  • 3News Alzheimer's month: We met Antonia Bennett in September when she came to Cleveland to judge the 2022 Shining Star CLE High School singing competition. The event raises money for memory care services at Menorah Park, including funding for music therapy for residents.
Antonia Bennett felt a connection to the cause. Her life Is the great American songbook. She's an acclaimed jazz singer and learned from the legends, including her father, Tony Bennett.
In 2015, doctors diagnosed Bennett with Alzheimer's disease. His daughter knew something was off months earlier.
"I started to realize when we would talk about events in our mutual life together and he would erase big portions of it or kind of make his own story about it, I started to realize that maybe this wasn't quite so normal," Antonia said.

So did I! I think it was 1995 in Boston. A local radio station used to put on a free outdoor concert on Boston Common over Columbus Day weekend. I was in the area and got a front row position not knowing who was to appear. Much to my surprise Tony came out with the Ralph Sharon Trio and performed a set. Antonia was attending college in Boston at the time and came out and sang a couple of songs with her Dad. What a treat that was!
