  • Today we're going to finish building our custom wiper system!
After the adventures last episode, it should come as no surprise that a very special drive system was in order for our new stainless arms ... why didn't we just use a donor system, or at the very least, parts of a donor system? Well, the closest parts I could find were old, expensive and gross... anything newer doesn't play well with the inherit design complications that the GT6 creates.
So we rolled the dice and decided to do what we always do, build it!
This concludes our foray into wipers though, so stay tuned to see what's coming next!
Like you, we can't wait to see this beast on the roads someday, so I hope you'll Subscribe and hit the notification bell so you won't miss that experience with us!

No doubt these guys are clever and they've shown some amazing things, but the car was started closing in on 5 years ago (at least according to the dates on the videos; maybe it's actually done now), very often with several months between videos. That's a long time as a viewer to expect a payoff that still hasn't come. I come back regularly to see if it's done yet, but it feels a bit dragged out.

@@teekay_1 While I understand your time issues with the build please remember that it's just one guy and his dad and they have no mechanical engineering training or manufacturing experience.
They started off with the the most rudimentary hand tools and power tools.
Over time the channel and patreon income has allowed them to acquire some better tools but it's still just one guy and his dad filming.
This is as raw as it gets in regards to 'home built' and seat of the pants design and build.
With all due respect...please cut them a little slack sir.

I'm curious what your plans are for the car when it's complete. Daily-driver? Show-car? Amateur racing? You seem to be paying a lot of attention to practicality and creature-comforts, so I suspect you plan on putting lots of miles on her and using as a main source of transport. Given the short wheelbase, and power-to-weight ratio, I think it would be one helluva auto-cross car.

Fabulous work - the wipers on mine show willing but little else. I do wonder what the completed car will weigh though - the V8 clearly makes that mostly irrelevant but the engineering seems to be more Bentley than Lotus! This is a fantastic journey and I have enjoyed every step.

Thanks very much! Means a lot to have your support! I'm estimating 2400lbs dry, though to be honest I'm not that bothered if it's a bit more ... most of the additional weight is further down and rearward, so the balance will be improved and a little extra heft over the rear tires isn't exactly a bad thing ... with our power to weight ratio! 😅 All the best to ya! 🙏👍

The actually provide more of a mist, than a stream (like the stock sprayers on my Neon did) and are easy to find. I’m glad someone mentioned BOM, got me to thinking about how well Fanatik sits alongside them. In terms of engineering you are a massively underrated channel. I wish you many more followers. I drive a completely original GT6, the purist in me weeps but won over by the standard and learning journey.

      @FanatikBuilds  Місяць тому

That means a great deal to me, thank you Ronaurelius. I especially appreciate your sentiments considering your ownership of a factory GT6... I know we've strayed about as far as possible from the original design, but as you say it's been a wonderful learning experience and I'm extremely grateful to have had the opportunity! All the best to you 👍

I could have mirrored so many of the other comments made here and endorse them all. Massive kudos to you, your channel epitomises everything I feel engineering to be. Couple that with humour and cracking editing then to me it's a winner. I am in the UK and my gt6 is one of the few triumphs that stayed this side of the pond. So happy to see another one reborn, from its condition when you found it you made the right choice!

Impressive fabrication skills young man. It is refreshing to see fabrication done with your mind, skills , and available tools. Not everyone has a full blown cad system, CNC plasma table, CNC milling center, CNC lathe, and on and on with sponsors to boot. I am restoring a Triumph TR3 to original condition. I decided if I was doing this I had to make the parts I needed. Yes it is slow but rewarding. Continued success on your build ! Frank

Great work. One suggestion is where two bends intersect as in the bottom corners of a box you can drill small bend relief holes. They can make making the bends a little easier.

I can see what will happen, you'll complete this beauty, and take her on that maiden cross-country voyage, and you'll get back feeling on top of the world for a few weeks. Then one day you'll wander into the empty workshop and realise you are addicted to the process. Pretty soon you'll be scouring the webs for your next project 🤣
But seriously, your skills have gone off the chart since I first started watching, imagine how "easy" the next one would be. Lessons learnt, mistakes and pitfalls avoided.

Haha, as the channel name suggests, the build is my favourite part, for sure! 😊 I'm not sure if the car will ever be 100% done, but even so, I'll be sad when there's no more brackets to be made. Here's hoping by then, we'll have the space to start the next project... it would be tricky in our current environment! Cheers Jesse, really means a lot to me 🙏✌

Here's a tip for you bud, when welding thin sheet metal with a ninety degree flange, try doing a vertical down it will enable you to do a thinner weld and do it in one pass. And it will not require as much weld give it a bit of practice you'll see what I mean afterwards once you've given it a shot and best of all it will not require as much grinding!

When you and your Dad have completed this build ( if you ever do) then it will be twice as fast, twice as powerful and twice as heavy as an original GT6.
