Hey, I saw Kelloggs makes Crunchy Nut Salted Caramel cornflakes cereal, marketed only in UK and Europe 😢. Maybe you could do a taste test, it's your wheelhouse!
In most small towns across the US, the police will play the firefighters in an annual charity softball game to raise money for some worthy cause. That's the reference to the softball game around 3:40.
In my dad's day, it was because there was a threat that the city was going to combine the two forces in one living space, and the firemen did not want that.
And a "mercy rule" states that if the score is embarrassingly lopsided, the game will be forfeited to spare everyone the headache of finishing a game that's already "over." A mercy rule might state that, if the score in a softball game is, say, 72 to 3 in the 5th inning, they'd probably call it.
@@OneThousandHomoDJs There’s also a mercy rule in Little League, only ten runs an inning. In college and high school sports, like basketball, if you’re up by 30, it’s a running clock. They don’t stop the clock like they normally would for out of bounds, or scores.
Well, there's different statistics related to unemployment. People who are actively looking for a job and unemployed (long term), people who only unemployed for a week or two in-between different jobs (frictional unemployment), and people who are not looking for a job and unemployed either because they are homeless with no desire to work, or because they have another means of income.
Hi Diane! It's been chilly here, so I bought a sweater but it was full of static electricity, so I returned it to the store and they gave me another one free of charge. Happy Monday!
That is also based on the percentage on unemployment and looking for a job. If you have timed out on your unemployment benefits, you are no longer counted. I.e., lots of unemployed people not looking for employment and/or not being counted.
Fun video as always, Diane! For me Daniel Tosh has always been one of those comedians that if it's been a while since I've seen him I find myself enjoying his standup, but at the same time I reach my capacity for his content fairly quickly and then have no real desire to watch any of his stuff again for an extended period of time.
The name Tosh has several possible origins. Scottish (central and eastern): shortened form of McIntosh , which is also established in Antrim and Derry, Ireland. Based on US Census Bureau data the estimated population of people named TOSH is 2,485, the rank is 13,297 and the proportion per 100k Americans named TOSH is 0.78. Happy Monday Diane! I really enjoy your reactions to these comedians because your reactions to them are funny and cute and genuine. And they make my day better. Thanks for sharing this. Have a great rest of your week! 😅😁👍
I have watched Tosh.O before on comedy central on cable. First time I have seen the uncensored version. Uncensored version is better. Unemployment rate right now is 3.5 percent in 2023. We all want the easiest most paying job possible. Chewie does have the best job ever being cute. Being paid in treats and cuddles is a big plus. Thanks for making the start of the week joyful Diane.
The great thing about Tosh is he looks so clean - I mean, at a glance you would not expect what comes out of his mouth. I think that gives him an edge on the humor right out of the gate. Regardless, he is a very underrated comedian.
The unemployment numbers are not a full representation of the number of people with jobs because they are a comparison of the number of people with jobs vs the number or people looking for work. They don't include people who can't work because they are on disability or stay at home parents who are not looking for work.
From the beginning Daniel tosh has been totally honest about him trying to offend everybody in. I believe this is actually his genius to continuing his routine as he does. As much more tenured comedians say David Chappelle have been blasted.
I have a recommendation for you, check out Mr. Ballen. I watch him on UA-cam but I think he's on other social media formats as well. He is a very good storyteller.
The U.S. has a 3.6% unemployment rate. We are having a labor shortage. If a person wants a job, then they will get one. Ireland's unemployment rate is only at 4.4%. This is amazing since it typically hovers around 10% historically.
11:33 Most economists prefer an unemployment rate around four percent as a sign of a healthy economy. If it's higher, then the economy isn't growing quickly enough to keep peopleemployed; if it's below four percent then the economy isn't expanding enough to challenge new frontiers. It's also an effect of the supply and demand curves for the cost of labor.
The unemployment rate is currently US Unemployment Rate is at 3.60%, compared to 3.40% last month and 3.80% last year. However, they don't count people who have been unemployed for so long that their benefits have run out, and they are no longer eligible to receive unemployment benefits.
