    I've been living in Thailand for the past 18 years but it's gone rapidly downhill, as the cost of living has gone up.
    I'm seriously considering C. America in the next few years, and Panama is right up there.

    I was in PC for roughly 3 weeks. the cost for meals and beer was so cheap. The locals told me it was too far to walk from El Cangrejo to Multi Plaza Mall but they were wrong. It took me about 30 minutes. I walked everywhere. I will say it took me over a week to begin getting acclimated to the humidity. After walking about 5 minutes the sweat started dripping from my body (I was there In August). I could live very frugally in Panama. I took the subway about 10 times during my stay, including too and from the airport. It cost roughly $2 to travel by metro from Estación Eglesia del Carmen to Tocumen airport. If I had taken a taxi it's around $20, still a bargain!

I just laugh quietly to myself when I hear someone say "this country, or that country," is the best country in the world. Almost every country I explore is uniquely inspiring to me in more than one way. That is ultimately why I keep traveling the world slowly rather than settling permanently in one place! Nice video Dan and as usual useful information! I think the town of Pedasi is more surfer youth based and slightly more money than Las tablas and especially Chitre . Any place we see a lot of American surfer kids and lots of gringos will mean it's probably about 25% to a 30% higher than it should be.. I'm thinking Chitre and Santiago would be much better bang for the buck..

    • @VagabondAwake
      @VagabondAwake  2 роки тому +3

      I have never taken it. I can say that we loved spending 6 weeks in Panama and really getting to know our favorite places. We didn't experience any fear here, so being in a group would not be a deciding factor for me. Also, I like forming my own opinions about places without being influenced by others standing next to me (other than Qiang). People are attracted to different rhythms. So I would go alone and spend more time in each place if it were me. But if you onlyhave a week off work or something and you like the idea of someone moving you through the country quickly in an organized way, then maybe it will be right for you. I just don't know. I have never met anyone that has taken their tour.

      Thank you Christine C.! Great question. Because most unfurnished places usually have a few pieces of furniture around. So what I really mean is a place that may have a few things but would not do well as an international "furnished place" as required on places like Airbnb. When you start approaching more western standards even if only meagerly, the price starts going up quickly. So I mean local style, as much as unfurnished. Thanks for watching and commenting. :-) Dan

    You two Kids looked right at home in Pedasi but it only gets a Medium Score... What happen? You Two have too much fun? Possibly it's just business, business, business with you both... Always thinking about us Subscribers and our budgets...
    (Oh, this is a strange request...) But could it be possible to see a night sky on a dark night (No Moon)... Can your camera and equipment handle it...? "Extra Points if it's from the Drone" I know I'm a bit of a nut, but that's me "To Go Where No Man Has Gone Before..."

    Can you get Amazon deliveries there?

    • @fanfare100
      @fanfare100 2 роки тому +4

      Yes, but here's the trick. You open up an account with a mail-forwarding service. Those give you an American address to where your orders are sent and then you simply pick them up at the local branch of your mail forwarding service in Panama as though you were going to the post office. An example of such a service is: Mailboxes Etc. But there are many. And that way you can not only order from Amazon but from any place that offers U.S.-based delivery only. Hope that helps.

      ~ $20/day is like minimum salary, except that in December people get paid an extra month and you already know that healthcare won't bankrupt you, so that's a significant raise and also food is only a fraction of what it is in the U.S., so is your cellphone, public transportation, etc....

      @@deankoch7305 It really does. A sibling survived on $800/month (TOTAL) for two years and didn't even need to live in an efficiency apartment. It was actually a 2BR apartment in Casco with a study/office. Sure it was in an antiquated building's 4th floor and with no elevator, but they're young. lol But what I'm trying to say is that that's not even out in the countryside!
