Yeah. My company car was the Ford Mondeo Titanium. It was a total rep-mobile. Still, it did have a very large boot, which helped with booze runs to Calais, which were paid for by my company fuel card. That's about the only good thing I can say about it.

Your car search talk is scary accurate. It blows my mind how many people either go to a dealer and buy the first car they sit in or ask for buying advice and completely ignore or complain about it. Probably the funniest story about this was someone calling the car pro radio show and being given a few recommendations for what they were needing and then calling back for a self own to tell him they bought the BMW instead of the Lexus even though they shouldn’t have because they aren’t sure they can actually afford it.
@@jblyon2”i bought the equinox because it was way cheaper” 3 weeks later: “why the hell did i buy this thing” history will keep repeating itself forever
Honestly every person needs to be assigned a car-informed close friend to actually recommend them a good car. The amount of people who really really need it is staggering. Same for real estate
Except it wasn't. I used to drive the PHEV version. They threw the entire air cooled battery in the trunk. It removed almost all the usable trunk space. Unlike what Honda did with the Accord/Clarity and split the battery between the trunk and under the back seat so you know.. you could still have a trunk. I would have kept it if it wasn't for that. I'll also add that the rear struts and strut mounts were completely shot. Probably when I bought it at 70K miles. They were leaking and the tires were cupped at 100K. Was only on the outer tread on inside side so I didn't see the tire wear until I had a flat in the middle of my work parking lot. Ford likely never put upgraded parts to account for the extra 600lbs of battery. Some asshole bought that thing new for $45K MSRP, fully loaded with ACC except for the self parking feature. I got it for $12,500 OTD and the dealer listed it at $13,500. They didn't want it on the lot anymore in 2016, probably because no one wanted a PHEV then. Ridiculous depreciation drop.
@@anthonyreynolds2365 That was kind of my point. The trunk without the battery pack was huge because it was designed to have a battery pack in it. And yes, the battery pack did take up a fair amount of the trunk space.
My buddies and I have outrun many a tornado in a 2013 fusion. It’s reliable, surprisingly stable at high speeds, roomy, comfy, and fantastic on gas. However my buddy’s fusion looks like a black golf ball now from all the storm chases, it still powers on.
I wonder if you put 93 octane in it if it would wake up the engine. The timing boost may be highly limited because the crap 87 octane speedway fuel. I try to run Shell or BP because I see a noticeable difference in increased mpg compared to speedway.
I likewise have had great experiences in rented Fusions. I really like this car (especially in hybrid trim) and have legitimately no idea what the hell crawled up this video's ass.
Funny, I too have outrun a tornado in a Fusion, granted mines an '07. "Holy sh*t! a tornado!" "Is that tornado standing still??" "Um no, it's headed right for us..." *Angry 3 litre Duratech noises going 117mph down a 2 lane highway in rural Iowa... 😂