Hi Diane! You should listen to the group Pentatonix. Its a cappella group. They have won 3 Grammy awards. They were nominated for 4. I never heard of a cappella group winning a Grammy. Please check them out. You will love them. They sing cover songs. Listen & watch them sing "The Prayer" - "Amazing Grace"- "Imagine" - "Sound of Silence" - "Daft Punk" -Oh you will love their version of "Hallelujah" - "Little Drummer Boy" - " Can You Feel the Love Tonight" Your audience will love it. 👌 😉
So this is a deep cut - but you might enjoy Tom Lehrer songs. He was a math teacher turned comedian/singer back in the 1950s, but many of his songs are still perfectly relevant. Now, the 'Irish Ballad' song has lots of stereotypes. But songs like Poising Pigeons in the Park, The Vatican Rag, I Got it From Agnes (recently a lot more relevant), The Elements, The Hunting Song, etc. are all fun.
Diane - I'm sure somebody's already it said it, but the Cops and Fireman sometimes have softball games against each other, as many business' and industries do. These are usually weekend games, nearly always involving a keg of beer, and maybe family and friends. A mercy rule, is used if one team leads by 9 runs, then the game's over. It can actually be however many runs people agree to, but it's actually foolish in a softball game (just like baseball, but with a bigger ball and a shrunken field), as scores of 25 to 18 are not unheard of. Nines runs can be made up. I think the mercy rule is most commonly used in Little League games (kids, playing with a regulation hardball, as in the pros, but on the smaller, 2/3rd size field that softball is played on). In Little League, one team might be way better than another, so a 9 run mercy rule, puts the losers out of their misery, and everyone goes out for pizza or ice cream (to let the healing begin). As to the name Tosh, the only other time I've heard that name, was Peter Tosh, who along with Bob Marley and Bunny Wailer, formed the Wailers, an early Reggae band from Jamaica, around '62 (Get Up, Stand Up, Don't Give Up the Fight, and many others). His given name was Hubert McIntosh. As to Daniel Tosh, I'm not sure if his comedy half hour show is still on Comedy Central or not, but it's basically a standup show with a few skits thrown in, structured more or less like the Chappelle Show once was. He comes across as a sweet, innocent kid from the Midwest (I don't know, Ohio or so), but believe me, he's got a dark side. He's quite funny, to my mind, but there have been times when I've cringed, which when it comes to comedians, I think is a good sign. As to Unemployment figures (not that I really understand them), but they are not a 'true' number of the percentage of people unemployed to those employed. It's more about how many people filed for unemployment benefits the past month, than anything. Once the Unemployment benefits run out, some people just give up and become homeless, no longer 'counted' amongst the employed or unemployed. Truly, a man without a country, kind of homeless.
LOVE THIS GUY! I appreciate when Americans can laugh at themselves. We as Canadians laugh at ourselves all the times. Granted, we do laugh at Americans too. 🤣😉
I love Diane! But I ... don't love Daniel Tosh 😬 But it was fun to see this reaction. Diane's killing it with the great content 🙌 Anything to keep Chewie employed! 😂
3:48 here in America, between all first responders: firefighters, cops, ems, sanitation, etc... the departments we serve in have organized sports teams: baseball, softball, football, hockey, soccer, wrestling, etc... Almost yearly, departments, mainly cops and firefighters will host a charity game. Proceeds go to organizations/ charities that serve members of both departments in need of financial help because of health or injury, they cant work. Theres also history of, we call it sibling rivalry between cops and firefighters. In the heat of the game, winning is taken so seriously, tempers can flare and I leave imagination up to you... Stereotypically, for purposes of explaining the joke, stereotypes say that POC are more athletic than white people. "Who wants tickets to the softball game now? Better put in a mercy rule..." hopefully the explanation helps!
Cities across America have an event called Guns and Hoses. It's where the firefighters compete against the cops in either boxing, basketball or some other sport.
