I work as a cashier and I greeted this one customer and she didn’t answer so I signed to her and her face lit up and she was so excited that I was able to communicate with her. It’s moments like that that make me love to learn asl. I also appreciate how slow you guys sign. Very easy to understand. I have troubles interpreting signs not signing so your vids help out so much!
One of my favorite sounds was hearing my deaf grandfather laugh. It was so unfiltered and real it always made me want to laugh too and just felt good. Also one of the funniest damn things was watching him argue with my grandmother and get in the last word by turning around and not looking at her and she would get SO PISSED but eventually you would hear them laughing .. good times... These videos make me miss them a lot.
Not sure why the thought of this comment made me crack up but not in a bad way. that would be hilarious and genuine. Some people filter their laugh because they are embarrassed or hate their laugh but if you can't hear your own laugh, you cant get more real than that.
I feel that when Ellen does not use her voice, her face became more expressive vs when she's using her voice. Or maybe i'm paying more attention to the facial expression with the lack of audio? Hmmm
Yeah she talks about this in the video called like “how I normally talk to my bf irl” a few vids back! She says she’s focusing on her words and signs that she’s less expressive.
I read a few chapters of an ASL textbook a while back, and I believe they really emphasize using facial expressions to help with conversing. This may explain it :)
@@allthatsokay yeah. Most ppl who are hearing but learn ASL/other sign language for someone they love are like this. Most sign languages emphasize the use of non verbal communication and facial expressions and also when Ellen signs and speaks at the same time she is literally speaking two different languages w different word order and grammar, and unique ways to communicate in each language and doing both is hard unless you are a professional simultaneous interpreter. It's a hard task between any two languages that are very different - e.g Chinese and English, Hungarian and Portuguese or Navajo and French. (these are actual examples of languages spoken by ppl I've seen simultaneously interpret.) there's a reason sign language interpreters in most countries need a formal education. Ellen is amazing!
It slightly bothers me - it’s normally something that happens because non-hearing don’t realize they’re doing it and it feels like she’s doing it on purpose.
@@saywhatsam9655 as a hearing person who uses ASL (not super fluent), it's a natural part of the language. facial expressions and mouth shapes change the meanings of certain signs, and mouthing helps make your meaning more clear. the noise is basically just a byproduct of that. if you sign with deaf people daily, it's more than likely that you'll just start doing it naturally. It doesn't seem forced from my experience with hearing people fluent in ASL
@@SignDuoChannel that makes sense!! My friends accent gets stronger when they're tired or angry, makes sense you fall to your more natural way of speaking. But it's so interesting that knowing another language is not just about the words you speak, but can create a whole new way of communicatinf for yourself too
I find it so funny how much more expressive Ellen can be when not talking and it’s funny how much her signing mimicks Ryan’s right down to the soft lip movements and noises they both make. It’s absolutely histerical! I love you guys so much
i don’t mind voice or no voice! but when you do use your voice, it’s easier for me to learn new signs because i’m not focused on the subtitles as much. but obviously do what you want!! i love you guys so much!!
Agree. I find that when you don’t use voice I’m not paying attention to the signs or your facial expressions. I’m paying attention to subtitles. Either way is good though!!!
I get this, but my sense is that she signs more accurately (e.g. ASL grammar) when she is voice off. The voice on helps to learn vocab, but it’s really important for us to learn grammar too.
@@mashae2382 totally agree! i understand. i was just saying it’s easier to follow along. i have adhd and so it’s hard to understand what she’s signing sometimes because i can’t focus solely on it. if that makes sense?
