Thank you. Anyone that tackles a small engine that won't run is going to find at least one of the things that you covered. Good job man.
You helped me clean the needle and seat on my snowblower! I had never cleaned/rebuilt a carburetor before. After watching your video, I had the confidence to take it apart and fix it! Thank you!
I don't want no fuel in my gas now! I know what you meant, lol. Good informative video. Thanks!
Thank you so much, brother! This is exactly what I needed. No nonsense, spoken clearly by a knowledgeable man.
Best carb troubleshooting overview I’ve ever seen (and I’ve seen a lot of ‘em)!
Great lesson on operation of the carb. Thanks
Your videos are very good, thanks so much for explaining how everything works. I used to send my stuff out but now that I am semi retired I have the time to rip things apart and fix them myself. Thank you.
Thank you for talking slow enough that my head doesn't spin trying to listen. I'm from SC.
Thanks. Well done - thanks for the explanation. Fuel in fuel - we knew what he meant. Thanks
Well done video! Another tip I got (on donyboy 73) is to remove the barbed fuel inlet fitting when cleaning small carbs. Sometimes there is a fine mesh screen in there. Quite a few years working on things like this and I didn't know that.
Very simple short and to the point thank you!
Fuel in the gas is a catastrophic problem.
Haha.
Thanks for your explanation it will help me a lot cheers from New Zealand
Fuel in your gas?
He meant in your oil, simple mistake, but it's an all around good informative video....Thanks
No bullshit, to the point, love it. Cheers Mike!
Good overview. thanks.
Nice.. Simple and to the point.. Thankyou
Great Video Mike, my carb fuel bowl fills but will not feed.. with starter fluid she will crank..
same issue, did you fix? if so, how?
Thank you for your knowledge, and sharing it...
There is often a small filter screen behind that inlet elbow in body of carb.
Remove elbow it's pressed in.
Greati video. What does the white connection do? I assume there is a tube attached to it? I have a similar carb for Toro lawnmower and when I fill up fuel in tank after it has sat for a few years fuel actually comes out from that tube (ie. not even running, just sitting). I cleaned out the bowl of the carb but didn't change anything. Just want to see if I can get the mower running before changing out parts if possible (mower from 1987) but not sure what would cause fuel to come out from that tube.
Thanks, at 2:02 you answered my question, i have a 80cc 4 stroke motorized bike and ive been noticing fuel dripping out sometimes under the bike, other times i would try and start it and fog would come out of the exhuast pipe, recently i did a oil change and it was much higher level than i filled it up and it looked like gas mixed with oil in my crankcase, so i just changed the oil and didnt think much. I then took it out on a few hr spin the next day and when i got home i noticed engine on my crankcase had oil on it, i looked and found a blown crankcase gasket, so what im thinkin is that fuel must have been dripping down into the crankcase and than filled up the space in there entirely and than when i went to ride it, the pressure from the piston movin up and down probably what caused the gasket blow out. I took off the bottom float container which actually i think the carberetor in your video looks almost identical to mine, anyways i noticed the entire bowl was filled with gasoline, not sure if its supposed to be this way or dry but please let me know" also what can i do to fix it? Can i just drain the bowl and screw it back on to fix it? Thanks.
The bowl will normally be mostly full of fuel. I would try replacing the needle and seat in the carburetor. Some carbs have a red rubber seat that’s replaceable. Some have a brass pressed in seat that’s not intended to be replaced.
Amazing knowledge shared by u buddy
Where can I order parts. After spraying Carburater cleaner through the the throat and into the gas intake, I discovered that the ring sealing the float tank expanded when I removed the float cover. The rubber ring no longer fits into the cover. I hope that heating with a heat gun will shrink the ring.
Could you say what would make a carburetor run the engine well but not idle?
Damn super helpful.
Thanks brother. Take care.
I’m not getting any fuel through carb bowl has fowl but only runs on carb cleaner
keep the ducks out of the fuel
Do they sell the rotating 90 deg barb fuel fitting like shown here mine cracked. With out buying carb
Thanks.
So specifically on all 6 that I've replaced the floater bowl stops doing its thing and it leaks gas out the air intake. What am I doing wrong?
