 7 strings only in recent years.
I haven't listened to Staind in Forever but when I was a young teenager I was obsessed with their first two albums. Every once in awhile I'll go back to them
I'm one of a rare few that enjoy every creed song, I know the meanings behind them and Stapp was insane. His solo stuff now is actually good too. My best buddy also loves creed and we jam it all the time while driving
I went through a BVB phase, I used to love them, listened to a LOT of their music, and even still when I’ve reached bands like Nirvana, Pink Floyd, RHCP, Foo Fighters etc, I don’t find them a bad band.
Nickelback's debut was legitimately solid stuff. I don't like where they went from there, but that first album was goos. Saliva was really good at what they did, which was dumb mindless butt rock. They may do something kinda dumb, but they were great at it. Alien Ant Farm is a brilliant band and deserve waaaaaay more recognition. Every song on Ant Farm is great. Staind...Mudshovel. Still a great track. They were kinda like Saliva, the best in their niche. Hoobastank. Their debut album was genuinely good and is still enjoyable. They were never great, but you can't say they weren't good. Train...They had one or two other songs that were decent back in the day. Creed...My Own Prison and Human Clay were great albums and everyone loved them for a good reason. Maybe they went crazy later, but I will tell you (truthfully, I'm almost sure) that most people who hate them only started hating them during those first two albums was because it was the trendy thing to do and that's it.
Saliva's probably most famous for doing Batista's entrance theme, "I Walk Alone" - also a good song. Listened to a bit of their other music on the strength of that one and found it wasn't my thing, but I Walk Alone is a very solid song.
I actually like Staind. Their album Dysfunction is still one of my favourite albums to this day. While I liked Break the cycle, I found it to be too mainstream rock for me. The same goes for most of their albums. Now, their last album was really great as well! Their best since Dysfunction, in my opinion!
Hated that band at first. And really cant stand that first album. But toured with them a few times and the guys are great. Came around to liking their stuff based on the live show.
Luke: Talks positively about one 5FDP song CRASH THOMPSON HAS LEFT THE CHAT (Btw...no offense to Crash, I love his and Luke's videos a ton. Love the mention of Karencore!)
Coming Down Hard To See Wrong side of Heaven American Capitalist Hell they have more good songs. It's just that they have too much repetitive theming around.
They are a classic example of wasted potential. Here's my list of their underrated bangers that weren't covered. WoTF "Stranger than Fiction" WItA "Crossing Over", "Far From Home" RSoH Vol. 1 "M.I.N.E. (End This Way)
Staind WAS awesome. Their first album was absolutely amazing. Break the Cycle was good, then it went downhill from there. Saw them live a long time ago and it was great. Mushok is an amazing guitarist and is fun to watch.
I saw them in concert my freshmen year in high school. Godsmack and Cold opened up for them. I was impressed by all 3 bands. Cold especially put on such a memorable show. I agree that Staind went downhill in their latter years, but they put out some killer songs I still jam to.
Five finger death punch hollywood undead saliva black veil brides definitely belong on this list. Nickleback and train i accept on the list. Creed is pushing it.
I think you hit the nail on the head with Nickelback - a band that is more than capable of making great music and has a lot of solid cuts that many people overlook (Side of a Bullet and Because of You, just to name a couple), but just seem to be “hit” oriented.
I'm all for bashing Nickelback for being terrible but honestly Silver Side Up was a solid album for it's time. They just happened to follow it up with a musical dud and then doubled down with All The Right Reasons where they released a song making fun of selling out as the cherry on top of the shit sundae they were serving as a single. Irony at it's finest.
Al the right reasons was the last good album from Nickelback imo. Black horse has some ok songs, but as an album is meh. The State and Curb are my favorite albums.
After watching this video, I actually looked up "What if" for the first time in probably a decade, just to confirm that, if we can call any Creed songs good, it would be that one. So, yeah. Agreed.
What if is fantastic, but I always loved the song after it, beautiful. Super heavy riff in a minor key. Seriously, aside from the Scott Stapp hate and the backlash against a clearly Christian band not coming clean on the topic, I never understood why Creed took all the heat they did. Tremonti was always an outstanding guitarist, and an absolute riff machine.
@@jimmy3people0 st anger isn't really trainwreckords material. tranwreckords is for albums that essentially killed a band's career, st anger sucked but it hardly ruined metallica's career. edit: my prediction was just as bad as Todd’s infamously wrong predictions
this comment alone makes me put this channel on my to-watch list XD I've been a fan of Todd for like a year now and if this guy is anything like him I'm into it.