Right? I sat back in my chair a bit during that part. He does have a great voice though, guy should have been a vocalist in an early '00s local PA metal/HxC band.
I love my 2017 Platinum hybrid. The acceleration is a lil sluggish but it gets me where I need to go and it's taken me and my friends on many weekend road trips comfortably. Plus I think the Fusion's appearance has aged better than the MKZs from the same generation
I have a 2012 Ford Fusion. 260K+ miles on it, and it's still chugging along just fine. Second best car I've owned (the best being a 2005 Toyota Corolla, which lasted 310K miles, and I'd probably still be driving it if I didn't get runover by a semi truck).
I had one of that generation with a v6. They were much nicer to drive and better built than the newer ones. The steering wheel was a bit too big, and the transmission was stupid, but I enjoyed it. Oh, and the rev-hang when you let off the throttle at high RPM was very frustrating.
Those have the benefit of essentially being a Mazda 6. The 2.3l and 3.0l Duratec models are pretty dang reliable, the 3.5l is iffy because of the water pump issues.
When I get hit with the ol' "C'MERE I WANNA TELL YA SUMPTIN" I just act like I didn't hear him. Just keep walking. Works every time and infuriates him more than saying anything.
Yeah because his BMW is always in the shop, his Mustang GT got wrapped around a tree, and his 911 costs and arm and a leg to maintain. Boring and reliable is desirable if the rest of your garage is exotic.
He is right. That was a perfectly good vehicle with Prius-like reliability wrapped in a much more attractive sheetmetal and better handling. It wasn't fast but some of us just want a reliable car that doesn't look plain vanilla and can take some corners with aplomb
On our first family trip to the US, my non English-speaking parents absolutely SCREAMED at me for getting a ford fusion as a rental. Because over here in Europe, a fusion is a boxy city hatchback that isn't comfortable for more than grocery getting. They shut up once they saw it of course
If you care to give the guy that owns this a hand. Let him know to get new spark plugs, massive improvement. We had no engine lights but it felt like a pedal car, changed those out and it ran so much better. Also the horsepower drops by like 40hp when you dont use premium.
9, according to the Ford website circa 2015-16. They kinda talk out of both sides of their mouth: owners manual says 87 is perfectly acceptable and that premium will 'increase performance', but the spec sheets (and all the brochures I've seen) say that they got the advertised numbers using premium.
I bought a used 2013 fusion titanium when I was in college. It was the first major purchase I ever made. Honestly it was a great car for a daily. Good mileage, never once left me stranded through the 50k miles I had it. Ended up selling it for like 4k less then I paid 3 years and 50k miles later. I’d buy one again in a heartbeat
@@FlyingNDriving it's a gorgeous car. It's also inexpensive to maintain if you find the proper Indy mechanic. I agree with 99.9% of all of Mr. Regular's reviews. This one I'm afraid is Brian's projection of fear of getting old and the feeling of self insecurity (we all do it it's very human) onto an object. In this case he is projecting it onto the Fusion. He does this every so often when he gets an American everyman's car to review. @@tripleoo0 No, seriously. If this exact car, in this exact condition and build quality had been badged as a Mazda instead of a Ford, I think he'd've been a lot less harsh on it
My dad owns a Fusion similar to this one, so far it’s lasted him 195k miles with basic maintenance and a bottle of head gasket sealer. For a time I was driving his car after my I wrecked my Z and I will say despite it being a car for grandad, it has its go. I put 91 in it for shits and giggles and it came alive, like 52 year old Bobby Unser winning the Pikes Peak Rally again. I will be honest and say that the interior quality is god awful and it felt outdated even when it was new but I hold a special respect for it, because it showed me that basic ass sedans can have some fun when given the right chances. It made me understand why my dad hasn’t ditched the car for midlife crisis mobile.
I had to get a car between the heights of the pandemic and car prices being absolutely ridiculous. Needed my mom's help to buy it so she got to choose, and a 2014 Fusion SE with the 170HP 2.5L i4 was the most affordable option we could find from a dealer. I don't want to keep this car any longer than I have to. It works, it's a car. It has okay gas mileage. It has plenty of trunk space. But there's nothing about it that makes me love it. Im very grateful though to it and my mom, that i have a car thats as good as it is.
I had my car guy coworker watch this. His response was, "this was the longest dump I've ever seen". Not taking an actual dump, just shi**ing all over a Ford. It was his first RCR. Pretty sure you got another sub.
I had a 2010 Fusion hybrid. I loved it. It was my dad's car, and I inherited it when my dad passed and mom stopped driving. So the part about adopting your dad's personality is totally on point. It got t-boned in a parking lot at about 20 mph, which totalled the damned thing.
Shame they discontinued the Fusion. Very quiet and comfortable ride. You could get a brand new decently equipped SE Ecoboost with the Tech package for $18k that had a msrp of $26 back in 2019.
That’s exactly the missed point of all of this. Nobody ever paid sticker price. Camry and Accord may be better but they were never rebated. For eight grand less the Fusion was a steal.
Had one as a rental years ago and my dad struggled to get into the front seats due to the rake of the windshield and his bad back. He actually said the Malibu was more old guy friendly lol.
I agree. I’m 6’3 and every time I ride in my buddy’s I sit in the rear because I will almost knock myself out every time I get up front. Problem with that though is that the tops of the back windows are so low that it turns my neck to look out the side windows 😂 other than that it’s roomy
My uncle owns a first generation Ford fusion with the Duratech V6 and it’s been the most reliable car he’s ever owned. It’s also black on black, so it kind of looks like a luxury car inside and out.

