NO WAY!I remember seeing Ben on Police Interceptors a couple years ago, those boys were incredible! They inspired me to join Police Cadets. I'm so glad youtube recommended the channel to me. Thank you Ben
Brilliant video! I was howling. The off milk. Just fyi! Lisa Farrand the police advisor was on set and part of production from series 1 of Happy Valley. She’s an old friend of Sally’s and has been the main aid in everything being so realistic. Amazing to hear she did such a good job. X
The thing that amazed me the most was how they got the "office banter" very almost Bob on. And I must note I did notice her kit and methods/procedure were also spot on too
That series..THE BEST....you've answered all the questions I asked about the content love it that you love it as much as we all did xxx but hey ... you never mentioned the superb acting, Sarah is Magnificent .... and That ba...rd Tommy... what an actor !!!!
Yes we are concerned Tommy shuffled off the mortal coil, cos it means its the end of Happy Valley, now if he had survived and got his life sentance there might have been more..... other than that utterly brilliant series, superb acting and script - totally believable dialogue 11/10
Genuinely one of the best if not THE best drama series I’ve ever watched. I think the realness really helped that. I think we all know Tommy lee Royce couldn’t have escaped in real life but obviously it was a vital part of the storyline
Great video Ben! I'd love to see you do a reaction video to police based computer games such as Ready or Not, SWAT 4 or LSPFR (A police role playing mod for GTA V)
As I said when we watched the whole series 1,2 & 3 again, if only ALL our Police officers were as good as Sargent Catherine Cawood, we'd all be a lot better off!!!
I grew up in Hebden and finally got round to watching this series. I thought it was fantastic and everything felt so real, from the technicals to how people reacted in real-life situations. I also felt the escape was the only low point and would have been better if he'd just take advantage of a momentary lapse in procedures rather than it being pre-planned. Also HMIT were possibly a bit more capable that you might expect from a local force? The Calder Valley is a great location for this kind of thing and I recognised almost every place they filmed. A particular highlight was after Tommy escaped from the car and a lovely shot across to Booth cricket club in the distance.
This is the 2nd video of Ben's I've watched and I'm really enjoying the content, he's very likable, I'd probably avoid a cup of tea at his house though
Brother I feel you with the off milk. Peelers and security guards must have that in common because when I was doing it, it wouldn’t matter if the milk in the coffee was off or if it was cold and three days old you’d still drink it 😂
Can just imagine Ben pulling someone over now 😃 ‘Good evening You are under arrest for the offence of err’ 1 minute later ‘Any chance I can borrow your phone to look up what I’m charging you with please? I’ve left my phone at home’ 😃 Just joking Ben my exes mom had a memory problem mind you she was 70 😃
Cool that you commented on the uniform, radio procedure etc.. I’m a soldier and it drives me nuts that case’s can’t get their actors (when playing the part of a soldier) to get those basics right.. Might seem silly to a civilian but cops & soldiers pick up on these things in the blink of an eye, based purely on that observation I’ll start watching it this evening.. Cheers
I know what you mean. I'm ex-Army and I can't count the number of times I've spotted major errors on uniforms, protocols etc. I once saw a navy character wearing an air force commendation medal (dad was usaf) in a tv show. And PLEASE will someone teach actors how to salute! Great video, Ben. 👍
Definitely watch it, it’s great! I’d advise starting to watch it reasonably early in the evening as you’ll want to watch “the next episode” plus you may want the chance to watch something “happier” before going to bed during the 1st season as it’s quite emotional 😊