I personally prefer when Ellen voices the conversation. For me, its due to a combination of learning styles that prioritize how I am able to take in information. Text almost always wins my focus, esp when there is no voice, so I never see the signs because I'm drawn to the CC --which does nothing to help me understand asl. When Ellen uses her voice I can connect the words with the signs that I'm seeing because there's something about vocalizing that pulls me out of that "Text will tell me everything I need" sort of mentality and I can actually see them again. Now, this is just me as a hearing person saying what works for me in terms of wanting to learn the language. That does not mean that anyone needs to accomodate my preferances--You guys aren't instructors, you don't need to change for anyone. I'm here to see what you've got, not demand that you give me what I want. Do what works best for you :)
Yes I agree with you, I grew up using sign language with my grandpa and since he passed I never really use it so I actually get confused trying to keep up so I go to reading the text and then I don't see the signs so I don't feel like im refreshing my sign knowledge... which is kind of what got me into these videos.
Seriously, when she started talking for the outro, it caught me completely off guard. I was reading the facial expressions, body language ect. for the tone and stuff and then she started talking and I was like what?!? But I kind of liked the no talking style. I am learning ASL and that style forces me to focus on the mannerisms of you guys. Sorry for this long comment. Love your videos!
It's also cool after having a few years off from studying ASL and being able to read the signs naturally and only using the captions when needed. It does make it easier to follow Ellen's signing. I can also see the struggle of a hearing audience who isn't used to reading captions possibly being less likely to stay engaged though.
Yes, completely agree! I like no voice Ellen in the videos. I like to see her speaking more naturally and comfortably, and I'm also learning ASL, so I learn so much more when both Ryan and Ellen are signing. I love your videos very much. Beautiful shots in this one. Thank you! So grateful to you for sharing your life and story with us.
I like when Ellen voices when she signs. As an English speaker whose trying to learn ASL, I feel like it helps me a lot in my learning. Great content. Thank you guys a bunch! :)
Honestly “no voice Ellen” seems to help make the videos flow way more seamlessly for me, and seems more organic for both of you! I also feel like I’m picking up a lot more sign. I vote for more!
As someone who doesn't speak ASL (not American), I appreciate hearing Ellen as well as her signing. When it's only signing, I have to read constantly, and then I can't actually watch the signs, or faces. When there is voice and signing, I can listen and focus on the signs, and that way I learn more.
A lot of deaf people don't like to talk. They're not a curiosity at a carnival they don't have to talk for you if they don't want to. What if I asked you to dance for me that's just weird.
I think it’s because (D)deaf accent is so different and people are interested in different things they don’t hear every day but it makes me feel weird when people are like CAN YOU TALK PLEASE?! and don’t respect when people say they don’t want to. You’re right. It’s really like if people asked others to dance when they didn’t want to or feel comfortable doing so.
@@ellaelliott4415 I understand that people are curious I never have been about that. But my aunt is deaf. She reads lips really well though. I guess I just understood it is rude to ask. And makes people uncomfortable sometimes. It's something you think not ask.
Dancing is not an essential part of communication. Talking is. My husband is deaf and never learned to talk. I don’t force him but, we practice sometimes for fun. I’m just saying that your comparison is not really a good one.
@@Batya-Grace dancing is one of the oldest forms of communication and getting to know someone. People choose their spouse after a dance. If you don't understand the metaphor I used and it went right over your head thats okay. I was trying to explain to people on the internet that they don't know UA-camrs well enough to ask them to speak. If it's a friend or a family member sure. But he isn't your friend or family member he is a person bringing awareness and sharing their life. He shouldn't be bombarded with what I feel are rude comments to speak for our morbid curiosity. Who do you think you are? To demand that. Again it went over your head I wasn't talking about you or your husband. Didn't know you existed until this moment. My comment doesn't protain to you basically.
Just wanted to say I work in beauty and had a deaf customer today. I knew how to communicate with her and get her a foundation shade match and the makeup that she wanted because of you guys!
I prefer when she talks because while I’m trying to learn I’m not proficient enough to follow signs and subtitles. (That’s why I subscribed to this channel in the first place.)
Bruh it's their channel they can make videos however they like or prefer. Just accept it because it's making them happy. Or else you can just click unsubscribe if you don't like the videos.