I remember when my brother got this car back in 2016. We’d given him the option of pretty much anything else, like an Accord or Camry, but since he didn’t care a single bit he chose the Fusion. Then, 3 years later, in 2019, we once again gave him the choice of having an Accord, Camry or Fusion, and lo and behold, he chose the Fusion again. It was the exact same color and spec as the last.
I’ll take your cohesive, and raise you “why spend more on different injection molds when I can make everyone look the same while charging like they’re unique.”
My neighbor had this exact car, color, options, everything. She traded her C class for it to get her payments down. She left her keys and her pistol in it overnight constantly. It was stolen. She now has some Hyundai "suv". Yup, that's the kind of customer.
I don't mind the styling but this car just screams "corporate" at me. It's like the kind of car for someone who wants a Taurus but doesn't want to look like a cop.
I looked for those used about a year ago when I was looking to replace my tired but trusty 2012 Fiesta 5 spd. The 2013-2014 Fusion 1.6T manual were thin as ice when new and are even harder to find used. I gave up and ended up with a Jetta 5spd
I bought a used 2014 Ford Fusion SE in 2018 as a 22 year old college grad. I sorted by lowest price and bought the nicest car on the page. I went from a 1997 Saturn SC1 Coupe to this Fusion. I put on 90k miles in 1.5 years. I needed the trunk space in sales. I sold it. It is exactly what you said, a stop gap. Also, my mass air flow sensor went bad in the middle of an intersection. I lost all power. People kept flipping me off and honking. Then the McDonalds drive thru guy ran out and pushed me to the side of the road. That is my most Ford Fusion moment.
Just got a 2014 2.5L inherited from my father and honestly, after driving a base model Fiesta Sedan for the past 5 years of my life in highschool / college the thing drives like a dream compared to true economy shitboxes like the fiesta sedan, in this thing I don't get passed because my foot's on the floor and its not going anywhere, and in the 10 yrs my dad had it its had zero problems aside from a recall.