I actually liked Alien Ant Farms cover of Smooth Criminal. They didn’t completely butcher it, which is an easy thing to do to a Jackson song. 30 Seconds to Mars was always one of those bands I thought had one good song, and were capable of so much more.
@@7LeggedOctopusTV For some people, songs like It's Been Awhile or So Far Away might have been really irritating and they both over shadowed all of their better songs
Five Finger and Staind are two of my favorite groups. I’ve never considered them “bad”. I know that’s my opinion. I mean have people heard “Wrong Side of Heaven” by Five Finger? Mudshovel by Staind? That’s just one of their amazing songs by each group! Come on!
Both bands have extremely deuchey singers and five finger pushes their conservativism too much for me. I know staind is conservative too and Aaron Lewis talks about his views a lot but usually not on stage. So I mostly just hate five finger. I feel like staind is just like puddle of mudd.
@@standarsh1583 yeah exactly. But for me it’s honestly not about the politics it’s mostly about their mediocre music. For the record though, their politics are terrible.
@@standarsh1583 Just gotta learn to separate political views from the music. Music can be interpreted many ways, even if the band flat out tells you what the message was supposed to be.
Five finger death punch is definitely a lot better then they use to be. He had a serious problem with alcohol and sense he got help and sobered up he and his group seem to be having the time of there lives. He genuinely looks happier then he ever has. I loved seeing them live after he got better! 🤙🏻
Wow, this video actually unlocked several memories for me lol. I completely forgot about saliva. "Always" is one of only two songs I've ever heard from them. And the only reason I know that song is because when I was younger, my dad had it on his ipod. When I got a little older and he got a car with an aux port, he started letting me pick out which songs to play. I usually picked that one, and also "my own worst enemy" by Lit, my two favorite songs he had
I loved Creed, Staind, Nickleback, and Hollywood Undead growing up. I still love them even if their music is dated and whatnot. They just give me loads of nostalgia😭❤
I actually like most of the bands on this list... and no matter how many people dislike the music I like, especially older Nickelback up to and including their Here and Now album, I’m mature enough to like my music tastes irregardless. Still, always love this channel’s videos.
I slip “ode” by Creed and “Because of You” by Nickelback into some of my playlists. I’m not a huge fan of either band but I like them and grew up in their breakout years. I like to trick my friends into rocking out to some good riffs and seeing their reactions when either Scott or Chad start singing.
Funny/oddly enough, Hollywood Undead was my gateway band into harder versions of rock/metal and rap music. Back in 2009 at the age of 12 I was mostly accustomed to radio rock and 80s, 90s alternative. Then HU came out with this raw blend of edgy, emo, rock, "tough" energy, and at times amateur tracks. Still love HU to this day.
Hollywood undead is really good. I love almost all of their songs that aren't party songs, as their lyrics are amazing and emotional in most of their songs. However, they are also really bad at live singing
@@djloeffler3141 I've seen them live 3 times and I've never seen them really bad at all. Especially the two of I saw they were practically the main hype of the day.
@@djloeffler3141 the thing is, they don't write most of their songs, except for lyrics. But if you don't care about it, yeah, many of their songs are good, I even like some party ones
I'm completely with you. Despite Stapp's occasional... Meltdowns, I actually think he was/is a good singer. And don't get me started on Tremonti. He's My favorite guitarist. I also enjoy a lot of Nickelback's material. Most of it is solid. And "Escape" by Hoobastank is a very decent album. 😊
Creed has good songs "Torn", "Ode", "In America", "Illusion", "Unforgiven", "What's This Life For?", "Say I", "Never Die", "Higher" and maybe a few off Weathered
I also think Leader of Men by Nickelback is good, it’s on the album state too. It was the first song I ever heard by them. I was 8 years old and they played it on Much Music
People hate Creed, and I hate some of their work, but that first record is a banger. One may be my favourite song they ever wrote. Also, culturally relevant now.
Honestly, thanks to Alter Bridge, I think we can officially say Creed wasn't a bad band so much as Scott Stapp was a bad singer and writer. Alter Bridge also kinda makes me wish Wes Borland, John Otto and Sam Rivers had a second band with somebody besides Fred Durst on vocals.
About half of them I really am a big fan of. Stained Practically saved my life through some more darker teenage times I had. Paired With Korn, and really put on one of the best shows ive ever seen at Louder Then Life in Kentucky. Ive always liked Alien Ant Farm as well as Creed and even Nickleback, and I thought Saliva has a good Bakers Dozen of decent tracks. FFDP HollyWood Undead and Hoobastank has some OK songs but not a ton.
