From my perspective, newer immigrants have unrealistic expectations. Thanks to social media. In the real estate space for example, I see a lot of 😢unhealthy competition. Ha , my friend just bought ..we want to buy too..even when it's clear that you really cannot afford it. If over 45% of your monthly salary is going towards paying mortgage... you really can not afford that property. People must realize and acknowledge the season of life they are in.. . If you're in the season of planting , stop comparing yourself with someone in their harvesting season. Be content, work hard, pray hard, move with the ✅️ tribe ( but avoid unhealthy competition) and all will be well. CANADA 🇨🇦 is a great country, but things aren't handed to you on a plater of gold. Can I hear an AMEN?! 😅
It’s not about jumping from one country to another. You can make it anywhere. Just work towards your vision and make the best of what you have. Trust God in your timing as well. Even in Nigeria, people are achieving groundbreaking feats!! If you like go the country tagged as “the best” (with many opportunities as well), but without having a renewed mindset and clear cut vision, you’ll still struggle.
As a person born and raised in Canada, I would NEVER tell anyone to move here. The country is in clear decline. Opportunities are getting harder to come by, and the cost of living, especially after taxes, is insane. A person making $50,000 per year has to choose between having a car or renting a "cheap" place to live. Places like Saskatoon are more affordable, but there are even fewer opportunities there. For the record, I am looking for a new country to call home. I'll make sure to listen to the advice on this channel when I level Canada, the only home I have ever known.
Searching jobs applying thousands jobs online no answer even labour job not available situation here quite hard since the covid19 everything went mess up economic problems not only in canada across the world and the Ukraine and Russia war cause global recession.
You are so right. These are some of the reasons I have left Canada. It is so sad because it has such potential but the governments tax everyone so high and send the money overseas to countries like Ukraine to help finance a war but that is just one of the ways the government (liberal) wastes tax payer money.
I earn 6 figures now. Let me take you all through memory lane.. I got to US in 2016. Slept on the rug for I year, started my first job at a warehouse, 12 hours standing all night, moved to delivery jobs, moved to moving jobs, switched back to delivery job, switched to house cleaning job, switched to warehouse jobs, switched to uber job before finally landing a 6 figure jobs with two major financial institutions remotely. People simply don't want to go through any transformation. Very very unhealthy competition. Even with my 6 figures now, I still don't see buying a house as a priority. I NEVER TOOK MY CAR ON LOAN.
I wanted to apply to Cornell last year my uncle in the US discouraged Mr. He said I will never get the permit to work and stay indefinitely as I will be sent out of the Us immediately after my programme
Thanks for the content. Lovely as usual. Cost of living as skyrocketed all over the world. We are experiencing this in the UK too. Electricity and gas cost have quadrupled over night and no pay rise. I guess this is our new normal. May the Lord continue to bless us to manage effectively what we currently earn.
Thank you so much for your brilliant analysis on how it is living here in Canada. I've been here since 2019, and I am still trying to find my way as to what it is that I really need to live a happy life. We live in Ontario, and it is indeed difficult and challenging. Like you said, however, we can not look at how other people are living and want to be like them; they would have paid their dues. Anyhow, thank you for being real on the topic of living here. 🎉
You should learn about tent city in vancouver. It is difficult and challenging for the average canadian born in the 1990s. I guarantee that there are people born here who have it worse than you do. Canada likes to hide it’s problems, but there are starving people and children in this country, it is just silenced. My parents are immigrants, and I see the same problems for others born in this country, the opportunities are just not here anymore.
@nomdeguerre2030 I haven't seen or heard of tent city in Vancouver. However, I do note with great dismay that there are many Canadians who are homeless and cannot afford to purchase food or basic needs. I work with people who cannot afford to stay home whenever they're sick. So they show up for work instead, and then everyone else contracts whatever their illness is. All in all, it's not an easy road, and while most people are having a difficult time in Canada, I know for sure that most immigrants persevere.
The few tips I got from this video: -Don't keep up with the Jones. -Be true to yourself and what you want. -Stay in your lane. -Upscale yourself -No where is perfect- adjust.
I,m going to thrive in canada!! studying cybersecurity for 1 year.. bring my years of experience along too however I'm super open to new learning experiences.