I am so glad you touched on misunderstanding each other in the beginning. I am going through some of that now with my BF who is deaf. I have so much to learn.. LOL
I love it when Ellen doesn’t use her voice; I’m trying to learn ASL and it makes me watch more intently and I find that I’m learning some new signs as I read the closed captions. You guys are awesome!
I love no voice Ellen! I notice I pay more attention to the signs when you don't speak, and there are signs I'm beginning to recognize. Plus I love to see your facial expressions! And the fluidity of your sign! Plus it's very calming to watch. Love you guys!
When you use your voice it’s like watching a movie that is spoken in your language. When you only sign but don’t use my language of choice I only read and miss both of your facial expressions. I think it’s about the effort it takes to communicate with each other in their language of choice or need. My blind friends have to turn on their audible reader to hear because they can’t see you signing. I appreciate when you use your voice because I can taken in more of the experience with multiple forms of communication. My friends who are unsighted ask me questions and I have to say I’ll have to go back because I missed it. The gift of communication is that we can reach people in many ways and it bridges our gaps of understanding so we can have our lives enriched by the experience of others lives. Thank you both for sharing your experience in audio / visual, it is wonderful!
I honestly prefer when you talk because its easier to understand you better and to learn signs so I'm not just focused on the subtitles but that's just my opinion. You guys do what you guys wanna do, you're both amazing and hope you guy's have a great day =)
I like when Ellen speaks. As a hearing person, who doesn't know much asl, I miss all the facial expressions and chances to pick up new signs if I have to focus on reading the captions the whole time. But I understand if you stop voicing and signing.
Same here! I do like seeing no voice Ellen, but it was tough to see what she’s signing and look at her facial expressions since I was reading the captions the whole time.
There's a youtube channel called Learn How to Sign that I suggest watching before Sign duo vlogs :) They have a series of 150 common signs used in conversation and it's helped me to rely less on the captions and more on the signs
I’m very curious to find out about how Ellen adjusted to not being able to hear emotion or tone etc. Also loved no voice Ellen. So glad you’re both posting and that you both seem well :)
Yeah, facial expressions and other inflections represent the tone of voice in spoken languages. It was probably weird at first, but you adapt over time. (at least that's what I assume would happen)
@@SignDuoChannel this has me curious as to how me as someone with ASD would communicate as I can't read facial expressions, body language tone etc... I tried learning to sign Auslan before my diagnosis but it was an epic failure because the teacher would be signing really loudly and I'd be fixed facial expression not understanding like 😐
@@DustyGloo As someone who also has ASD that is currently trying to learn ASL, I gotta say that the facial expressions are by far the hardest part for me. And while they tend to make a *bit* more sense when I see other people doing them as I've spent a LOT of time trying to learn more about mannerisms, I realize that I don't do any facial expressions at all when signing and it makes me feel like I'm only speaking half the language, haha.
I think you should continue “no voice Ellen” because it helps me understand and learn better too! Re-watching without captions is helpful for picking up more signs or facial expressions especially when both of you sign. Love your channel!
in a day in age where toxic relationships are glamorized, I really appreciate seeing you two stick it out. Not to say your relationship is perfect because as a viewer/viewers I/we only know what you show me/us.
Both voice and no-voice are good, but I love hearing your voice, Ellen, because it’s so beautiful! I love the way you two interact. Thank-you for sharing parts of your lives with us!
To me, it doesn’t matter whether you talk or not Ellen because I find I read the subtitles either way :) Just, please don’t stop subtitling Java. In fact, I’d love to know more of what she’s thinking 🤔😄 Seriously though, you two (three) are a joy to watch and I’m truly grateful for your videos.
I have learned a lot about the deaf community since I have been watching your videos. I now appreciate that probably, voicing words is linked to their sound. I didn't know or appreciate that link before I watched these videos. So much we take for granted in life hey. Its easier to repeat a sound when you can hear it, than make it up from seeing someone's lips say it. Respect Ryan. I appreciate the mental effort it takes you to remember things you watched but never heard. All the best to you. Also, after seeing some of your old videos, I have heard you say a few words here and there like "Nooo" etc.