My list 10. The Bleeding - FFDP 9. It’s Time - Imagine Dragons 8. It’s Been Awhile - Staind 7. The River - Good Charlotte 6. Crawling In the Dark - Hoobastank 5. Drops of Jupiter - Train 4. This Love - Maroon 5 3. Take A Look Around - Limp Bizkit 2. My Own Prison - Creed 1. Leader of Men - Nickelback
When I saw "This Love", I thought that it was from Pantera, so I was about to have a heart attack, but then I saw that it was from Maroon 5, so it's ok. And honestly, I would put "Break Stuff" at no1, even if it has repetitive lyrics, and the band is arguably bad, it sounds good. Anyway, have a nice day!
Creeds' first album was tight. There's a song on it that they never released as a single that was heavier than anything they did in later albums, Illusion. Until you see a sweat, half naked chic on a Stripper pole grinding to it you'll never know the love
“Re-Arranged” by Limp Bizkit is probably the number 1 example for me. I hate Limp Bizkit, but that song is actually pretty decent. Good instrumental, mellow but enveloping vibe, catchy little melodic touches, and Fred Durst is actually tolerable. Plus, it has a great bass line.
Limp Bizkit isn´t a bad band. Only Fred Durst kinda destroys their art. I can´t say how good the instrumental section worked together. I´ve been always impressed by their sound and Wes Borland had the greatest costumes during this time. "Significant Other" and "Chocolate Starfish And The Hotdog Flavoured Water" are amazing. I ever wished a Durst-Mute-Button. And remember "Hold On" with Scott Weiland. A great song and even Durst was good there. Or "N Together Now" with Method Man. Or the "Nookie"- Sample in the beginning. The greatest Ringtone ever.
@@Sockenstreifschuss They were just one of those bands that thrived in that specific decade. Five years earlier or five years later they never would have made it.
In no way alien ant farm is a bad band, they had a unique sound since 1st album. Same for creed. I know you''ve already kind of acknowledged that, i still had to stress on it.
We played crawling in the dark in a cover band for awhile - was actually pretty fun to play that delay ridden intro/verse riff and the crowd dug it. "Home" is a killer song by Staind, often overlooked, we always get every other mediocre song from them on the radio.
I don’t know what you mean man, black veil brides is honestly a seriously overlooked band. Their guitarists are great, and I actually really think andy’s vocals sound good. At least he’s got a unique voice and doesn’t sound like he’s squeezing his nuts throughout the entire song. Vale is one of my favorite albums of all time, and I think basically every song on that album is really good. Sorry for the rant, you can have your opinions obviously but from what you said about them it just seemed like you only heard their popular songs.
Bruh! Alien Ant Farm is a great band! Songs such as; Universe, S.S. Recognize, Tia Lupe, Echo Park, Rubber Mallet, Bad Morning, Nova Hands, Whisper, Courage, Wish, She's Only Evil, Dirty Bomb, Simpatico, are all fantastic tracks, along with most of their discography. Most people dismiss them because of the Smooth Criminal cover (which I hold in higher regard then the original but that's just my preference). They honestly have one of the most solid catalogues from all of the Nu-Metal/Alt. Metal bands of that era.
Wrote a similar comment and i completely agree. It's really a shame. Their musicianship is on another level than most of their contemporaries too. I kind of consider AAF like if Incubus kept more of that quirkiness and weirdness after Science when they wrote Make Yourself. Although i have to admit their last album was painfully inconsistent. The songs that sounded like them were amazing and the songs with clear cowrites were terrible (you listed all fantastic songs so you probably know exactly what I'm talking about). Like quality literally split down the middle for me lol
@@BliboranBass BliboranBass That is a pretty apt comparison my friend! The reason behind the inconsistency on the last album is due to it being in the works since 2011. The songs that are more akin to their style were written earlier (you can find some performances and early demos of Yellow Pages and Simpatico for example) and the songs that have strayed are later develops, which, yes left the album quite inconsistent and a bit generic in some instances. A lot of the songs have went through several different phases to appeal to current trends (although they came to late, like the main single "Let 'em Know" (I can't quite remember but I'm pretty sure that is the title haha) which had a dubstep influenced breakdown). While I did not mind the weaker songs personally as sometimes Pop songs can be a good palate cleanser (especially after listening to heavier and/or more experimental musical styles for a while) it is a shame that it turned out the way it did, which also resulted in The bassist Tye Zamora leaving too (whom was imo the best member). But alas it is what it is and we can only hope that the next record (which was in the process of being written before the pandemic) is much better regardless of the direction they take their music.
