@Martin James I've seen plenty and been all over but I've never seen anyone clean the inside of an exhaust pipe!
What next putting little booties on the tyres so the tread don't get dirty.

What's art attack
@@behindthen0thing was a kids tv show in Britain during the early 90's to the mid 2000's, where a guy did art projects some small, some massive and called them "art attacks"
I did a minimalist version of this to my car a year ago. About 10 minutes all told maybe 15 if I exaggerate. I’m good now. I’ll leave it to the professionals. Watching this makes me want to do anything else but. The result is great though. Kudos to you.
Sooo shinyyy 😍😍 this was so satisfying I was falling asleep. Can't believe I watched a 14 min video on pure exhaust tip cleaning. :D
I did that in my polo exhaust and i gained 2 hp. Thanks!!!
I can't understand a damn word he's saying but it's EXTREMELY soothing and I would buy a 1000 page long audiobook just to hear this guy's narrating voice.
@Captain Buff The Third That's good to know. Next time I ask for someone's opinion on a UA-cam comment, I'll come straight to you.
You should definitely be given a job narrating on TV, your dry humour is a breathe of fresh air
Looking forward to when you hit a million subscribers
Omg these comments are hilarious but on a serious note I now need some of these bits because the result is amazing

I used to use Mr Muscle foam oven cleaner, on the exhaust of my remapped fr tdi. Got rid of the soot in seconds.😁
You can get small scotchbrite polishing wheels that fit into a dremmel. I find these are great for the inside of the pipes, as not only do they cut through the dirt really well, but they leave a ‘brushed’ finish that looks really amazing. You should give them a go. Super quick as well!
Looks like exhausting work
I did the same on a Mini John Cooper Works a few months back, they were black on the outside, the inside however there was a thick paste of pure black gunk coming out when I started to clean them, I must of spent over an hour cleaning the inside as the gunk literally wouldn't stop oozing out, I also regret not wearing gloves because my hands, especially my finger nails became stained black for a good few days and many scrubs later to no avail, the tailpipes though looked amazing, I didn't use wire wool but I did just one of those wash sponges that has the green abrasive sides, worked fine and didn't leave any scratches, also used wheel wax after to protect, it is just a matter of adding it to your routine wash, wheels and exhaust then the rest of the car to follow, good video, will definitely miss the blue mobile.
This guy is way too thorough good class.... god bless. Wish he lived near me jeez.... guess i could always try doing some of this myself.... he has so much specialized goodies though i always feel a bit overwhelmed and go to the good old car wash... nothing like sitting inside and watching the suds go round seriously...
The end result looks great, it distinguishes a cares for car from a neglected one! x.
I'd buy his car in an instant. Cleanest car on the market!
You set the bar , another quality video gladly received. Unapologetic Brit fan boy 👍🇬🇧
Cheers from Canada, I love watching your videos and have learned so much. I spend a lot of time maintaining my car and your videos definitely help. Keep up the good work!
Autosol is a fantastic polish metal. Love the product and keeping the last box for personal usage only. Because the import from German has been stopped a year ago from my supplier in Indonesia.

- Take a shot every time he says poo shoot.
Perfect timing, I was just looking around for tips to clean my exhaust.
Been using Autosol for years. I always make sure my pipes are nice and shiney! 😂🤣
It really sets the car off. 👍😂
I just cleaned and polished the tips on my 370Z and the finish came out mirror bright, inside and out. My Z burns fuel very efficiently and leaves very little carbon residue in the pipe, so it wasn't that difficult to give the insides a good cleaning and polish. I initially used isopropyl alcohol to clean the pipes and then finished it with Brasso to give it a high shine. My car is all black, so the gleaming stainless steel exhaust tips look very nice in how they contrast with the body color.
What a nice sound this 5-cylinder has!! I’m in love!
Love your car, and all the love you give it! Thanks for all the tips, keep going! Greetings from Costa Rica!