I read the subtitles even if there is voice or no voice. I think I like no voice because even though I don’t know signing, when you don’t voice it looks more fluid and like you and Ryan are having better conversation personally! Love your guys channel!
I love you guys too! Also with "No voice Ellen" I like it. It gives me a better perspective of this whole thing and even though "voice Ellen" helps me understand what you are saying incase I can't read this cc in time I like it. (Not sure which one I prefer tho.) See you in the next video!
I’m HoH and my husband didn’t really even notice my deaf accent when he met me. He just accepted me for me. Now I’m trying to get him to learn ASL and having a tough time with that! Arg! Lol I hope one day he will be able to sign full sentences and have a conversation with me. Always good to see you guys. Thanks for sharing!
I noticed when Ellen doesn't talk while signing, she uses more facial expressions. I also noticed it may be a bit easier for Ellen not to talk while signing. I think both ways are nice to watch. I would suggest pick what feels the best and comfortable version for you!
I love the “no voice” Ellen (great for people learning asl). Your interactions together are so natural. I also understand for people who don’t know asl where having your voice is nice too. Accessible to everyone :) thank you for your videos. Im thankful for the captions, and truly enjoy Java’s captions too
I like when Ellen speaks because I know a little bit of ASL, and I enjoy watching her hands while hearing her voice to confirm I understood the signing. However, if not speaking is easier for Ellen, then she should do what feels more natural to her. I am just glad to watch these videos. Thank you for sharing your lives with us.
No voice Ellen is easier for me to process. I am newly diagnosed with hearing loss, so I do my best to pick up as many signs as I can from the videos. Being a new ASL student, not having to use my failing ears at all to process the information in the videos is so much better. I was able to follow along with the signing and read the closed captions faster and with increased accuracy of matching the sign to the word.
It makes sense to choose to not use her voice... Both of my parents are deaf, and not me. So I know Sign Language and spoken French (I'm from Quebec, Canada). So to completely follow the conversation, it's easier to use the same method of communicating, instead of having to switch what to pay attention for. I really like this experiment! 🤘
It is easier, for me, to follow the conversation and for the sake of learning ASL when Ellen doesn’t voice but sometimes I do like the videos with voice so that I can “watch” when I’m multitasking and can’t look at the screen. Thanks again for making these videos, they’re very helpful to learn and I just like them because your relationship is refreshingly sweet! Thank Ryan & Ellen for sharing of yourselves with an audience 🤗💕
Is it just me that loves no voice Ellen? I believe her facial expressions and body mannerisms in general allows us to understand her and Ryan’s day-to-day lives together. P.S. love your videos
I enjoy when Ellen talks while signs. This is how I learned a lot of new signs. I’m not fluent in sign language so I have to depend on the captions to understand on a video like this. I used to like learning when Ellen signed and talked at the same time and then I would test myself when Ryan would sign because I had to depend on the signs and try to understand. But right now for context, I’m solely depending on captions now. But I love you guys and do what makes you both comfortable!
In terms of learning sign language it is definitely more helpful for Ellen to talk like you said. You can focus on the signs more without having to read the captions. But it's clear how it affects her facial expressions, her signing seems more fluent when she's not focused on talking as well. Either way though their channel is really helping with learning and understanding sign. Hopefully it's helping you as well.
I don't usually support "couple's channels," but this is my 2nd vlog of yours and I'm HOOKED 😍 I'm studying ASL for fun (and bc I'm a huge language nerd) so it's really helpful to see people have regular conversations. Signing is SUCH a beautiful language! Also, your content is adorable and informative. As for Ellen vocalizing or not, the percussive sounds her mouth makes will take some getting used to, but I don't mind. Do whatever feels right 🥰
I’m so happy you guys are back! I love watching videos with Ellen just signing because I feel like it gives us a more realistic view of what your communication is like day to day! Btw I really liked the drone and Java footage, such a great touch☺️
Tbh i like Ellen using her voice. I don't know sign language so I'm focused on reading the captions but then I miss you guys interactions, expressions, Java in the back, etc..
