i felt so bad for her i got so happy when the crowds still cheers for her even if she didnt made the flip perfectly.

This was sad. You train for years, rigorously for this moment and then you cannot even fully perform because of an injury and have to withdraw. I feel bad for her.
Yeah it would be unpleasant aye. You'd feel pretty bad. Some gymnasts are dissapointed with a silver medal

it wasn't for nothing she can do something that not many people can and it's call herself an olympian, even tho the olympics is the highest you can get there's many more big international competitions for a gymnasts career like worlds...
I can obv only speak for me (i'm an elite gymnast, I was too young to compete at the Rio Olympics so I have to wait for 2020) but from all the gymnasts i've met including me, they were all perfectionists so of course everyone wants the gold but i don't think she was disappointed in getting silver cause that's something only a few get from all of the almost 200 gymnast that compete so it's still a big accomplishment. For Viktoria I think the problem was that she was expected to deliver and win but it was not the case (by win i mean gold but at least for me silver and bronze are still a win) so she may have felt like she let down her country and herself, specially being russian...

Sandwich No they don't. Simone biles is 104, Gabby Douglas is 108, Ally Raisman is 115, and Aliya Mustafina is 106. Those numbers are definitely not a lot. They have lean muscle but they usually weigh less than 120 at the most.

L T Yes, that's right. My whole point is that they weigh very little. Because their weight is proportional to their height does not mean they don't? I don't understand why their height is relevant. All I'm saying is that they are light, not that they are underweight.
watching gymnasts get hurt always makes me feel so sad and even get a little choked up. I’m no athlete, but as a musician I know what it’s like to train and then have your dreams crushed by a bad performance. My heart goes out to all injured athletes.

this is what olympics and sports , of course all about . you cant predict what would happen . i feel bad for her . i also an athlete but for my school only hahahaha , had experienced this accident when you trained hard and didnt get a good result and place was just painful ... btw , i love and touched when all the audience supported her by cheering her country or name ... i donno ... but tht was beautiful

C’est vraiment triste pour elle mais dans le public on voit une vraie démonstration de l’esprit olympique: elle a « râté » sa prestation, mais le public l’encourage et l’applaudit, c’est un très bel esprit et une très belle ambiance je trouve

It takes guts to know when your hurt and NOT push through when the adrenaline is pumping and you know you’ve got what it takes.
I WISH when stuff like this happened the athlete would be given a second chance to start it over with no faults applied.
So much of sport is “keep going even if your hurt” and people get worse injuries as a result.
Itd be better if something like this happens, the person knows they can have a second chance so they stop, get checked then cleared to continue, and have a second go at it.

you get credit for what you perform! so she got credit for all her tricks prior to this and the double layout because she landed feet first. she just got deductions for falling forward after.