I can still listen to ANThology and truANT as i did when they all came out. Made my late high school and early college days. They definitely had a lot more going on than covering Smooth Criminal.
The dark horse album is so $exual. Like one or two songs like that on a album is fine. But its kinda bad when 70% of the songs on the album are like that.
@@keatonmiller7883 i can agree. I have a soft spot for Dark Horse because my dad always played it when I was a kid. And it's a nostalgic album for me. So is Here and Now.
If I had a pick, it would be Blurry by Puddle of Mudd. I really like how the guitar sounds in that particular song and the lyrics are good (for Puddle of Mudd standards so I guess that equals out to 'decent'). Overall, I have a soft spot for this one. Never really liked the bands music outside of that.
Come Clean as a whole was actually a great album. They never made anythimg that good again unfortunately. Wes Scantlin needs outside input more, because he's capable of making good music.
The natural harmonics in the verse, and the melodic way they used them, are great. Lyrically it is awful, and actually kind of disgusting, because it took the Seattle grunge attitude of genuine subjects of loss and disenfranchisement, and turned it around into the worst shallow, pandering bullshit. Whining about insincerity while being completely insincere.
You know this is why I like your videos. When a certain other UA-camr did a video on AAF he basically used it as an excuse to go on a nu-metal bash fest. Anyways yeah that early Nickelback is surprisingly good.
The only problem I’m having is the second part of the title, “bad bands”. A lot of those bands aren’t “bad” in the sense of music, it might not be some people’s taste, but bad....dunno bout that one
He addressed this in the intro. "Like what you like, this list is generalized" etc. As someone who likes at least some of the music on this list, I'm not offended at all.
Well since he’s going off personal opinion. So In his sense yes they are bad. I don’t like anyone on this list. But I do like one globally hated band. Which is limp bizkit.
Save You by Simple Plan is definitely one I would have to mention. That song, and most other songs on their self titled album, show that they can write about more than whining and complaining, and most people who hate the band for that don’t pay attention to that album, which doesn’t have any of the problems that most people complain about them for. When I’m Gone is also another great one by them.
When you mentioned that Drops of Jupiter came out during the nu-metal era, I was confused. I looked it up and I found out that the song was released 20 years ago. I thought the song was from 2007 or something but seeing that it came out over a year before I was born is insane. Also, I thought I was the only one who thought that was their only bearable song. Hey Soul Sister is so saccharine it makes me wanna take their stupid ukulele and hang myself with the strings.
the same thing can be said about most modern rap slow it down and listen you'll probably die inside it's and issue with modern music is in the past there were many good songs with bad ones thrown in however now it's all rubbish to a good beat with a few gems thrown in it's the same for all genres. skillet there new album really in comparison to there last three. taylor swift everything after red has been bad maybe 5 good decent song out of 40. owl city is an excellent example midsummer great album no new album for years comes back with his worst album ever in mobile orchestra then a few years later in my opinion brings out arguable his best album ever. if a band can't bring our constant good album maybe they shouldn't try to.
Saliva, at one time was known as to be the WWE’s favorite band because they always used their songs for all of their ppv themes. Songs like “Always”, I remember er first hearing as the theme for the 2002 Survivor Series which was the very first Elimination Chamber and when Shawn Michaels won his first world title in over ten years after retiring from an injured back.
Ah, I fondly remember one of my best friends way back in the day in high school blasting Crawling in the Dark with such joy. It was based on this song that I was led to believe Hoobastank was an overall good band. Years later I learned the truth.
There's a few other Hoobastank songs I'll definitely go to bat for and defend besides Crawling in the Dark: Running Away Pieces Same Direction What Happened to Us? From the Heart Good Enough If I Were You
My two are: "Break Stuff" by Limp Bizkit. Always loved this song despite the fact it makes me feel so bad for Wes. Love the crunching riff. Going old school: "Uncle Tom's Cabin" by Warrant. They were bad because that's what sold records. If you listen to Dog Eat Dog, they did know how to play and wanted to be heavy. But that ship had sailed after their first two albums. That being said, the story in Uncle Tom's Cabin, composition, instrumentation(they use a banjo, 12 string acoustic, 6 string acoustic, and electric and make it all work) make it an incredible song.
Hollywood Undead is like Insane Clown Posse, cheesy juvenile rap but harmless fun. They have quite a few songs that break the mold, such as Young and Hear Me Now.
