I have been using your tips for years to hide everyday items and actually have the same basket you have your paper stored in. I use mine to hide small kitchen appliances I don't use daily. The only thing I could think of to share with you was turning large entertainment centers that no longer hold the the type of TV'S we have now into closets and pantries. We have two in our mudroom. They were painted and refitted with shelves and hanging rods. They are beautiful and hide everyday clutter. One was free and we paid $17 for the other.

My favorite ways that someone repurposed two of those TV armoires was to turn one into a hidden baking center in her kitchen ( supplies,Kitchen Aid mixer, bowls, spatulas, etc.,like the old time Hoosiers) and the other was a mini kitchenette for her guest room with a mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker, mugs, supplies, etc.
Oh,and the third was an office/ guest linen closet with pillows, blankets, white towels, snack basket, etc.🥰🙌🏻

I'm always looking for small space storage ideas - but finding beautiful ones is wonderful! Love this! Thank you! My storage idea for those who don't have husbands who build, is to use old rolling carts (like old microwave ones) in closets. They roll in and out and add extra storage. - Tammy

I just love your home and your videos! I always come away from watching with lots of fun, beautiful ideas and, perhaps even more importantly, with a sense of peace and calm. You have a lovely, sweet demeanor and you've made your home an oasis of calm in this chaotic world. I'm inspired!

My home was built in 1900 so there’s little closets where available and the basement is outside access only. This video was very helpful because I need storage that is not only functional but decorative as well.

Andrea thank you for sharing all your great ideas for organizing our homes. You have a a way of making everything look so cohesive. My oldest just moved out and got his own place and my youngest is at grad school for the next 4 years. I’m trying to take my home back and these are great ideas.

Great ideas. Thank you for sharing. So good to see that more kids are being home schooled in this day and age.Everything about the public schools of today are scary for so many reasons. I was brought up in the mid 50s and 60s and the differences are like night and day..

Ive never seen a more beautiful home school room. You suggested using a basket on a shelf to hide items and I got off the couch, went and found a basket, emptied the contents of the shelf into it, put the basket on the shelf. Done. Thanks for the tip.

Your sun room updates look so lovely! I love making the everyday things look beautiful as well! This year we’re homeschooling in our dining room and we have a lovely hutch that I store all of our current curriculum in. I love using all of the same items you described. I also love to leave beautiful books out and opened up, especially antique hymnals. We use them everyday so it just makes sense to “decorate” with the musical notes on display. I also have some lovely linen math primers that I just always leave out because they are so beautiful (made by Simply Charlotte Mason). Another thing I like to do is buy beautiful linen notebooks for schoolwork, so if they are left out they look pretty. Lastly, I try to use equipment that looks vintage inspired, like our pencil sharpener. It just added charm 💕 of course these aren’t organizing tips, they are more related to homeschool but it certainly is something I wish I would have known years ago, and might inspire someone else.

I don’t even have kids, but I ALWAYS watch all of your videos! 😂
I love using all kinds of things to store everyday items. One of my favorites is a little pair of saddle oxford shoes I found at Goodwill that just make me smile every time they I see them. I tied the laces and put them on top of my “command center” and store paper clips in one and binder clips in the other. The command center itself is my own old baby wardrobe that has drawers on one side and a door with hanging space on the other. I took out the hanging rod and added adjustable shelf supports. I have a paper shredder in the bottom below the shelf and a hanging mesh file basket attached to the back of the door with cup hooks that holds my current year financial files. The drawers hold office and stationary supplies, greeting cards, and bins for paper recycling sorted by type (a dish pan fits the drawers perfectly and when it’s full I just pull it and take to the local recycling center). I also use a lot of reproduction brand name food tins to store those or similar foods in the kitchen.

Hi Andrea! This was fun to watch! Loved how your hubby shortened that entertainment center and put wheels on it! How handy is he??? Looks great! I actually use an entertainment center for a sofa table. So when you walk into our home you see a small entry table to the right but straight ahead you see a beautiful wood with black wrought iron entertainment center which is decorated with whatever seasonal decor /antiques I use....it blends into the main living room/dining room/kitchen. The best part it was a Pier One find when they went out of business and matches the living room shelving unit from Pier One which I had purchased years before. Thinking outside the box always makes decorating a little more interesting!

I love this! Like you, I am a thrift shopper, and I pick up beautiful storage containers when I find them. I have discovered that I need to have a container of containers, so I have them available when I need them. I much prefer to have a pretty basket, crock, etc. than a plastic bin. Having a stash at the ready has been helpful. I also pick up pretty baskets to put together gift baskets when the occasion arises. Thanks for another great video! Blessings to you and yours!

Loved this video! Everything about it and I don’t homeschool so it is definitely useful for everyone! My organization best friends besides all you’ve mentioned: canvas totes, s-hooks can be pretty when you use shower curtain types found in variety instead of the hardware store looking ones, a take on glass jars is reusing coffee containers and pasta sauce jars. Shoe racks serve as shelving too for small spaces and come in wood you can stain or paint or distress, etc…

I’m homeschooling 3rd year. It was just my daughter for first 2 yrs and this year my son started. We have a huge kids room where i set up everything for them on one half of the room and the other all 3 of them play. All the extras for homeschooling i keep in hallway closet in basket. I organize completed work into boxes so it doesn’t pile up in kids room because i just dont like clatter. 😊 i think homeschooling is one of the best decisions we made with our kids.

Andrea... I would love to bring you into my own home to take a look. I bought a home on a lake that is on about 10 acres of land. My home was built just under a year before I purchased it. It was practically brand new when moving in because the previous owners who built it, only lived in it for 3 weeks and hadn't even completely moved in. It is a very open concept, like VERY open. I have a tiny kitchen with absolutely no storage and in my living and dining room area, one entire wall (which is the largest) consists of 2 sets of big sliding glass doors that go out on our deck which overlooks the lake and then we have 2 very short walls and the other wall consists of our kitchen the opening to our hallway and the opening + a small platform which goes to our upstairs master bedroom. There is only a very tiny section of actual "wall" on that side. To top off no wall space which means no room for furniture and items big like that, ALL of our walls in our entire home and our huge pitched ceilings are all real slabs of knotty pine that are sealed. I have my interior design certification and spent many years designing and setting up the interior of homes to be listed on the market as well as getting them ready for professional photos, Videos, etc. In my area and all the surrounding areas, I am the go to girl for all interior design, however, I absolutely struggle with the interior of my own home 🤦‍♀️ It has gotten to a point of giving up after attempting to figure out ways to style my furniture, be able to add more furniture, figure out storage and organization areas, etc. Oh yea and I also have zero storage in my home and I mean zero! I wish there was some way to give you a good idea of what exactly my home looks like and we could put our minds together and figure out some kind of system that is actually presentable and functional for my home 🙏 I do appreciate all your tips and tricks and have been taking them all in for a long time now but this home has just gotten the best of me lol 😆 There are some great tips right here in this video and I appreciate you sharing them with us all ❣️❤️

Hi Andrea..would you mind reposting the video for when you did the joint compound on the air stone on your fireplace? When I tried to find it, it said it had been removed..Thank you so much!

Regarding the cold in winter, are these original windows and do you have exterior storms? Adding exterior storms to original old wood windows has a much better payback than replacement windows. If these windows already have exterior storms or are already replacement windows with insulating glass and it’s still cold I’d suggest looking into removable interior storm windows (Indow is one brand but there are others).

    Love your videos!
Have you ever thought of installing a behind the door bookshelf? See: ua-cam.com/video/GaIq-N2QXMI/v-deo.html
Or since you have a very handy husband he could build one!