Curse: It's going to start raining at 3pm heavy and it will not let up for 5 hours, even though the internet told you that there was only a 20% chance of light rain. And you decided not to bring your umbrella.
9 percent! US unemployment is at 3.6% in 2023. We got up to 10% in 2009 and almost 15% in 2020. The height of the great depression saw 25%. That's based on working age adults. We don't count children and retirees. Though I would argue children are "employed" in going to school. Retirees are "self employed" by their retirement investments and savings.
Tosh is American. Americans generally don't get upset when comedians make fun of America. There is an unspoken rule that people or groups that belong to that group can make fun of it. The softball game reference is that there is sometimes softball games between local Police and Fire Fighting departments within a town or city. So white vs black in baseball, hence the mercy rule.
He had a tv show where they had a skit that I still laugh about. A woman pulls up to a car crash scene. She had those white family outline stickers on the back of her truck window. She says to the cop "that's my son's car is he ok?" The cop just peels off the boy sticker. 😂 Every time I see those driving I start laughing.
The current U.S. unemployment rate is 3.6 percent. However, unemployment in the U.S. is defined as "the share of the labor force that is without work but available for and seeking employment.", so it does not mean 96.4% of the U.S. is employed. Young children, retired people, severely disabled, etc... are not part of the unemployment number.
Just for the record, Unemployment numbers are only those collecting unemployment (mostly). Those no longer eligible or never were eligible (terminated/retired, etc.) for unemployment are not counted. The number is closer to (over) 20% if you look at the right (more realistic) metrics. That 9% is higher than pre-covid/non-recession numbers. Typical numbers (1980s-2010s) used to be between 5 & 6% for the most used unemployment statistics in good economic climates.
The unemployment percentage is of those who are actively seeking work, and doesn't count those who have stopped looking for any reason (students, retired, temporary/permanently disabled, decided to be stay at home parent, etc). The actual percentage is far higher than the reported 4%-6%.
When the USA is gone, and you don't have us to kick around anymore - You'll see that the Top Ten only existed, BECAUSE WE DID ! Always loved his TV show TOSH 2.0
Diane, our unemployment rate only counts persons currently receiving compensation. "Workplace Participation Rate" for the 12 month period ending in Feb '23. Ranged from 62.1-62.5% So in other words. Nearly 40% of Americans are not working. Dale
Sometimes, police and firefighter forces will have friendly rivalries in competitive sports. It's not a big thing, just a piece of North American trivia ; the larger cities will organize their own Police and Firefighter baseball/softball leagues and teams and such, and hold events of them going head-to-head on the playing fields. It's a community-building thing more than a serious competition, but the dick-measuring still manifests in fun/harmless ways, lol.
The joke about the softball game: Many local fire departments and police departments have a softball game between each other and use it as a fundraiser. Often, they don't really like each other, either because their fundings from local governments are basically cut from the same pool. So, if the police department gets more money than the fire department or vice versa, the other side will get salty about it because the extra money that went to the police COULD HAVE gone to the fire department. And that's the joke. If you made all cops black, and all cops white, not only would the athleticism of the game be in different leagues, it would create another "black vs. white" thing, further stoking the fire of racial tensions.
I'm an American, and I'm a supervisor at a manufacturing plant. I'm a fan of Tosh and have heard this bit plenty, but never stopped to think about it. I would say there's a good 10% of people at the company that shouldn't be working there 🤔
3:42 “Who wants tickets to the Softball game now?” A lot of American Cities have annual charity Softball(very similar to Baseball) games where the Police Department plays against the Fire Department. His premise adds a racial element to the game, and he implies more tickets would be sold.
The U.S. unemployment rate in February of 2021 was 6.20%. In February of 2022 the unemployment rate was 3.80%. The current unemployment rate as of February 2023 is 3.60%.
The softball reference that you didn't understand: in small towns in America, it's fairly common for the police department and the fire department to have a friendly game of softball. Now this isn't something that happens in New York where the NYPD has 35,000 officers. This is for small towns, where its like 10 v 10.