I really prefer the no voice!! I feel like you can express your thoughts so much easier, and if there's a sign I don't know I don't mind turning the captions on, rewinding 5 seconds, learning the sign, then turning the captions off again. In all honesty, if your goal watching these videos is learning ASL, I think it's better having no voice because that's the full immersion experience you need when learning a language. Full immersion works!
I like the videos with no voice better. I feel like Ellen is able to express herself more freely when she is signing versus voicing and signing. Love y'all's videos!! Such a huge inspiration!!
I like the not voicing! But ive also really enjoyed watching you simcom ellen- bc its what i have to use most often (at work with mixed group of deaf/new signers/hearing nonsigners and limited interpreters) simcom is most needed from me and its REALLY hard to sim com. So i do enjoy watching your strategies for doing it. Bc no one teaches you how directly. But its never not hard to simcom- so i like seeing both!
Missed you guys! I personally like no voice Ellen because you seem to be able to sign easier and use more expression which helps me focus on the signing rather than just relying on my hearing. Glad to see all 3 of you back! ❤️
The no voice ellen make me , as a speaking person with little sign language experience but tons of curiosity , focus on the signs and facial expressions more than if i could depend on your voice. It brings viewers further into the world you guys share more organically, i subscribed because of this video. Thank you both.
I like the videos w/out voice. Especially since I'm learning to sign, I watch the videos once or twice without captions and then watch with captions. I've started to do that with all your videos. You two (3 including Java!) are so genuine, I just love this channel. 🤟🏾
In reference to “no voice Ellen”…when I watch your videos I tend to try to figure out the signs while she talks. I know very few signs, so it’s kind of like trying to learn without going to class. With this video, I’m focused more on reading the subtitles than looking at the sign language.
Find yourself a significant other who would look at you the same way these two look at each other ❤️✨ Also, no pressure. Upload at your own pace! Glad to know you're all doing well in this pandemic
Honestly, I think no voice Ellen kept me more engaged with what was being talked about. I've been learning ASL and I was more able to pick up on the signs rather than focusing on hearing what was being said and focusing more on expression rather than relying on my hearing to help. Loved this!
I did asl for 4 years in high school and I enjoyed everyday of it ,watching you guys now really refresh my mind on a lot of signs ! You guys are doing amazing🤎
I feel like I learn more ASL when Ellen talks because I can watch her signs. When she doesn’t talk, I have to read the captions and can’t watch the signs at the same time.
your videos have helped me so much. i’ve got a deaf couple who come into my work every weekend and since i watch you guys i am able to communicate with them and make sure they feel welcomed. i am the only staff member in the store that can communicate with them, more people need to start learning sign language for those few non- hearing people. thank you for helping me learn guys! ❤️
I totally understand you Ryan, it’s totally ok .. I also understand why people have curiosity for the sound of your voice 😬 but anyways, so glad to see another video of you guys thanks🤍
I am so thankful for you both I served a customer in my work today who was deaf and after watching so many of your videos I was able to sign to them. They were so surprised and happy and thankful that I tried my hardest to make them feel comfortable. So thank you so much! Definitely the best couple on UA-cam! 🥰
Just discovered your channel, and I love the warmth in your videos, and Java is the cutest creature ever! I am scared of dogs, but she seems very sweet, playful and loving. Also, I cannot imagine speaking and signing at the same time, I could never.
it’s fun practice for me when you don’t speak cause i have to rely on catching what you’re signing. it definitely helps me learn more signs too which i love. thank you for the videos!!
