Great walk through on how to do.
I have an old ms170 which runs fine initially and then after a few minutes starts to run rough. Also I have noticed that quite a long time after it's switched off I can hear a venting noise, as if the petrol tank has been pressurised. Any thoughts? Maybe a good video if you've come across this before?
    cheers

You do a great job on not only walking us through the videos that you create you make videos that relate more to homeowners or do it yourselfers. These videos on the MS 170 series chainsaw are great examples. Keep up the good work, i really enjoy watching your videos they are very thurough.

That is a great video and the information you gave should help many of us who have saws and want to fix them. I have a model MS-250 and don't use it as it is hard to crank and I gave up on it and another saw I have and purchased a battery saw which works great for me. Thanks for much for the information and may God Bless you and your family.

I bought a new MS 170, yesterday, $203, out the door. I am going to replace the chain adjuster. I may replace the bar and chain, later, with an .050 bar and chain. I hate the .043 chains. I also like to lube the sprocket bearing on all new saws with high temp wheel bearing greased. I use regular kitchen pliers tool snaqp the E qcqlip baqcqk in place. I have found these snap it into its slot a lot easier than needle nose pliers, without it going into orbit.

The MS 170 & 180, no matter the furniture only have one adjustment screw, LD for Idle. There is no H & L screw. Default setting on the LD is 2 full turns out from the seated in position (the screw has reverse threads, so left is in and right is out). In short, you can only adjust Idle on these two 1130 saws.

I noticed that you haven't upgraded the bar and chain to the
.050 gauge. I picked up a 170 on sale. My dealer swapped for a .050 14" 50 dl with yellow chain and a an extra chain 1/2 price. Nice as my Stihl 020T top handles saw uses same chain. I prefer the Rapid Micro yellow non safety chain.. Great videos. Thanks, Ed

question i have a poulan wild thing chain saw when trying to start it. It's almost like it has to much compression it's really jerky to start. Can;t see anything wrong with the recoil starter. it just won;t pull freely so you can start it.any suggestions would be appreciated

I am redoing a Poulan 5020? recoil and it uses a second spring to make it easier to start. The smaller spring was mis-shapened I guess from previous owner and it prevented a proper pull. Got new parts, not back together yet.