I binged watch'ed it while self isolating with covid. It's very hard hitting but so watchable. One of the very best. I'll give it a few months then delight in watching it all again. Catherines interactions with her sister and often difficult young grandson at home ......the accents, the fags getting smoked, the cups of tea....so good so realistic/authentic
Hi Ben, I have a question.. I loved you on Police Interceptors and I love this channel and especially this video because I absolutely LOVE Happy Valley… you say the drama is such a true reflection of real life policing and I loved that until I started watching Happy Valley for the second time tonight… in series 1, episode 3, pc cawood’s sergeant in the car asks her to retrieve a claim against the village councillor and get rid of the evidence of him driving under the influence causing a road traffic incident and also possession of cocaine. All this because the sergeant says “the councillor does a lot for the force”…He also got away with refusing a breath sample… I would just like to know if this is a true reflection of the police force? Would a sergeant try to hide an inside crime like this in real life? Are the police really corrupt?
One thing I disliked was how they went from the bowlers & custodians in S1 to everyone in the gender neutral flat caps in S2 & S3. Shouldn't have done away with tradition. Keep traditional headwear!
@@garethhelliwell9736 Interesting, I wonder why? At least they didn’t do away with them completely and start issuing those mall cop baseball caps some forces give out. Embarrassing.
Another excellent video fella and as I've said before you're doing well keep going I had to smile with people's comments about the helmets I've still got my first issue helmet made of light weight non protective material When it was my time to go in the 90s the stores clerk booked my uniforms back in and explained they'd be destroyed He said keep the helmet if you want it and so glad I did its got a lot of good memories with it haha!!
This video could have came with spoiler warning 🤣🤣 I have just got to the end of season 2, just about to start season 3 but I don't need to now, thanks Ben 🤣🤣
I don't know anything about the police (apart from being sectioned once; they were decent and didn't make things worse, but I have some privilege as a middle-class white woman). You could say something about what I understand to be the theme rather than the personalities. This is apparently a part of Yorkshire which looks gorgeous and is very comfortable for people with a bit of money, but for poorer young people drugs (drink, heroin, prescription drugs, marijuana &c) becomeo both a way of life and fuel intimidation and violence. Tommy Lee Royce isn't precisely *guilty*, although he's a good depiction of a low-functioning sociopath: one whose every attempt to figure out how and where he went wrong makes things worse. He's not the highly-cultured and effective Hannibal Lecter or the psycho-witb-a-heart Dexter. Nor is he "neurologically wired" for psychopathy but brought up in a "good enough" home (which ends up with a functional human being). He's just off his face any time he's dealing with other humans, so of course he thinks Sgt Cawood violated his mother with a bottle, of course he thinks he's justified in "falling in love" (grooming) an unlucky Scotswoman to "improve" his non-existent relationship with his son. His entire life and relationships with humans have been mediated by both drug use and the drug economy. He can intimidate far beyond his actual reach as an individual human. Police in richer communities where drug use isn't endemic don't find themselves trying to manage high-speed chases on foot. They don't have quite so many vulnerable people on the streets through prostitution and trafficking. The crush between rural idyll and urban disaster, let alone the human cost, means that a superficially rich area many people would love to move to is perpetually over-stretched.
I found the very end quite unrealistic, she pressed her emergency button, everyone in the force races to her location but she just walks down the street with everyone running past her. Only a paramedic asked if she was ok😂