I never really had that much respect for Hollywood Undead because their shit was just so cheesy and ridiculous, but a few months ago they went full SJW and said they are almost like ashamed of their old songs because it glorifies the objectification of women and drugs and booze and "rape culture" and I just about rolled my eyes so hard I went blind. That was their entire shtick, and now they're trying to distance themselves from their old cheesy party songs when that's the only thing that people liked about them in the first place.
djjazzyjeff123 that’s the most opposite of what rock is. Just like Foster the People not playing “Pumped up Kicks” anymore because it’s about school shootings. Weak sauce
@@gpoindexter1426 Yeah but it's not that it's like adult content that they're ashamed of it it's because they're all overly politically correct now. Hollywood Undead's songs are like the least politically correct songs I can think of, and now they're ashamed of the only thing people liked about them. There's nothing more cringey to me than when a "joke band" tries to go serious.
@@djjazzyjeff1232 I agree with you for the most part, but to be fair, they did have some serious songs on their early albums too, they are just overlooked because of all the songs about partying and thug life. -_- But 'Young' or 'Paradise Lost' from the first album are surprisingly deep. Of course 'Bullet' from the second album. Also, both 'The Diary' and 'Pour Me' quite openly talk about alcoholism.
Thanks for including Movies, I absolutely love that song, especially the lyric, it's simple but I always found it moving. Also liked Bug Bytes from the Spiderman soundtrack. I don't know many Staind songs but there's some other good ones. Also agree that Hear Me Now is the best Hollywood Undead song.

Alien Ant Farm definitely had a lot of good things going for them, and I thought it was a shame they never got much attention after the "Smooth Criminal" cover. That was a damn good cover though.
It was mediocre, at best. Tight and well-produced, but entirely soulless.
Tbh that whole album was very solid
"Attitude" was a very, very good song.
AAF one of my top favorite bands, tons of great songs
the perfect litmus test according to TheRussianBadger "if you don't know who Alien Ant Farm is i know that you're a zoomer"
“How You Remind Me” by Nickelback is a song I still think is a full on banger and I will very much defend it.
That whole album is good!!!
Joshua Hale that’s probably my favorite song from that group
Same
DIEHARDT 8838 it really is, pre-sellout Nickelback was a pretty good modern rock band. Kinda sad they went from actually having passion in music to just trying to cash a real quick check.
I like Never Again. I despise everything else they've done haha.
I'm a casual Nickelback fan so it made me happy that they made the list. My favorite song by them is "Never Again." Its a narrative song about domestic violence and it makes me so emotional every time I listen to it.
Great one! Because of You is another awesome Nickelback song. I defy anyone to try and make a case that the riff is anything but brilliant!
Some rock and metal fans like to hate on nickleback, but they just themselves look ridiculous.
Lullaby hits me like a freight train tbh, because of what it's about
I love the song Savin Me by Nickelback.
1. 1:09 “Breathe” Nickelback
2. 2:31 “The Bleeding” 5FDP
3. 4:00 “Always” Saliva
4. 5:34 “In the End” Black Veil Brides
5. 7:24 “Crawing in the Dark” Hoobastank
6. 8:53 “For You” Staind
7. 10:32 “Drops of Jupiter” Train
8. 12:02 “Movies” Alien Ant Farm
9. 13:30 “Hear Me Now” Hollywood Undead
10. 15:15 “My Own Prison” Creed
Thank you!!! Damn, dude yakka yakka yakka blah bkah blah fccckkkk come onnnn
1 should be "burn it to the ground"
Soundtrack after each song transaction?
Train is phenomenal live though
Man, these lists are so pretentious. I feel like this is the rock hipster crapping on anything popular as not good. Cool story, bro.
I’m not a die hard fan or anything but Staind has so many good songs that you can tell Aaron poured his emotion into. Staind’s music helped me through some tough times back in the day and I get why Aaron isn’t liked but man Staind had a lot of good shit
The Outside, Everything Changes, It's Been Awhile, and Falling are some of my favorites
HunterGatherer Agreed. Dysfunction is still one of my all-time favorite albums.

My niece went to school with Andy Black
Jinxx is about to be a father
@@loveandrespectme nice! I've fallen out of touch with him over the years, but he should be a great father if the way he was back then reflects who he is now. The Alien Ant Farm entry does make me think of a topic: A list (or a series) about One Hit Wonder bands that have good songs, but can't escape that one hit in the eyes of the majority.
They have no other good songs though... They can’t write lyrics for crap. “We come long way to treat you bad and throw away” yikes.
Todd in the Shadows FTW
So Oasis, then?
@@Savannah_Simpson highly disagree.
My 8 year old son turned me into them🙂
Over the years I've weirdly gone from being indifferent to Black Veil Brides to being a casual defender of them.