I put about a thousand miles on it, and i couldn't tell you a single thing about this car. So yeah, that's my review of the 2013 Ford Fusion.
Man, I loved these when they came out. I am a Ford apologist though - I’ve owned a MK3 Focus and last gen Escape and while their build quality is crap tier their chassis tuning has always impressed me and I’d still have them over the equivalent GM or STELLANTIS product (if the Japanese offerings didn’t exist)!
The features were good on these cars for the time they were released too. You could get a fusion with a twin turbo v6 and AWD towards the end, as well as adaptive cruise control, heated and cooled seats, etc.
I used to be a GM guy, but out of all the cars I have ever had; only my Ford's have never given me problems. I had a 1995 Grand Marquis as my first car, and I abused the ever living hell out of that car. Jumped curbs, doughnuts, rockfords, J turns, jumped a few railroad tracks, and even went mudding in it once. It never once let me down for the three years I had it. Sold it to a family friend with 198K, and it served them as a daily for years while they completely neglected it. My uncle gave me his 04 Expedition Eddie Bauer that he bought new as a company car. It had 279K when I got it, and I drove it everywhere, used it for Lyft, took it off road, and went on vacation in it. I finally traded it in on my 2015 Fusion Hybrid when it had 338K. From new that truck only needed one ignition coil. Even the factory AC and cooled seats still worked. My uncle also gave me a 00 F-150 XL 4.6 that he bought as a company service truck. It had 170K miles when I saved it from being sent to the junk yard after he thought the head gasket was blown. Turns out it just needed a new water pump. I have since given it to my parents as their daily driver. it now has 240K and has only needed the alternator replaced. It was never cared for since new, but still asks for more abuse. I have been driving my 2015 Fusion Hybrid for the last three and half years. I got it with 55K, and it now has 130K miles; all without giving me a single problem. I never intended on being a Ford guy, but they won me over.
As someone whose 2020 Fusion SE AWD lease is about to end, this video was very entertaining. There's a lot called out here that is valid, but I have to also admit that my 2020 has gone 2.5 years without a recall or any major mechanical work. Just maintenance has kept it running the last 20k miles without a single issue. Maybe that's due to 7 years of Ford figuring out what not to do, or maybe it's luck. Either way it is primarily my wife's daily driver and she loves it for what it is, even if it's a Ford. The Audacity bit was excellent.
idk man my 53 y.o. dad bought a 16' base ecoboost with 70k on it for 6k at an auction, no rips or tears anywhere other than the center console. the leather seats are pretty cozy, he's put a good 25k miles on it now and its been entirely trouble free. Idk about how long the ecoboost motor's gonna last tho, but it seems to be running okay. Pretty quiet.
I have a '17 model that I got at 63k for 14.5k. I made damn sure to get the 2.5 NA engine. With that engine you lose the higher trims usually but it's a really well designed engine. I couldn't care less about the creaks, lack of luxury items and finer stuff just give me an engine that is simple and reliable lol. So far it's been a huge step up compared to my last car, an 03 Malibu and in the 2-ish years that I have owned it i only have had to do is oil changes, front pads+rotors and a wheel bearing. Thankfully it came with the Sync 3 but regular buttons for the ac controls.
I haven't done any looking into the sport model. When I was replacing the Malibu I just wanted something Ford/GM that was front wheel drive, commuter as fuck and narrowed selection by engine research. Saw lots of good praise for the 2.5 so I zoned in on that and was able to find my Fusion after searching.
I'm pretty sure getting robbed at a corner store at 2am when you have $7.38 in your wallet and none of your cards on you is better than owning an 03 Malibu
I have a '14 with the 2.5L it has 231,000 miles on it and all I've done is replace wear items i don't even do regular maintenance like i should i change the oil and that's about it 😅
I have the V6 Sport with AWD. I rather like mine. Its been an extremely reliable commuter for me. I have taken it coast to coast in Canada 4 times and I live up north in the territories with it. I have had zero issues with mine. Bought it new.
My mother has a 2018 Energi Titanium. Minus the fact the truck is almost unusable due to the oversized battery pack sitting back there, the car is quite nice, amazingly good on fuel (80% of her driving is in EV only) and also incredibly reliable. She came from a Mercedes C230 which chugged premium like it was going out of style and wasn't all too reliable (thank-you DaimlerChrysler) so she actually really loves that Ford.
I drove one of these as a loaner from the dealership once. I thought it was pretty nice. Basically the modern turaus but they didn't want to call it that for whatever reason.
These in hybrid or lowest trim with the 2.5 NA mazda engine are really good buys for their price. Extremely reliable and not the worst inside but a fully loaded ecoboost model like this is a hard pass
I was thinking the same I rented one of the lower trim models and enjoyed it. It is probably faster than the AWD Ecoboost. Also I can't get over that this is a Mondeo which is an amazing car that in Europe that goes up against BMWs but in America it never feels that good. I don't know why
I have the plug in hybrid version of this and the battery pack is so large that it renders the trunk basically unusable. I got it for real cheap back in like 2018 though and it's been mostly problem free since I owned it. honestly I really like it