Thank you Queen for another great heads up 🤗
Lisa appeared on steph's packed lunch
"Cos that's what it's like when you're rolling around on the floor in Halifax Town Center" AMEN TO THAT. Another great vid, cheers.
The thing that amazed me the most was how they got the "office banter" very almost Bob on. And I must note I did notice her kit and methods/procedure were also spot on too
Had never watched it until a few weeks ago.
Watched the first episode and wondered where the 'happy' part was?
But instantly hooked, what a programme.
Police local to the Calder Valley area call it happy valley as there's such a big drug problem there. That's how they series got its name
That series..THE BEST....you've answered all the questions I asked about the content love it that you love it as much as we all did xxx but hey ... you never mentioned the superb acting, Sarah is Magnificent .... and That ba...rd Tommy... what an actor !!!!
Ben wouldn’t have looked out of place in Happy Valley. His neck of the woods anyway
My dads partner was an extra in the shows third season and as an ex firearms officer of 25 years she was amazed about the realism. Fantastic show!

Must say I think Line Of Duty had it pretty bang on too!
@benpearson1 you need to get Sarah Lancashire on the podcast/UA-cam! I'm sure she would come on... Hope you are keeping well ❤️💪👍
They lost me with “we’ll get him a bacon butty in the canteen” 🤣
Thanks for feed back on this yesss glad u did one like this especially breaking it down as well from your own perspective and experience

Ah, Walkley's Clog factory. Kept me shod all through the 80s.
Yeah, this was the best cop show I've seen as well, top marks to all involved.
A childhood friend of Sally Wainwright who was a detective was the advisor. Cawood was also loosely based on said friend
Love this video, great insight. Happy Valley is amazing too
I LOVE HAPPY VALLEY !!!!!
Used to love when you were on duty the cracks and the sad times all made good TV 👍🏼👍🏼
Can just imagine Ben pulling someone over now 😃

I loved Happy Valley. Although I did think it was a real shame they killed off Sophie Rundle's character so early on.
Great review Ben, have you also seen Sally Wainwright's earlier series - Scott and Bailey?

Great video, Ben. 👍
I would love to see you review more police dramas such as "The Bay" set in Lancashire
Perfect series bar none. Fantastic acting and storyline.❤
She was advised by an ex WPC who won an award
It’s an ex humberside officer I believe who was the person guiding the police officer role for the series
Think i'm going to have to watch this now. Everyone has raved about it and I've not seen any of it.

The real question is. How accurate was the thin blue line
depends on the division 🤣🤣🤣
Big up the badger... everyone's favourite ex copper (besides Peter Bleksley) 😂👌
Oh, so HV's idea of Plonks wearing flats instead of bowlers is accurate? Huh, that's something I've learned..

lisa farrand was the police advisor for sarah lancashire 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Love happy valley brilliant show love sarah Lancashire
I just want to point out the video is at 999 likes. Fucking brilliant.
One thing I disliked was how they went from the bowlers & custodians in S1 to everyone in the gender neutral flat caps in S2 & S3. Shouldn't have done away with tradition. Keep traditional headwear!
Believe it or not but that is what West Yorkshire Police did with their head wear. Everyone now wears the same flat hats.
@@garethhelliwell9736 Interesting, I wonder why? At least they didn’t do away with them completely and start issuing those mall cop baseball caps some forces give out. Embarrassing.
This is a change which has happened in real life, female officers now have the choice of bowler or flat cap
I've heard some female officers complain about the bowlers have a tendency to fall off easily.
@@mancyank564 As does the custodian, the first mistake they are making is being in a position where their hat can come off 😉

ITS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE REAL! THE CLUE IS IN THE WORD DRAMA!
Please have a review of the bay set in Lancashire

You've got a slight look of Curly Watts!
I found the very end quite unrealistic, she pressed her emergency button, everyone in the force races to her location but she just walks down the street with everyone running past her. Only a paramedic asked if she was ok😂
Ben you should do a the bill video.
😂😂 lasted less than ten seconds before I spat my tea out
you gave the end away and I haven't finished watching yet
Bad luck. Caveat emptor! I scrupulously avoided everything till I'd watched it all.
Ben you are so funny love you videos mate keep it going mate 👍..
Matt ransom loves that show off police interceptors
What do you think about PSNI officer shot in Tyrone?
I just want to ask are the radios they had do they work and are they real.
no they will be props of a kind,
them Airwave radios are very expensive
but good to see then used and not cheap Chinese 2 ways, like some cop shows do
Not a real police radio for obvious reasons but a like for like replica
I would drop a like, but it’s at 999 and, well…
Pity he didn't know how to pronounce Sowerby Bridge properly!
Isn't this "former police interceptor reacts to ......"
G4S 😂😂😂👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽
Coz ur all obsessed with Halifax ya weirdos sorry but u lot know more than ya let on about the truths of happy valley the rumours it’s based on
The ending was boring
Fucking spoiler alert, Ben !
Don't watch tv.
Ben how can I contact you not on i.g? 👊💚
