Injustice GAU Android: How to bring back an expired challenge (and why it's mostly useless)

- update 13/4/2016: As mentioned in the comments, rewards can only be obtained with an internet connection. Since this glitch requires being offline, it is useful only for the credits for each fight, NOT for any of the ladder rewards (bronze pack, 15k credits, silver pack, and challenge character).
update 10/2/2015: If you want to complete the challenge, DO NOT MINIMIZE INJUSTICE. If Injustice restarts, you will lose all progress on an expired challenge.
For the most part, it isn't possible to bring back an expired challenge. You can bring back a challenge that has just expired, which makes it kind of useless for most people.
You can only bring back an expired challenge before the next one has started. Since challenges usually end on a Monday and start 3 days later on Thursday, it's a very small window of opportunity. And with all the people who complain that challenges are too long, clearly this video is not for those people.
There's only a small number of people who might be interested in this: relatively new players who ran out of time and could use an extra day or two to complete the challenge; and people who would rather grind the challenge instead of BB6, or instead of playing MP.

I'm an android user...n my recent challenge was zatanna...my current challenge is "new" killer frost.....my friends have godfall,animated batman beyond,raven etc....I don't have the above mentioned characters.....I'm dying for those characters.......it's there any way to get the previous challenges (not the recent challenge which's passed out)....plz help
I think there's another advantage to be gained in this small window of oppurtunity . You can Elite up challenge characters without spending the ridiculuous amont of credits. For example,I completed MKX scorpion challenge and so he is E2 level.If I do this and complete till nightmare again...Ill get him to E5, whilst grinding away for levels and credits anyway.So its a double advantage.

So bringing back a recent challenge only helps the small group of people who were
1) unable to complete or repeat the challenge during the typical 17-18 days it was running, and
2) are able to complete it now
Yes, it's slightly better grinding than BB6 (while waiting for the next challenge), but only if you are able to complete it.

ThePhoenyxuzprimax Challenge resets and bringing back previous challenges have never affected the game save data; the only data at risk is challenge progress.

ThePhoenyxuzprimax If you watch the video, we actually talk about this. You can't bring back an expired challenge once a new one has started.
That's why asking "can you bring back an expired challenge?" is kind of a messed up question. The technical answer is "yes". But most people are looking to bring back older expired challenges. And for that, the answer is "no".

At the moment, no. Challenge characters usually get added to the pack a few updates after their challenge is over. But there are some challenge characters from much earlier that have yet to be added (e.g. Killer Frost, Red Son Green Lantern)

People are saying that they are losing characters and other content with the latest update ... my question is, before I download this update and potentially lose a lot of content , does the booster pack glitch still work after the new update ??

Possible issue with this. I did this and went through half a challenge stage. Leaving the game after didn't save my progress. Since then, the game started crashing left and right. I tried deleting the cache, then the data...nothing. It just locks or crashes back to home screen. Though laggy, it was working before this. Had to uninstall the game and am downloading it again. Hope that fixes it.
Phoenix Stormcrow Sorry that you're having such problems. With the latest update, Injustice seems a lot more unstable, crashing a lot. This makes it harder to finish an expired challenge like this unless you do it in one go.
Let's ignore the times that Injustice crashes and loses your challenge progress in the normal course of a challenge.
In order for a challenge to appear, Injustice needs to confirm an internet connection upon start up. If Injustice crashes during a normal challenge, that's not a problem: your progress is saved, internet connection is confirmed, and the challenge reappears.
If Injustice crashes while using this glitch to play an expired challenge ... your progress is saved, but restarting *without* an internet connection means the challenge won't reappear. And if you restart *with* an internet connection, the clocks on the server will show that the challenge has expired and ... the challenge won't reappear. So effectively, all progress (playing an expired challenge) is erased if Injustice restarts.
After the latest update, Injustice is a lot more unstable and seems to restart a lot more often after minimizing it.
Because of another commenter, we just completed the RSGL challenge one more time right before reading your comment, so we can confirm that it actually works. But we also didn't leave the app.
We'll add a warning to that effect to the description and video. Please let us know if you still have problems after reinstallation.
bdckr gaming Well, uninstall/reinstall seemed to fix it, though I can say that a fresh install of the game does not remove the new lag from the last update. I have to wonder, though. Does NR have a testing department? Someone should have seen this lag easily.

The season rewards glitch took 2 months+ to fix. Although the booster pack glitch was probably there all along, it took about a month after it became publicized to patch it.