We've had a Fusion Hybrid for a decade. It's been trouble free, gets 37 mpg on trips, is comfortable and well put together and has room for all of us. We got it at a discount off MSRP, no money down and 0% interest back when that was possible. One of the best purchases we've ever made.
The Fusion was made for fleet use. Ask any insurance adjuster and they’ll probably tell you they had a Fusion as a company car. And that folks is what a Fusion is, a company car, built to a price point to last a certain age/mileage until your fleet department orders you a new one. Same can be said for the Malibu.
Bought kid a 2013 hybrid used. Five years in she still loves it. One recall, and 46 mpg later. I loved it cause it was a comfortable enough back seat for when we asked her to drive us around. Would buy again.
I bought 2 different Mustangs from a dealership run by a friend, and got a great deal in exchange for a promise to always take them to his dealership for service. They always took care of me, and I got a rental Fusion to drive more often than not. I never felt so happy to get back in my V6 Mustang once it was finished.
Another perfect video, and right on the nose. This was my daily driver for 6 years. 2013 SE with all the addons you could do, I don't know why they didn't just get the Titanium since the only thing mine didn't have that the Titanium did was a better engine. I think the previous owners went over board because I go it cheap and it was only a year old with under 6k miles on it. It was a decent and serviable car. At the time I loved the baby Aston Martin vibe that it had and the tech was better than my previous car by a long shot. It was the pearl white but with a nice tint on the windows and larger tires it looked okay and my younger self felt special in it for a brief moment. That is until my county bought a felt of them in white because of course they did, its a very practical car for government.
I owned a 2014 Fusion for nine years, from new. Literally nothing ever went wrong with it in 120,000 miles. While I never loved it, I was really torn on trading it in when I bought a new car last year. It was thoroughly acceptable. This review is pretty spot on 😂
I had a manager who bought a Fusion in his mid 20s, and it was exactly like you said "good enough for the right price". While at the Hyundai dealership, getting my Sonata serviced, I was strolling around their cold cars under $20k. Jimmy told me I was in the “Red Zone” for work needed exceeded $10k. My Sonata was almost 15 years old and had almost 100k miles on the clock so I said “Well heck fire Norman. I’d feel like Pierce Brosnan in this slick Fusion.” My armrest needed to be reupholstered anyhow. The firm handshake and $3800 trade-in I got on my old Hyundai made me feel like I finally sewed one of those old Wild Oats. Great vid! Love Romans fake commercials lately! Fords mission for their middle sedan hasn't seemed to change much since the 80s. Its equivalent then was the Tempo. You could get it in awd then too, looked good, and was rental car fun to drive.
I have a 16’ Fusion Titanium 2.0 Ecoboost FWD model. Seems Ford listened because it has physical buttons in place of those haptic ones. It now has 205,000 miles and(knock on wood) has been extremely reliable as my daily. I drive around 100 miles a day. It’s not slow either, especially in cooler weather when it’s not pulling timing. Has plenty of torque, the turbo flutter is fun too. I’d guess the AWD version is slower due to the drivetrain loss and added weight. I also own a 2020 RS3.
I had a friend who's girlfriend owned one of these. They deserve the Fusion. You're line of "It makes you worry for the person that built it" was one of the first thoughts I had climbing into the back seat. They asked me what I thought of it, I told them it was a car. (Also cars still use SD cards for navigation primarily GM and Ford. I worked in a factory that produced car parts and we would frequently find them left in shipping crates)
I currently have a 2016 Fusion SE and I love it. You’re not wrong it is slow (I have the base N/A 2.5L 4 cylinder) but she cruises on the highway pretty nice, and the sound system is pretty good too
I’ve got a 2016 Energi. It sucks that there is no trunk space, but it works perfectly for my commute. I’ve done a few long distance drives in it, and I enjoyed it. There are a few stupid choices like the gas button being in the center console, and annoying that there no CarPlay.

I currently own a 2013 1.6 Ecoboost, owned for over 5 years now. IMO the car is pretty well built expect for transmission which has always been a slush box for an auto. (Also sync 2 has it’s moments). The car is well equipped for today’s standards and think the styling holds up well. I stay up to date on maintenance and the car takes care of me well.
The transmission is one of my few nitpicks with ours too. It's hesitant to shift from first to second which can make it pretty jerky in stop-and-go traffic. I seem to remember reading it was developed jointly with GM, which kinda figures. 😜

Probably the funniest story about this was someone calling the car pro radio show and being given a few recommendations for what they were needing and then calling back for a self own to tell him they bought the BMW instead of the Lexus even though they shouldn’t have because they aren’t sure they can actually afford it.

Had a Fusion Hybrid as a rental once. The trunk was absolutely designed with a battery pack in mind.
Some has a battery pack with the charger
Interesting, my stepdad's aunt and uncle drive one, I see a few around from time to time.
😂100% and yet I still bought one (previous gen)
@@anthonyreynolds2365 That was kind of my point. The trunk without the battery pack was huge because it was designed to have a battery pack in it. And yes, the battery pack did take up a fair amount of the trunk space.
My buddies and I have outrun many a tornado in a 2013 fusion. It’s reliable, surprisingly stable at high speeds, roomy, comfy, and fantastic on gas. However my buddy’s fusion looks like a black golf ball now from all the storm chases, it still powers on.