Rather than using wire wool and metal polish I tend to use scotch brite, then there aren’t the metal bits getting stuck to everything. Plus as there are different grades you can choose one to suit your needs... Top Video fella 👏🏻👏🏻
Best detailer I've seen, wished he stayed near me would have no problem paying him to detail my m3.
This 6 step is very well done. On the other hand, EAGLE ONE NEVR - DULL Wadding Polish would do all those steps in one. Yes, it will require a bit of elbow grease but.. it kept my Suby spec B, Lex GS350, Alfa Giulia QV quad tips - clean and never needed a full tip deep clean ever.
been watching your videos for awhile now, but that "Poo-chute TV" line made me subscribe
I did this years ago on my M3 the neighbours thought I was mad

Just a thought, you ever considered doing car cleaning product comparisons?
Project farm does oils and hardware, it’s good watching.
Did a very similar process the other day to a '15 Cayman S. I found taping off the area to be really helpful as I didn't want to contaminate any plastic or paint with metal polish or exhaust soot. It only took a minute and a few pieces of painters tape.
Yep I used wire wool then metal polish on my tips. May get some wheel polish for sealant, and poss try sponge buffer for metal polish too. Thanks for extra stuff shown.
Brasso on chrome works miracles ~ applied with a paper towel which you can toss. I use a drill conical sponge to polish the inside ... lasts a few hours ... but the black returns no matter what, but has i said, Brasso cleans it quite easily and very quickly
Just followed these steps on my exhaust and it worked a treat thanks for the legendary video as always
Love the way he works those holes
From my experience I have found iron wool to be ineffective on stainless tips, first of all it scratches the surface, but does not remove (level) the pitting and metal polish only chemically removes oxidation, but does not physical polishes the surface (most of metal polishes are chemical, not mechanical). My best tool for this work is few steps of fine sandpaper - 1000, 2000, 3000 grit. Then normal paint polish, something not diminishing like Gtechniq P1, this could further be improved by applying metal polish with it or afterwards (for de-oxidation). Luckily for me my tips are removable, so I take them home, soak in alcohol or vinegar, then some strong alkaline cleaner or wheel cleaner, sand them with sandpaper and polish them with DA. If you don't like insides too shine, just sand them and they will remain matte.
Therapeutic as always😎👌🏻
Best product I found for cleaning exhaust is Surf City Killer Chrome Polish. So easy to use & get amazing results, It is a bit pricey but worth it.
I have used Autosol metal polish aswell but nowhere near as good as Surf City Killer Chrome. Autosol is too greasy & harder to apply to get a good result. I only now ever use autosol as backup if I run out of Killer Chrome as it is hard to get hold of in UK.
I know it's just a metal polish but Surf City Killer Chrome polish is that good then anything out there, just read the reviews online.
I highly recommend Car Cleaning Guru to use it, see if its helpful.
What a result
Thanks for sharing the tips for exhaust pipes!!!
3:17 I just watched a guy finger bang his exhaust pipe, surprised UA-cam didn't censor that lol
Michael Lebert did it bring back memories of your dad “washing”you
I used Britemax Metal Twins on my GT86. Worked brilliantly by hand.
I just used Autosol, a Microfibre cloth and some elbow grease on my pipes and I got a shiner like yours. No fannying around inserting drill toys.
A brilliant rarity. Guru you need to upload more videos. Love this channel
Great saying mate never thought of using wheel sealer for the Exhaust tips nice one 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Excellent job sir as always.
i applaud you sir. Looks brand new once again
I’ll look for the product where I’m located. Thanks for the tip 😎
Polish outside yes, inside, no. Not worth the effort. 5 mins down the road it will be sooty again.
Looks way better as he said to be clean on the outside and not inside.
You mean, literally starting up the car and it will be full of carbon again? Mine literally leaves a black spot in the street on every startup
Agree
How do you get rid of the pitting on the end of the pipe though ?