I like Ellen voicing because I'm so new to sign language and ASL, i miss the facial expressions when I'm reading all the subtitles. Im nervous about not being able to pick up on the facial expressions while I'm learning. I want to get everything right, and I know it takes time. Either way, I love you both and appreciate the videos. Thank you for everything!!❤
Ryan and Ellen ,I will remember both of you in my daily prayers . May God bless you both abundantly As King David said, May you prosper wherever you go and in whatever you do I am a seaman . We work under lot of pressure & lack of rest . Your videos helped me to relax and reduced my depression. Lot of love
I think Ryan nailed it. UA-cam subscribers ask to hear him for tone. I wouldn’t ask, personally. But it is hard to watch facial expressions and read subtitles if you don’t know how to sign 😅
Because I love learning sign, I appreciate you talking while you sign. Please continue to speak. It's impossible to read the captions and watch you sign at the same time. Thank you both for sharing with us. You are wonderful.
Ryan's voice: do I "need" to hear it? No. Ryan is *very* expressive with his face and has a quick and ready smile. Wish I knew him in real life. Seems like a great guy. Am I a little curious about his voice? Sure. Would love to hear if he's a bass or a soprano. And I'm a little curious if even 1/10 the emotion comes out with the voice as I see in his face. He said he talked more with Ellen when he got excited about things, so I think there *would* be some expressivity in his voice as well as his face. Ellen's voice or both using sign instead of talking also: I'm OK with it, but I definitely have to work harder trying to pay very close attention to their faces, and body movements, and signs, and... it's a little bit overwhelming and I really have to work. I'm used to just listening to other people's inflections, and as a teacher, I use a LOT of tone and inflection when I teach. The interpreters at our school have shared with me that they use more body language and facial expression with the kids to also communicate more than what's being said.
I’m trying to learn ASL so hearing voice is easier for me to follow a little faster but I can read captions too. Whatever you like best is what you should do.
Hello, I'm Shaun from the UK. I'm dyslexic, (I'm hearing), reading the captions is helping me to read quicker, and I find I focus more, and I'm also more relaxed viewing the conversations. I'm a new subscriber, and enjoy your video's very much. My favourite was watching you move house, find a sofa, decorate the Christmas, food hauls. What I'm trying to say is, I really enjoy the day to day vlogging you guys do. Seeing all the work you put into your home was awesome, and inspiring. Hearing, deaf, doesn't matter! Please do more everyday vlogs mixed in with the informative deaf and hearing relationship experiences. And more exposing of they way society treats the deaf community. The drive thew videos were very eye opening, and you guys continue open the eye of the hearing world, and how we all need to work together to live together. Everyone is equal, period.
I prefer when Ellen doesn't voice. I feel that she is able to express herself more clearly and authentically. Bonus: helps me improve my signs. Ryan did great on Ellen's hair! When my Deaf friend voices to me, I feel really honored. I would never ask her to voice, but I appreciate the great effort that she takes to do it.
Opening scenes reminded me of one of the reasons why I loved moving to SoCal a year ago. This place is just magic. Yes, there are downsides, but you'll find those everywhere. Beautiful scenery- great weather- beaches and mountains. Lucky to be here.
For me it is easyer if you talk so I can hear you and watch what youre hands are doing at the same time. Feels more like learning for me, otherwise Im busy reading the captions and not at all focussing on youre hands
i really like it when ellen doesnt use her voice, cuz it makes me pay more attention to her facial expression and signs. im trying to learn asl, so its fun to try to pick up on what she's saying, when she's not voicing it aswell.

I feel like when Ellen doesn't voice she's able to passionately converse easier with Ryan. ♡
I definitely agree! :) but funny thing is if i'm signing with Ryan and the conversation turns heated I end up voicing very loudly 😅

Agreed
Exactly
You need an applause for that super long comment
Yes I agree with you, I grew up using sign language with my grandpa and since he passed I never really use it so I actually get confused trying to keep up so I go to reading the text and then I don't see the signs so I don't feel like im refreshing my sign knowledge... which is kind of what got me into these videos.