Can I give you a hug? Marina, you are the best, most realistic and someone that can be looked up to. As for me and my family, this Canada will favour us, we will thrive and be happy every day of our lives. God bless you
Hi Marina, i admired your humility and forthrightness. It is always very IMPORTANT to ask yourself the WHY questions in any major decision you undertake. Why do i want to do it? Is there another option? what are the risks associated with my decision? How do i measure progress? When should i press the PAUSE or STOP botton? This gives you assurance to deal with any challenges that would arise. It is expected that no decision is 100 percent perfect, however you better position yourself to weather any storm if you have answered the key questions sincerely
Loved the video! Too many people are living above their means and that’s the biggest problem. But that’s how the system is designed here. Most people are worried about social status. Riding $70,000 vehicles when you make less than 50,000 before taxes. It’s ridiculous 😂
I think that’s part of the problem, but the other huge crisis here is that housing is extremely unaffordable even if you are trying to live under your means. A regular family house (2 bedrooms) can go over 1 million dollars. Yes families can live in apartment, but if you have lots of kids it doesn’t provide much space
@@abic67 Moving province or at least out of the expensive area (I'm in Ontario so moving out of Toronto to a smaller city will significantly reduce costs) is the easiest solution here. I really appreciate your perspective. I am a 7th generation Canadian, and i think it is shameful the way our government is basically scamming immigrants.
Hello Marina, I stumbled on your Channel today by chance and I love your presentation. Since I love encouraging my fellow Nigerians, I have no choice than to subscribe. Hope to enjoy your videos.
Thank you so much Marina. You are doing a great job and youu were so on point.i tell people, know where God has planted you per season and thrive there.Every country has their peculiar challenges. The grass always looks greener on the other side until you go there and realise that they may have been using filters to take the pictures😅😅.I live in Nigeria and I am still doing my migration research because I know that social media is different from reality.Im not in a hurry to leave for now.People take pictures in beautiful places but will never tell you how many jobs they keep up with to fund the lifestyle. What you said applies to everyone irrespective of your location. You can make money from anywhere but you need to have the right mindset.I applaud you for being so real in a world where people want to be fake just to please people or gain more followers.God bless you.
Thank you so much for your blunt comment. You said it as it is. Canada has been tough since my arrival into the country last year August 2022. Reality is totally different from the pictures taken with filters. I wish you the best of lucks as you continue to research on the best course of action. Above all,May the Lord lead you. Stay blessed.
God bless you, Marina. No sugar coating in you. You are one blunt and honest blogger l really hold in high esteem. Not living unrealistic lifestyle. A whole lot of new immigrants are falling into this deep unrealistic expectations because of the many fake easy live styles some of the UA-camrs are painting. Migration isn’t as easy as people think. Some may be lucky to have it going smoothly from day one while others may go through zigzag route. This observation is happening here in UK as well. I see people trying to proof that they have arrived or making fast progress by moving into a bigger houses, getting hire purchase cars and many other expenses that they have better options. A friend was telling me how a young international student with wife & a child recently moved from their two bedroom apartment to a semi detached house and when the first utilities and council tax bills came, they were dumbfounded because they got almost £400 bill for gas & electricity alone. Some are not doing their due diligence before jumping gun. Apartment would have been cheaper and pocket friendly for them but now they just increase their monthly expenses . Council tax is far cheaper in an apartment than a semi detached house. Of course no problem in getting a bigger house so far one can conveniently pay but not for a struggling international students.
If compare Nigeria vs Canada of course the lattter wins! And Saskatoon I know and it is one of the nicest cities in Canada, with everything you need and a very friendly welcoming population.

My sister, you talk true ooo, I am seeing lots of international students here and I pity them, please international students intending to come , please make sure your full 1 year school fees is ready available.
Thanks for making this video and being truthful.
Good video ,huge thanks!!!
I really appreciate your perspective. I am a 7th generation Canadian, and i think it is shameful the way our government is basically scamming immigrants.
You are right alot people don't really know until they get there is a different story
Hello Marina, I stumbled on your Channel today by chance and I love your presentation. Since I love encouraging my fellow Nigerians, I have no choice than to subscribe. Hope to enjoy your videos.
Thank you, love what you said.
Québec emergency times are around 12 hr
Wow! That is longggg
Initially I thought the sponsorship advertisement is a bit long. However subsequently the content was really really very nice. Thank you so much.
Much appreciated!
Hi thanks for ur vedio so for ur lemonade financial app but Nigeria is not among the countries please indicate
It is for transfers from Canada, US and UK. You can transfer to Nigeria on the app.
Amen....continue to thrive😊
Thank you very much.,..excellent presentation. Very factual information
Your observations are spot on
Thank you so much Marina.
My hubby and I we say thank it's clear merci beaucoup ❤❤❤
You're welcome 😊
Very informative video, well done. It's been a while since I watched your channel.
Where have you been? Thanks for coming back
God bless you, Marina.
Skills and Values is top notch. I always say this. Thank you Marina.
Thank you very much Marina for your sincerity in this video.
My pleasure!
If compare Nigeria vs Canada of course the lattter wins! And Saskatoon I know and it is one of the nicest cities in Canada, with everything you need and a very friendly welcoming population.