Dude, i was doing today's challenge for the Arkham Origins Joker, I was in the last battle vs the Joker and i closed the app to have launch and when i came back "The challenge was expired" and i had to restarted again. Can anybody help me ? I mean, i lost 200k shopping matches and at least i want my money back. HELP PLEASE !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Papeye Gafur It's too late. The Raven challenge was too far back. Like we say in the video, this can be used to bring back the most recently expired challenge before the next one starts. Which for the moment would be Regime Killer Frost.

Haven't tested recently, but the point is that it's relatively useless, and it became more useless when it became necessary to have an internet connection to collect rewards. Farming it for the battle winnings is still relatively effective when you can't do BB6. But it could only bring back the most recent challenge, nothing earlier, and only until the next challenge appears. Since you can no longer get the challenge characters, the power credit value of bringing back the challenge becomes much less.

daniel arevalo Intentionally? Not really. The challenge just came back for us a moment ago without any effort on our part. If that happens, we'll typically just do the first 8 battles in the first ladder (bronze-only) to get the energy recharge cards.
If it happens and you get the 16k+ days glitch, and you want to redo the challenge, best would be to shut down your internet connection until you're done. If you don't, it can disappear at any time for no reason. But even if you shut down your internet connection, if the game crashes or restarts, you will lose your challenge progress, so be prepared to do as much of it as you can as quickly as you can.
So you're saying it's mostly useless since we can't actually get our designated challenge rewards unless we connect back to the internet, and doing that would just bring up the message "Previous challenge has expired"? Please respond soon, haven't had my iPad connected to Internet all night.

Yes, you can get your challenge rewards. We just did it this morning and got our 10th extra RSGL card. We did it while completely off-line the entire time.
After that, we came back on-line and were able to play an MP fight.
edited to add: The added qualification is that you should avoid minimizing/leaving Injustice. Especially with the new update being so unstable, it is very likely to restart instead of resume when you come back to it. And if it restarts, any challenge progress will be lost.

For a challenge that has only recently finished. And since this video was first posted, it has become less useful -- the rewards for completing ladders can no longer be collected without an internet connection. So you CANNOT get copies of the challenge character after the challenge has expired.
I was playing with wifi of and suddenly I mistakenly turned my tab off and then turned it on and then just saw 888888888888 alliance credits I went to buy joker and I naught it next I went on the home page of the game and saw the scorpion challenge for 16876 days wtf

Mostly from selling Killing Joke Joker. Each one sells for 18 credits. He's currently available in the Most Wanted Pack.
The other is from daily log-in bonuses. Bonuses since Alliance credits were added to Android . But also bonuses from last year when daily log-in bonuses included Alliance credits that didn't show anywhere (but apparently was still tracked in the app data).

The video that you're commenting on describes bringing back an old challenge. It explains why attempting to do so now would be useless because Zatanna's challenge is currently running.
Superficially, there's a passing resemblance (in your comment) to the overbuying glitch that can be accessed via minimizing/reopening or via flip technique. But it sounds more like you're talking about buying through a challenge without having enough credits.
We've never suggested that anyone should buy through a challenge, and we have definitely never made a video demonstrating this. Maybe you have this video mixed up with another one?

As we mention in the description and in the video, there's a very small window when this can be used: bringing back the most recently expired challenge *before* the next one has started. We are in the middle of the MKX Scorpion challenge, so this glitch won't work.

It used to work in a very limited way. But we discuss in the video why it's mostly useless because of how limited the conditions were. And as per the description, ever since it became necessary to be connected to the internet to get any of the ladder rewards or challenge card, there was no point trying.
Also .. did you guys download the new update ? And if so , did you lose any content?
tripset1377 Yes, we did download the update. We didn't lose anything. But it is lagging *a lot*. It crashes more and restarts more.
We just didn't want to take the chance that not updating would affect our ability to get CC Batgirl this season.

We haven't tested this recently, and we probably won't, because it has become even less useful than when we filmed this originally ... wow, more than 1 year ago.
Besides the fact that it is only useful for the most recently expired challenge in that small window before the next challenge starts, it also requires an internet connection to get the ladder rewards (bronze pack, 15k credits, silver pack, challenge character). Since this glitch requires being disconnected from the internet, the only thing that you can farm the challenge for is the credits -- which isn't awful, but it isn't nearly as good as it was before.

Not in a way that's useful. In order to get the rewards, you need to have an internet connection. Once you reconnect to the internet, the challenge expires. So you can farm the battles, but without the rewards for each ladder.