I start the engine on choke when I put it on run the engine quits. What’s the problem?
Love your accent
My duel fuel generator carburetor won't work, I'm attempting to clean it. What does the selinoid on the bottom of the carburetor do? Is it testable? I can make it run when I pour gas directly not carb.
Thanks mike. Good vid.
The port above the float going to the throttle body is clogged how do I clean it
Nice info, Sir! What is the purpose of the sediment bowl?
A bowl for sediment.
nice
Thanks man. I wonder if you can help me with a question. I have a small pit bike that it is pouring gas on the overflow line no matter if I is on ON or RES the only way to stop it or closing the petcock. Any idea?
Float needle is leaking or stuck open. Carburetor probably needs a good cleaning
Is there supposed to b oil in the fuel valve
I needed to see how the gasket connected to the fuel bowl. It is not obvious
That black gasket falls off when I take the bowl off I might need to get another one tighter that’s the only thing that can be wrong it has a new carburetor new spark plug new filter gas and oil is good still won’t start
Ive been battling with a carburator on huasheng 142f on motorized bicycle for a long time and still it doesnt work. When throttle valve is almost closed, pilot screw 1 1/8 out it works more or less normal through idle circuit. What happens when i open throttle: after a small movement engine almost stalls, not enough mixture/gas, which means mixture does not get through transition circuit; then high rpm, it reaches max rpm at about 1/4 range, if i open gas more there'll be a catastrophic breakdown. Engine seems to work rich by smoke and color of spark plug. What could be the reason that that max rpm is at 1/4 range of gas valve? All circuits are clean. It seems im the first person with such problem in the whole history of motorized bikes. I tried experimenting with diameter of main jet (i have a spare one) but it did not help; it seems that something is fundamentally wrong in the work of main circuit. Also the smell of exhaust is strange like burned plastic.

You’ll start getting fuel in your gas?!
Lol I know what you meant
Is that plastic bowl supposed to be level when closed and if not how do you adjust it
Unfortunately these floats are not adjustable. When you turn the carb upside down, the float should be level. If not, the float may need to be replaced. Damaged needle and seat can also make it not set level, so inspect them too.
Use cotton swab to clean needle seat
Can you use valve lapping compound on que tip instead of pulling seat on new float and needle replacement?
is it the needle and seat if while hot the fuel bowl is empty and engine wont run
Could be needle and seat stuck, clogged fuel filter or line, or fuel tank vent stopped up
God morning. I got fuel coming out from the overflow hose on bottom of my pz22.
Motor cranks and run without throttle. If I flip on throttle, the motor dies immediately.
Any suggestions?
I would get a rebuild kit for the carb. Clean it good, clean the jets good. And check the float to make sure fuel hasn’t leaked into it
How do you adjust this type of float?
There’s no adjustment on the float on these style carburetors
That jet, bolt washer, is it just a regular hardware store washer or something I should get online?
If I’m understanding you correctly, that’s a gasket that goes on the jet bolt. It’ll come in a carb rebuild kit.
I don't see any difference between a hardware store washer on mine, just a reg old washer. Tecumseh 4 HP flathead here.
I’m not getting any gas into my carburetor. It’s flowing but not getting in the carburetor. I have a Briggs and Stratton motor with a Nikki carburetor. Can anyone help?
Check the vent in the gas cap. Take the cap off the tank and see if it starts flowing. Check for clogged fuel lines and filters too. It could be flowing, but not enough pressure. If all that is good, it’s a problem with the needle and seat. Make sure that’s not clogged.
Mike’s Garage Thanks!
Hi,do you know why my engine predator 212 runs only when i unscrew little bit fuel bowl screw, kinda make it loose.otherwise if its tight it doesnt run ?
Put a thicker gasket on screw, it's protruding in main jet to far and closing off passage
1:46-1:50 mixing fuel with the gas? What?
I’m subscribe to you
Fuel in the gas?
I heard that too
Biggest problem everyone has is fuel in their gas, I hate when that happens....
Very nice. Thank you Mike. 👌
So what do you mean you’ll get fuel in the gas he said that when you were talking about the pin, he said he will get fuel in the gas