My coworker who owns many high performance vehicles frequently says his fusion plug in hybrid was one of the best cars he ever owned.
Yeah because his BMW is always in the shop, his Mustang GT got wrapped around a tree, and his 911 costs and arm and a leg to maintain. Boring and reliable is desirable if the rest of your garage is exotic.
My company used these as fleet vehicles for a long time. Perfectly serviceable US sedan, wish we got a follow-up.
Still have 2 in the work fleet, great stereo and comfy seats
He is right. That was a perfectly good vehicle with Prius-like reliability wrapped in a much more attractive sheetmetal and better handling.
It wasn't fast but some of us just want a reliable car that doesn't look plain vanilla and can take some corners with aplomb
Maybe because he lived 10 miles from work, never had to buy gas.

Roman's commercials are becoming my favorite 😂
idk man my 53 y.o. dad bought a 16' base ecoboost with 70k on it for 6k at an auction, no rips or tears anywhere other than the center console. the leather seats are pretty cozy, he's put a good 25k miles on it now and its been entirely trouble free.
@@Northeast_progenyYeah, the fusion is alright, but why not an Accord?

These in hybrid or lowest trim with the 2.5 NA mazda engine are really good buys for their price. Extremely reliable and not the worst inside but a fully loaded ecoboost model like this is a hard pass

The Fusion was made for fleet use. Ask any insurance adjuster and they’ll probably tell you they had a Fusion as a company car. I don’t miss the glass plant that much anymore (since I was forced into retirement). I think on the way home, I’ll switch it up further, and get Quiznos instead of Subway for dinner, and pop in disc 4 of Kung Fu: The Legend Continues and pour myself a glass of ice cold RC Cola. Wait till the guys at the YMCA see me pull up for swim meet on Tuesday! I think I have an extra “NO HOPE IN COMMUNISM” bumper sticker next to my cigar box! What a day! ~Just what popped into mind.
This is pure RCR and I love it dearly
My 14 Fusion has survived 2 of my children as teenage drivers. Gutless slug with good crash test ratings. Perfect for the safety of a highschool parking lot full of experienced drivers.
Great vid! Love Romans fake commercials lately! Fords mission for their middle sedan hasn't seemed to change much since the 80s. Its equivalent then was the Tempo. You could get it in awd then too, looked good, and was rental car fun to drive.
Thank you! I get genuinely stoked to read that people enjoy these things.
@@LimitedTimeRomanI had thoughts on doing fake commercials myself, but I can't now.
I'm surprised they haven't done the Tempo yet
@@alexovercast3359 prob hard to find one!
I also own a 2020 RS3.
the audacity ranks as one of the funniest things ive seen all year.
One of the better ones in recent memory good job the roman
Omg.
Between the Eternal Sunshine reference and the fictitious ads this was absolutely a top 10 episode of all time! I laughed so hard I had to sprint to the restroom 🤣🤣🤷🏼♀️
There was a Ford Fusion Titanium illegally parked for months in the handicap spot of an apartment complex I used to live at. It had 2 flat tires and then one day it got towed away and I never saw it again
the Lipton tea reference said it all, incredible
This video is a MASTERPIECE. “LEMME TELL YA SOMETHING!” Bit was hilarious.
Gold! Almost 30mins of reviewing c'mere guys with visual distraction of a fusion. You know your audience well.
Excellent. The ad was hilarious Roman. More like the reviews of old that made you both so popular so quickly.
17:07 the white fusion in the back casually showing up to be roasted.
Bought a 2020 SE brand new. Dog slow, but it gets the job done. Had to replace a purge valve at 33k, otherwise has been solid
my first car was a 2013 ford fiesta hatchback (basically the same as the fusion as far as i can tell). my transmission was replaced multiple times until it exploded in 2020, then a chip was on back order for 6 months until it was bought back under lemon laws. i have a subaru now:)
the funny thing is my grandpa has the wagon version of this car as his last car🥴
A wagon is always nice :D
Even better if it's a brown wagon
There is a wagon version?
yessss the taurus wagon 🙏
They never sold a wagon version of this in North America.
