  • Goodie's "Unauthentic" Reading IChing - #7 The Army (Hexagram)
The card illustration is drawn by illustrator AmoLime. The following is the overall description of the image.
While the hexagram literally represents that the river flows under the ground, the image is intentionally laid out so that the river that flows on the ground takes the lower part of the image, so that it focuses more on the dynamic process of gathering. The ground is filled with green grass, implying that the soil is rich with nutrition, probably thanks to the river that flows beneath it.
Children are playing in circle, hand-in-hand. This is a Korean traditional round dance, called gang-gang-sul-rae. It is usually played at the night of full moon in August in lunar calendar. One of the tradition with this dance is that it was played before the night of a battle in order to bluff the enemy into thinking that there are many soldiers patrolling the region.
Five children are drawn, which represents the five lines of yin. Young children implies that this hexagram focuses more at the start of gathering.

Seems like the one yang line represents the inner leader. The one who can unite the voices within oneself as well as people who are open minded and willing to follow.
Could this hexagram reflect an Army which has an evil mission, or is it only referring to leading people for a good cause?

Wow, thank you so much for taking time to share your insight. It's really nice to hear various interpretations.
Just for the record, the old I-Ching document does refer to the yang line as the General of an army who is capable and trusted by the king, and implies that the center line of the upper trigram as a king who is indecisive and not as competent.
I guess sometimes it may be better for a practical and charismatic leader to lead an army, but as you mentioned, the path could go both ways.
