Scroll Saw Sander Mod (Basically Free!)

- This is a super easy and basically free way to make a sanding pad for any inexpensive pinned scroll saw. It requires one old scroll saw blade, some carpet tape, and sand paper. That's it. I've found that old belt sanders work very well and add some nice thickness to the sanding pad. Thanks for taking a look.

This is so helpful! Thank you! You don't even need those long strips of sanding paper. The top half gets wasted as it won't ever be used while on the blade. So you only need to put a short piece there where it will make contact with the wood.
Great tutorial. Thank you. I have purchased some sanding blades in the past and they were very expensive for what you get and they didn't last very long before I would have to throw them away. No more thanks to you!
Awesome. Thanks for your comments.
I have been thinking of ways to save myself some money to help sand my projects! Thank you so much! You just don't know how much I appreciate it.
I picked up some really cheap blades that quickly showed me why they were on clearance. I was going to buy some sanding blades, but saw this and already had carpet tape and sandpaper. You just saved me $10-20. Thanks!
Awesome. Thanks for your comments.
Brilliant idea! Thank you so much for sharing this with the rest of us
Great vid! I'm a new woodworker and my scroll sawing is pretty rough. I just made one of these and it worked great. Thanks!
I really like this idea and also I really like the music. You are a killer guitar player my friend. Keep it up!
+Benjamin Pike Many thanks. Glad the mod can help.
You are genius! Thank you so very much for sharing this. I've been wanting to buy the sanding strips for my scrollsaw, but because there isn't any strength to them, if you push too hard, your work will get rounded when you sand. I'm off to find some double sided carpet tape.
Great idea. Was looking for something like this. Thanks.
Awesome idea, I'll definitely be using this to clean up the tabs!
very clever! would have never thought of that!
That is such is neat idea, i've got to try that on my scroll saw!
Super idea. Now I know what to do with my ole used blades, new life. Thanks
Thanks for your comments. It's a useful little hack.
Like it, I made the same only with a piece of plywood behide it and glued it on an old scrollsaw. Worked perfect
+houtjeboom Great suggestion. Thanks!
*This is my second WEN tool and they are both great **MyBest.Tools** I needed to do some trim work around the house and needed a scroll saw for the intricate work. No complaints so far.*
Great Idea, I like it very much. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for your comments.
Just made two and works perfectly!!!thanks
Hi Steven. Awesome! Glad it helped.
Outstanding idea! thanks for sharing
I just use foam nail files of various grits to get into tight spots on curves. You could even adhere sandpaper to a popsicle stick for flat surfaces. ...same idea. 🙃
Hey man that's a great idea thanks for sharing
Thanks alot for this idea. Now my work so much easier😊
fantastic idea, i will try it.
great lights, audio, voice, thanks for mod.
Many thanks.
l saved it
I like the idea it will come in handy, but if you take a chisel and pare off the tabs you'll cut down in the sanding a bunch. Good tip though Thanks
Beautiful!!! Thank you!
Thanks for posting this. I was buying the Olson ones for $10 for 4.
Glad it helped. Thanks for your comments.
fantastic, nice and easy! Thanks
+Rodrigo Utreras I use this sanding mod often. Thanks for your comments.
This just makes me want to buy a belt sander :D
This is good for getting into tight spaces, but for sanding tabs, it would be much easier to use an electric random orbit sander, a palm sander, or a little detail sander. All fairly inexpensive and you don't have to change a blade.
Thanks, I'll try making a couple!
Thanks. It's pretty useful.
Those sanding strips to buy with the plastic tabs do not stay in my Delta scroll saw. This is a great tip and looks like it will benefit me.
Thank you for your comments. It's a useful little mod. Best of luck.
Thumbs Up! Thanks for Sharing! My gears are Turning! Have A Super Week!.....Gus

I keep buying the sanding one's made for the scroll saw at like a dollar fifty each and they don't last very long comma plus they have a good size head on both ends so you can't really get into tight spaces this is absolutely simple but genius why didn't I think of this?
Hi Jeff. Thanks for your comments. It's a pretty useful little sanding mod. Best of luck.
Brilliant
Thanks!
That's smart
Genius! When I think of all the old dull blades I've thrown out, I want to kick myself! What scroll saw is that? Does it work good?
Works great.
Great idea and details. I watched another video and the quality was poor and nothing was explained or described. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks Glenn. Glad it helped. It's a very easy useful mod for sanding in tight spaces. Best of luck.
Like your vids, But next time put your tabs to the outside of the work piece. It will make sanding a lot easier.
Hi Dan. Thanks for your comments. Yep, I try to but sometimes with smaller parts I end up having to put some tabs in areas I don't like. I agree though.
