  • Using acrylic modelling paste under oil paint to create texture and impasto, this class shows how these surfaces can be achieved without long drying time. Attempting this effect with oil paint alone is challenging because oils can take weeks, or even months, to dry. With the faster drying time of acrylic modelling paste, you can establish these qualities and carry on with your oil painting.

This is timely for me. I have a large commission to do and I want to add some depth and interest to the painting. I was told that because the modeling paste is acrylic, it can’t be mixed with oil paint? If I COULD mix it in with the oil paint it would help speed up the process for me versus having to first apply the acrylic paste, let it dry, then go over the dried paste with the oils. ???