The NYPD and FDNY play each other in several sports every year, including baseball, softball, hockey and rugby. They also play vs departments from other cities. Last August the baseball game was held in the Mets' Citi Field in front of over 3,500 people and raised over $80,000 for charity.

Diane, police and firefighters always play 1 or 2 softball/ baseball games against each other for the competition between the departments.

I love tosh this special and his one where the parts are all named after colors are hilarious he needs to come back it'd been so long
That wasn't Tosh's best stuff, this dude is a savage, he was going easy in this bit.
It’s his most viewed!
The current U.S. unemployment rate is 3.6 percent. However, unemployment in the U.S. is defined as "the share of the labor force that is without work but available for and seeking employment.", so it does not mean 96.4% of the U.S. is employed. Young children, retired people, severely disabled, etc... are not part of the unemployment number.
man Tosh's comedy special has aged amazingly well
I always liked Sam Kinison's marriage and world hunger. Being a former Minister brings some fire to the routine.
you definitely have to do a lot more daniel tosh
Another excellent reaction video everyone have a wonderful week!😎👍
Thanks! You too!
Damnit. I just ran out of ink while endorsing a check. You jinxed me.
You might want to check out 5 from Daniel. For clarity, 5 is the name of the cut from his special Happy Thoughts.
I believe he has / had a shown on late night TV show called "Tosh.0" on Comedy Central ran 2009 to 2020
The unemployment percentage is of those who are actively seeking work, and doesn't count those who have stopped looking for any reason (students, retired, temporary/permanently disabled, decided to be stay at home parent, etc). The actual percentage is far higher than the reported 4%-6%.
Sooooo funny and soooo accurate! 😂😂
When the USA is gone, and you don't have us to kick around anymore - You'll see that the Top Ten only existed, BECAUSE WE DID ! Always loved his TV show TOSH 2.0
Daniel Tosh is just really sarcastic.
You should react to Insane Assassination Attempts on US Presidents That Almost Worked by the infographic show.
😱
Diane, our unemployment rate only counts persons currently receiving compensation. "Workplace Participation Rate" for the 12 month period ending in Feb '23. Ranged from 62.1-62.5% So in other words. Nearly 40% of Americans are not working. Dale
7:30 Lmfao.
Yeah...
Called it!
love this guy
Never heard of him before
@@DianeJennings never heard of him until you put him on, but I like what he had to say,
Sometimes, police and firefighter forces will have friendly rivalries in competitive sports.
Hello to the two Diane's. 🌹❤️🇺🇸🇮🇪
You need to do an eating tour of this US!
Tosh is actually German but moved to America when he was young.
I'm an American, and I'm a supervisor at a manufacturing plant. I'm a fan of Tosh and have heard this bit plenty, but never stopped to think about it. I would say there's a good 10% of people at the company that shouldn't be working there 🤔
3:42 “Who wants tickets to the Softball game now?”
A lot of American Cities have annual charity Softball(very similar to Baseball) games where the Police Department plays against the Fire Department. His premise adds a racial element to the game, and he implies more tickets would be sold.
The U.S. unemployment rate in February of 2021 was 6.20%. In February of 2022 the unemployment rate was 3.80%. The current unemployment rate as of February 2023 is 3.60%.
Tosh is a G.O.A.T. his show Tosh.0 is even more off the wall than his comedy.
The segment of this kid riding a bicycle off of a tailgate, and crying weird. He says "shut up, god, you sound like your mother." Lol
Daniel had a TV show called Tosh.0, stand up, skits...funny.
Enjoying your channel, cheery bye
Omg I loveeeee your channel! ❤ can you do a UK and Irish themed video?? 😊
I live in England, and all jokes aside, there’s really nothing that much different between UK and Irish people. It’s just the government’s that are c**ts 😅😂❤❤
Love youuuuuuu ❤❤❤❤
Daniel Tosh is American. Not Canadian. He was born in Germany.
Fire Fighters & Police have tournaments where they play Soft Ball against each other.