Yes!!!!
I am hearing and if I don’t catch something because I’m readying the subtitles, I just rewind is all. That’s all ya gotta do :)
Exactly my thoughts, but way better articulated!
"Speaking?? in this economy???"
lol 😄 but i'm glad you like this new style of videos that we are doing
It's also cool after having a few years off from studying ASL and being able to read the signs naturally and only using the captions when needed. It does make it easier to follow Ellen's signing.
I can also see the struggle of a hearing audience who isn't used to reading captions possibly being less likely to stay engaged though.
yeah, im learning asl as well, just finished asl 3, and this pushed me to actually follow along with the signs :)
I agree completely with Hayden. Its a lot easier to pick up on the signing when Ellen doesn't speak
Hey Hayden how are you doing
As someone who doesn't speak ASL (not American), I appreciate hearing Ellen as well as her signing. When it's only signing, I have to read constantly, and then I can't actually watch the signs, or faces. When there is voice and signing, I can listen and focus on the signs, and that way I learn more.
I completely agree! I'm dyslexic, too. So for me it's legitimately hard to read in real time conversation
@@Batya-Grace also if talking was essential to communicating what about mute people? That doesn't make sense ma'am...
Just wanted to say I work in beauty and had a deaf customer today. I knew how to communicate with her and get her a foundation shade match and the makeup that she wanted because of you guys!
Hey! I just graduated as an ASL major! You guys have been such a big part of my achievement! I Love you guys!
Congrats on the graduation!!!!! Learning ASL during a pandemic hasn't been ideal for me, I'm glad you worked through it and achieved that!
Congrats on graduating!!❤️
@@SignDuoChannel Thank you! I love learning ASL and Deaf culture it is such a passion of mine! 😊
I prefer when she talks because while I’m trying to learn I’m not proficient enough to follow signs and subtitles. (That’s why I subscribed to this channel in the first place.)
i never know when I am talking to a deaf person whether I should speak at the same time or not..?

I am so glad you touched on misunderstanding each other in the beginning. I am going through some of that now with my BF who is deaf. I have so much to learn.. LOL
I don’t mind no talk Ellen…but what matters is how you feel
😊
Exactly
I love it when Ellen doesn’t use her voice; I’m trying to learn ASL and it makes me watch more intently and I find that I’m learning some new signs as I read the closed captions. You guys are awesome!
I love no voice Ellen! I notice I pay more attention to the signs when you don't speak, and there are signs I'm beginning to recognize. Plus I love to see your facial expressions! And the fluidity of your sign! Plus it's very calming to watch. Love you guys!
great job on starting to recognize some signs! keep it up! thanks for watching
Thank you both for sharing your experience in audio / visual, it is wonderful!
finally you're back ,the intro so calm i like it ^^.
Hi 😁 glad the intro was calming 😴
Same! I’m able to focus on the signs better when she talks. I completely understand either way, though.
There's a youtube channel called Learn How to Sign that I suggest watching before Sign duo vlogs :) They have a series of 150 common signs used in conversation and it's helped me to rely less on the captions and more on the signs
@@Kitzohru awesome! Thanks for sharing that resource.
@@vegahw same here!
The dog was totally falling asleep in the back. I bet she loves how peaceful your house is. 💕😊 You guys are absolutely adorable!
I’m very curious to find out about how Ellen adjusted to not being able to hear emotion or tone etc. Also loved no voice Ellen. So glad you’re both posting and that you both seem well :)
I’m pretty sure facial expressions and the emphasis on the hand signs do a lot in expressing emotion
Maybe we can talk about it in a future vid :) thanks for the well wishes
Not to say your relationship is perfect because as a viewer/viewers I/we only know what you show me/us.
we will always stick it out ♥ nothing is more important than family, and freedom to choose who you love
Both voice and no-voice are good, but I love hearing your voice, Ellen, because it’s so beautiful! I love the way you two interact. Thank-you for sharing parts of your lives with us!