Love bvb
I'm on the fence with Five Finger Death Punch - I like their music, but dont really understand why they get so much hate.
lost potential
Ian_Harper_Guitarist love ffdp
Their earlier stuff was good. Seems like the last few albums were just made for radio
Ian, i agree 100% with ya man
F8 was a disapointment, i gotta admit it but And Justice For None was amazign and so were the albums before. I'm with Ian here, they're msuic is great, why are they hated. Maybe it's the hate that demotivates?
I find that Five Finger Death Punch did a Great job on their “F8” album! Anyone out there in agreement?
👍👍👍👍
It's not a bad album but not really my taste.
yes tbh i got ticked when i saw it on the list bc 5fdp is my favorite band and i use to be an all type music person
Brighter side of Grey was really good
I’m not a huge fan but I agree it was a solid album
I swear this is like "here is a playlist of 2000s bands you still like"
Honestly, Burn It to the Ground is another really cool Nickelback song in my opinion, it’s heavy as hell and that guitar riff just kicks ass
I love Burn it to the Ground. It's one of the only NB songs I'll admit to liking. If I recall, there was a track on the Silver Side Up (?) album that was a bit good too. Was it called Never Again? Or something like that? Similar chugging riff to BITTG.
@@susi-emily Checked it on Tidal, and Never Again's the first song on the album. :D
THAT SHIT MAKES ME BATSHIT CRAZY
Burn it to the Ground is by far my favorite Nickelback song.
@@mattdominick1679 Same, it’s so good
I feel sorry for BVB.
Why does everyone loathe the emo era?
Ironically they’re better than practically every other lame emo core band...people just can’t get past the image..
Ice Reduction Through Daughter Combustion one of the worst music videos ever. Shame really because the song’s awesome
FFDP is awesome. Guess taste is subjective. They're fan community is very supportive too. Wrong side of heaven? Really?
They just seem effortless that's why they're are considered bad. They're good just not fully fullfilled
I do like FFDP.. I loved carnival of souls
They suck.
I actually like Hollywood Undead but can understand why people don’t.
hollywood undead is my regret band. especially their earlier stuff makes me cringe
People seem to dislike bands that go 'we're awesome, screw the haters'
@@cinematicsterling6897 I find Sell Your Soul to be their only song worth listening to. Everything else is awful.
I like A lot of Hollywood undead stuff tbh. Hear me now is a weaker song imo
Hollywood Undead felt like 3 different bands with the same members, one of which was good and the other two were awful.
Mudshovel by Stained is actually good. Nice and heavy with a dropped 7 string guitar. I'm surprised that's not the track you chose.
The entire album dysfunction was awesome!! Home, Suffocate, Just Go, Raw. I had the CD playing in my car for at least a year.
Dysfunction is a really good album...in my opinion. I still have a lot of songs from that album on my playlists.
Bad ass album..in my opinion their only good album.
Every once in awhile I'll go back to them
I’m just gonna say it: My Own Prison is a legit good album
Amazing album. One of the best rock albums of the 90s imo. But to each their own.
Yeah. They should have retired after it though. Lol
Same. I remember when they were playing local shows with the stuff that would become My Own Prison.. actual amazing shows
I used to like it. Then I realized the drummer plays exactly the same beat in ever single song. Now it's un-listenable
FORRRRRRRR REAL
Leader of men by Nickelback is always good. Especially the acoustic version
I’m glad someone else likes the song Movies by AAF. I still listen to it to feel nostalgic.
Always loved that song.
Creepy Kerri same here. I had that track on many burned CDs and on my old MP3 player. It was the sound of my youth.
I like that song way more than their cover of Smooth Criminal
That album is one of the few I can listen to all the way through. I’ve definitely heard worse.
it's an underrated track and deserves much more credit than it gets!
Movies by Alien Ant Farm is actually a really great track, I like it way more than Smooth Criminal.
And don't forget happy death day !!
I think you´re right and they really have a many great songs. Great harmonies and badass basslines. Tye Zamora ia a beast.
Unfortunately, the issue with BVB has nothing to do with the actual music.
Borussia Dortmund?
Very nice take 👌
Saliva's probably most famous for doing Batista's entrance theme, "I Walk Alone" - also a good song. Listened to a bit of their other music on the strength of that one and found it wasn't my thing, but I Walk Alone is a very solid song.
Nickelback is shit and the perfect example of what's wrong with the music industry today.
