I was going to suggest this but wasn't sure if you would like it. The whole LP this is from rocks. You might also like the Yellow Snow "suite". It's four connected tracks from his (')Apostrophe LP that tells a story. "Don't Eat The Yellow Snow", "Nanook Rubs It", "St. Alfonzo's Pancake Breakfast" and "Father O'Blivion". It comes in at just over ten mins for the whole thing.
I salute you for doing anything Zappa. I'm a big fan, but realize Zappa doesn't appeal to everyone. Hope you continue to dive into the Zappa discology and love it as much as us Zappa fans. ❤
Definately one of the greatest most creative and unique guitarists to ever walk the planet! Right up there with Hendrix IMO Frank was the logical extension of Hendrix.
Torture never Stops (Studio Version) is a deeply scary song.. terrifying actually. From the Zoot Allures album which has many great tunes on it. Play that one too loud and you will get cops at your door thinking there was a murder.
I enjoyed your reaction to this classic Frank Zappa tune. Keep in mind that this band could pull this off live and sound exactly the same. In fact, as you delve into more Zappa, you might react to some of the live versions one in particular is of the song “Cosmic Debris”. It was posted I believe about 13 years ago. This version of the song is blessed with extended solos from three members of the incredible band! Enjoy your journey!
FZ was a guitar and lyrical genius. This is a deep rabbit hole. This is my second favorite Zappa album, an album you can enjoy from first track to last track
Thanks for the reaction and good to see you enjoyed the track. I'd recommend 'Inca Roads' next, another complex instrumental masterpiece with an element of fun, or 'Florentine Pogen', a song about a cookie (!) which gets less attention on UA-cam, but is equally complex, with a massive, pompous riff undercut by some outre humour.
One Reactionist had said Frank seams to be able to take all the Chaos of the song and Tie it all into a Pretty Red Bow with his Guitar. A Very Good Analysis. Check out 1968 "Frank Zappa: "My Guitar Wants to Kill Your Mama". Live. An Absolute understanding of music and rules as aband. The Great Frank Zappa.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The man on your Shirt went to Frank's house in the valley. Said the same thing about him as a lot of other 27-year-oldish rockstars that died around the same time. Frank really did think he could play greatly, but shouldn't have done drugs. Frank, contrary to many uninitiated, did not do drugs.
For much of the early Zappa stuff there are almost only audios left. It was the only available for us back in those days. I havent seen this live with Frank - But, his son Dweezil makes an excellent cover of this song ft Napoleon Murphy Brock and Steve Vai who both were parts of different versions of Mothers of Invention.
True! Frank was a conductor and band leader. He auditioned and hired professional musicians, wrote their parts (all those he hired read music, IIRC), then REHEARSED THEM until they were ready, then toured!
I was fortunate to see Zappa and the Mothers live with The Turtles. Lewis and Clark College in Portland, OR. Don’t remember what year it was. Frank directed the band like von Karajan and Bernstein and Maazel on acid.
Great reaction. Zappa fans are always happy to see someone get there minds blown by a Zappa song. But... we all must WARN you... sometimes... Zappa's lyrics can get kind of personal..lol. Remember... he has a wicked sense of humor, and sometimes his songs have TEETH. And they DO bite. Trust me, sooner or later you're going to come across a song that you will NOT find amusing... it's just a matter of time. Just try to take whatever he says with a grain of salt. With Zappa, no one is safe. Music is the best.
@@hanierfamily welcome to the Zappa rabbit hole! If you want to hear his best Halloween song, please give 'The Torture Never Stops,' a listen...talk about painting a very creepy picture with incredible music to set the mood.
Just in case anybody wonders what this song is about, it's about male sexuality. Going to sleep and waking up in the morning as horny as fuck, THAT'S the Zomby Woof!!!

Zomby Woof: great springboard into the Zappaverse! However, beware: sixty albums quite easily equates to forty percent bullsh*t. I love Frank, but, unlike the mindless, I won't blindly lap up everything he's ever oozed out. Choose wisely.
I’m pleased it’s not just me. Some of it is bad and I have to wonder if in some of them Zappa was taking the **** out of those who would tell the emperor his new clothes looked lovely. The good stuff though is beyond incredible. Inca Roads, Montana, Zomby Woof, Yellow Snow Suite… biggest regret at the end of my time might just be that I wasn’t born early enough to ever see Zappa play.
One of the finest albums ever recorded. Perfection from start to finish.
Fantastic reaction!!! It was his best era IMHO. Personnel : Frank Zappa - guitar, vocals - Ricky Lancelotti-crazy vocals - George Duke - keyboards, synthesizer - Bruce Fowler - trombone - Tom Fowler - bass - Ralph Humphrey - drums - Sal Marquez - (trumpet, vocals - Jean-Luc Ponty - violin, baritone violin - Tina Turner, Lynn & Debbie, uncredited (Ike Turner insisted) - backing vocals - Ian Underwood - flute, clarinet, alto & tenor sax - Ruth Underwood - percussion. "Here I'm is: The Zomby Woof"
And recorded in Bolin Sound, Ike’s studio. 😉

Wonderful groove and great guitar. I've been a Zappa fan since the 70's. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for this Zomby Woof ! If you like incredible guitar solos, welcome in the world of FZ !
If you like monster movies you'll love Cheepnis by Zappa.
For guitar goodness Muffnin Man live 1977 from the Halloween Show, a tenuous link I know...
Nice to see some more Zappa.

Glad you enjoyed it.
Thanks for the Zappa music! He was a composer unstoppable with an incredible library .Many musicians took note of his complicated mastery of the ax.

Mr Frank is definitely a good Helloween pick he's way out there somewhere where magic and spooky things happen
George Duke is another rabbit hole to go down. His work with Billy Cobham is amazing stuff.

The Great Frank Zappa.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The first voice and the guitar solo was FZ, in case you might not know,
The man on your Shirt went to Frank's house in the valley. Said the same thing about him as a lot of other 27-year-oldish rockstars that died around the same time. Frank really did think he could play greatly, but shouldn't have done drugs. Frank, contrary to many uninitiated, did not do drugs.

Great choice
All the music was written note by note for each instrument, except for the solos they were improvised.
Not all the notes…George Duke’s clavinet parts here would have been improvised for example.
True! Frank was a conductor and band leader. He auditioned and hired professional musicians, wrote their parts (all those he hired read music, IIRC), then REHEARSED THEM until they were ready, then toured!

The female background singers are Tina Turner and the ikettes
There's a group we haven't reacted to. Most of our Tina Turner experience was during the 80's and up.
one of his best albums, imo
Hots rats is killer also.
just remembering, so many times i was told i had weird music taste😂😂😂😂