Java grabbing her leash and walking herself (or RUNNING herself) at the end was sooo cute
She still has that adorable puppy energy!
This channel is everything a channel could have in my opinion
Dogs, cuteness, kindness, and sign language!
To me, it doesn’t matter whether you talk or not Ellen because I find I read the subtitles either way :)
Just, please don’t stop subtitling Java.
In fact, I’d love to know more of what she’s thinking 🤔😄
Seriously though, you two (three) are a joy to watch and I’m truly grateful for your videos.

@@sanahussain4755 oh! Nooooo! 😂
👌
I agree
I love you guys too! Also with "No voice Ellen" I like it. It gives me a better perspective of this whole thing and even though "voice Ellen" helps me understand what you are saying incase I can't read this cc in time I like it. (Not sure which one I prefer tho.) See you in the next video!
I love your guys content hope everything is well
I’m HoH and my husband didn’t really even notice my deaf accent when he met me.
Yayy, you're back! I really enjoy no-voice-Ellen as your conversations seem a bit more natural and easy-going. Java is such a gem :)))
So glad to see you back again 😍
Finally some UA-camrs that are real honest people thank you for sharing your videos
Of course Reece! Thanks for your kind comment
I appreciate your videos! I prefer when you talk while signing, it's easier for me to connect with what you're saying.
I was just thinking about y'all, wondering where you've been. Missed all three of you so much!
Thanks so much. That means a lot. We hope you are doing well too
Honestly, I think no voice Ellen kept me more engaged with what was being talked about. I've been learning ASL and I was more able to pick up on the signs rather than focusing on hearing what was being said and focusing more on expression rather than relying on my hearing to help. Loved this!
i got here in one minute!!😌 i love y’all content though! it shows how to different people from different worlds can love each other so much!🥺
I did asl for 4 years in high school and I enjoyed everyday of it ,watching you guys now really refresh my mind on a lot of signs !

I don’t know to much sign language but I love your videos
Just discovered your channel, and I love the warmth in your videos, and Java is the cutest creature ever! I am scared of dogs, but she seems very sweet, playful and loving. Also, I cannot imagine speaking and signing at the same time, I could never.
The beginning of the relationship must've been hard, its so inspiring seeing how they are right now (: ❤
it’s fun practice for me when you don’t speak cause i have to rely on catching what you’re signing. it definitely helps me learn more signs too which i love. thank you for the videos!!
I like it when she is talking because it’s easier to remember which sign is which.
I like when you talk while you sign. I'm learning sign language and it helps a ton with learning new signs that are used more often than others.

I think Ryan nailed it. UA-cam subscribers ask to hear him for tone. I wouldn’t ask, personally. But it is hard to watch facial expressions and read subtitles if you don’t know how to sign 😅
Yay! I hope more companies sponsor you guys. I recently lost my hearing and I want to learn ASL so I purchased the membership. Thanks!
I do not know to much sign language but I love your videos and try to understand it
You can turn on the captions!
He spoke briefly in one video, not a very high ordeep voice. was what I expected it to sound like, pretty normal range
@@mallorykane2843 which video?

I’m trying to learn ASL so hearing voice is easier for me to follow a little faster but I can read captions too. Whatever you like best is what you should do.
You're videos encouraged me to start learning sign language and now i can easily speak with my deaf cousin. THANK YOU BOTH SO MUCH!
I would love to hear Ryan talk if he's comfortable doing it for at least 1 vid.
I love that Ellen's is more comfortable signing. It allows the conversation to flow a little smoother and you both seem very relaxed.

You guys are a true insparation. This channel is the reason i learnt ASL and is now fluent in it. Thank you.♥︎✔︎
It is so interesting how Ryan associates talking with memory, while for people who aren’t deaf we may tend to associate ASL or BSL with memory 😀