I actually like Staind. Their album Dysfunction is still one of my favourite albums to this day. While I liked Break the cycle, I found it to be too mainstream rock for me. The same goes for most of their albums. Now, their last album was really great as well! Their best since Dysfunction, in my opinion!
See i love Hollywood Undead but I get why people hate 'em. They're my guilty pleasure band.
Think its just because of the feud with Deuce. I love them!
They've got some good party music.
Hated that band at first. And really cant stand that first album. But toured with them a few times and the guys are great. Came around to liking their stuff based on the live show.
I've seen them live before at a rock festival and everyone, goes pretty nuts. People talk shit but they get a crowd hyped AF.
I like some of their songs, especially bullet, when I was at my worst in my teens I would play that song a lot because it made me feel better.

Walk Away would also be a solid choice.
Coming Down
Hard To See
Wrong side of Heaven

WItA "Crossing Over", "Far From Home"

Staind WAS awesome. Their first album was absolutely amazing. Break the Cycle was good, then it went downhill from there. Saw them live a long time ago and it was great. Mushok is an amazing guitarist and is fun to watch.
I think they stayed solid into 14 shades of grey at least
Really like that song Excess Baggage.
Dysfunction
I saw them in concert my freshmen year in high school. Godsmack and Cold opened up for them. I was impressed by all 3 bands. Cold especially put on such a memorable show. I agree that Staind went downhill in their latter years, but they put out some killer songs I still jam to.
I feel like Mudshovel by Staind deserved the spot
That would mean Staind is a bad band..which they aren't
I thought Pay to Play was pretty heavy.
That last album they put out is really fantastic!
Five finger death punch hollywood undead saliva black veil brides definitely belong on this list. Nickleback and train i accept on the list. Creed is pushing it.
Dysfunction is a phenomenal album. Everything after that.... 👎👎👎
Great comment
Al the right reasons was the last good album from Nickelback imo. Black horse has some ok songs, but as an album is meh. The State and Curb are my favorite albums.
Idk what album its on but the song Follow you Home has one of the greatest opening drums ever
Hands down the best creed song ever written is What If
Tell that to the entirety of their My Own Prison album.
After watching this video, I actually looked up "What if" for the first time in probably a decade, just to confirm that, if we can call any Creed songs good, it would be that one.
So, yeah. Agreed.
I love Bullets and Rusted And Weathered, too
@@erythrozyt1168 Bullets has really grown on me since I purchased the album its first week. I used to like it, but now it is a favorite.

WSOF is one of the best heavy metal songs I've heard
Both bands have extremely deuchey singers and five finger pushes their conservativism too much for me. I know staind is conservative too and Aaron Lewis talks about his views a lot but usually not on stage. So I mostly just hate five finger. I feel like staind is just like puddle of mudd.
@@standarsh1583 yeah exactly. But for me it’s honestly not about the politics it’s mostly about their mediocre music. For the record though, their politics are terrible.

4. This Love - Maroon 5
3. Take A Look Around - Limp Bizkit
2. My Own Prison - Creed
1. Leader of Men - Nickelback
Interesting list. I love It's Time and Take a Look Around.
Maroon 5 had a good first one-third of a debut album and everything after that has been disposable.
I prefer Demons or On Top of the World from early Imagine Dragons.
PrometheusTV The River is a great song
Creeds' first album was tight. There's a song on it that they never released as a single that was heavier than anything they did in later albums, Illusion. Until you see a sweat, half naked chic on a Stripper pole grinding to it you'll never know the love

AAF also had their song 'wish' on Tony hawk pro skater 3. It was one of my favorites on that soundtrack
Omg you put crash in your video, that's so cool. When I started this video I thought I was watching a Crash video tbh
Going to have to agree here.
@@Sockenstreifschuss Wes borland was also a decent musician. Played multiple instruments. Played guitars with multiple set ups just because he could.
Iam not a huge fan but their live shows are great..seen them twice and both times had everyone moving like them or not everyone was moving having fun.
Absolutely the best thing to come out of Creed is Alter Bridge! Thanks for the video!
I always thought Mudshovel was the best thing Staind ever did. Also, My Own Prison (Creed) is still a fantastic album.
That, home, or fade
Drops of Jupiter is the epitome of "mall music" or music during the emotional ending of a teen drama on the CW/WB
Hoobastank had a ton of great songs off the crawling in the dark album
Agreed.
Yes, exactly. AAF is the most underrated band.
I can still listen to ANThology and truANT as i did when they all came out. Made my late high school and early college days. They definitely had a lot more going on than covering Smooth Criminal.
“Just to Get High” and “Burn it to the Ground” by Nickelback are decent enough.
The dark horse album is so $exual. Like one or two songs like that on a album is fine. But its kinda bad when 70% of the songs on the album are like that.
keaton miller The album has 11 tracks whereas 4 of them fit your description.
Lullaby too
Dont get me wrong. I dont dislike them. Im just saying that i like some of there other albums better.
Totally agree, blurry still a great song
Come Clean as a whole was actually a great album. They never made anythimg that good again unfortunately. Wes Scantlin needs outside input more, because he's capable of making good music.
Rawk Guy I’d argue Psycho, Merry Go Round, and Famous from the Famous album were good
The natural harmonics in the verse, and the melodic way they used them, are great. Lyrically it is awful, and actually kind of disgusting, because it took the Seattle grunge attitude of genuine subjects of loss and disenfranchisement, and turned it around into the worst shallow, pandering bullshit. Whining about insincerity while being completely insincere.
Drift & Die is my favorite Puddle of Mudd song
You know this is why I like your videos. When a certain other UA-camr did a video on AAF he basically used it as an excuse to go on a nu-metal bash fest. Anyways yeah that early Nickelback is surprisingly good.
I think I know the video you’re talking about. The one where Three Days Grace was labeled as nu metal.
@@Romax-pg2is Had to go back and rewatch the video to make sure but yep that's the one.
I agree there I also feel attacked
Well since he’s going off personal opinion. So In his sense yes they are bad. I don’t like anyone on this list. But I do like one globally hated band. Which is limp bizkit.
@@johnmarston4315 Nah man as long as the nu metal community are around Limp Bizkit will always be revered in some way. I still jam them.
@@TheFlygonproductions yeah I guess and I forgot to mention in my comment above that I actually like black veil brides
I like that framed picture of Pete Loeffler (Chevelle) singing in the background.
This is totally agree with. I’ve outgrown most of Simple Plan, but their third and a bit of the fourth I think are still pretty good
Thomas The Average I agree
Their 2008 album is the band at their best, it's a shame that they never improved upon this.
@@anakinsmith4770 ok troll lol
The opening snare and bass on the Nickleback song Follow you Home is a amazing opening
For You was a great track. Whenever I go into Apple Music and see the “for you” tab I think about that song.
You mean his first world title in like 4 and a half years. He was only gone for 4 years and then won the world title later in the year he came back.
They did the theme for Batista too. I Walk Alone
@@RainMaker_816 honestly, this song is powerful
I thought Bleed for Me was a great one.
James Owens “bleed for me” I honestly do not remember that song. I feel like I need a history lesson to give that song a proper context.
Loved that you bookended this video the two worst bands of all time!
I would have added
Puddle of Mudd - Blurry
Limp Bizkit - My Way
Imagine Dragons - Radioactive
My Way is just awful.
I like all 3 of these bands
What about Fuel - Hemorrage (In My Hands)?
Actually a lot of people think Limp Bizkit’s best song is Rearranged!!
The only good song by Imagine Dragons is On Top of the World!!
Crawling In The Dark is SUCH A GOOD SONG!!
I remember when "Always" by Saliva was used as the theme song for Survivor Series 2002.
Right out of the box with Five Flavored Fruit Punch, Nice!
Ah, I fondly remember one of my best friends way back in the day in high school blasting Crawling in the Dark with such joy. It was based on this song that I was led to believe Hoobastank was an overall good band. Years later I learned the truth.
There's a few other Hoobastank songs I'll definitely go to bat for and defend besides Crawling in the Dark:
Running Away
Pieces
Same Direction
What Happened to Us?
From the Heart
Good Enough
If I Were You
Same Direction is an underrated banger.
@@martinhroch344 I agree both Crawling and Same Direction are great...... but Same Direction is like almost the same song.
@@someperson2287 I like Same Direction more for some reason.
Out of Control is my favorite from them.
Remember Me is also decent.
Hoobastank have some pretty solids songs and very good musicians, still one of my favorite band
My two are:
"Break Stuff" by Limp Bizkit.
That being said, the story in Uncle Tom's Cabin, composition, instrumentation(they use a banjo, 12 string acoustic, 6 string acoustic, and electric and make it all work) make it an incredible song.
aye, uncle toms cabin was a huge jam!
I’ll check the Warrant song out. Thanks.
Break Stuff is so damn catchy. It's a little intense in the bridge lyrically. It's a good song for the gym.
First 3 Bizkit albums are great
As Spider-Man would say, "Everybody gets one!"
Weak sauce
Aiko Yumi my thoughts exactly.🤙🏽