Wire it off and paint in with high temp paint
i just watched a 14min video of a dude cleaning his exhaust tips. this is good stuff
*turns key around* exhaust is as what it was before.👍🏻
Nice job mate! Most folks won’t even buff the outside of em, I’m gonna give it a go
CCG you really need upload more. Life feels incomplete if when you don’t
Sometimes bad weather or even a missed delivery can mean a video is put back a week. I wish it was as easy as just uploading a new video but often there's a million and one things behind the scenes conspiring to prevent you doing so!
Top video as always Guru.
I need to get myself a polishing cone, as you say, having the inner polished is just a bit of a novelty that only suits certain cars.
For polishing the outer areas of exhaust tips ( when access is a problem), I smear some Autosol around the tips, I then feed a medium-sized microfibre in over the tip and grab an end with each hand, pulling down to tension the cloth, and do a fast "milking the cow" technique. whilst gradually moving inwards and outwards along the length of the exhaust tip. Not sure if the description makes sense but someone out there might understand.... it usually works well for me.
*Edit - Just realised that you did this for the sealant!!
Excellent result! I always have a hard time on my Alfa 4C’s tips.... they’re horrible to keep clean 😵
Very interesting vid, didn't expect to use wheel-cleaner for that: Splendid!
Your Voice is so relaxing😂😂
I do exactly the same for the stainless tips on my Porsche, works every time, and the tools are cheap as well
Can’t wait to do this on my car, my exhaust tips are desperate. Thanks for the upload and advice!!
sat watching this and this when it dawned on me, i have a EV so no exhaust, but still stayed to the end!
I really like how these tips came out 😍 I’m not the biggest fan of cleaning the inside of the tips but this is so cool I need to get some new polishing drill bits 😊
Damn! Car Guru, I could eat off that exhaust pipe. Nice work!
Hi... You mentioned you used a different metal polish for the exterior of the tips... Do you mind mentioning what product this was? Or do you have any recommendations? Thanks
I've always sworn by brasso or silvo polish wadding. But I have an FN2 Type R, so it's just a chrome trim, with the actual exhaust tip being buried behind the bumper. Some masking of the paintwork, and a hell of a lot of elbow grease, but it's worth it.........for the five minutes it lasts until black splats fire out of the exhaust again at high revs!
enjoyed this, i made a habbit of cleaning mine, gives the rear of the car a much better look.
OCD Level 100 when you scrub the inside top of your exhaust tips.
With finger action like that, your missus is one lucky lady!
Your cleaning tips are amazing!!
Your job is super!!
I find holding the exhaust tip still with my other hand when using the wire wool inside makes transference of energy into removing the soot/carbon more effective, try it.
Giving it the classic reacharound
Not the most exciting video but hey, it's still a video. Cheers Guru
So pissed. Because of you, I nearly can’t find my car clean anymore. 😤
Frederic B lol that pipe will get dirty with in few km dont worry mate😂
As per closing thoughts I would like to share and point out few things. You should mention wire wool grader, because just like sand paper and chemicals they have different uses. Also before cleaning, you need to know what kind of material exhaust is made of. Stainless and acid proof steel has different hardness and chemical resisatance than chrome and titanium. Many cars have regular end pipe made usually of regular steel. If someone has heat treated titanium, he might mess that finish with polish. I cannot give more details as polishing metals just like paint is wide topic. Carbon build up can be removed with some oven cleaners as burnt food has similar composition. Not sure how it works on titanium and aluminium.
Great video! Apologies if it’s been covered but do the drill polishing attachments clean up ok? Looking on amazon they’re not cheap enough to discard after every job like a Microfibre or pad? Cheers again for a great video.
Foam over cleaner best thing to clean the inside of the exhaust tips works a treat
Love it mate....great commentary :):):) Gonna get me down to the auto shop for some polish & applicators to get me started.
I wonder if there’s anything you can put on them to prevent the carbon from accumulating in the first place? Great video. Thank you.
Oven-cleaner works well on the inside of the "poo chute"...
Wipe off any excess that drips onto the chrome, but works great on carbon !
True, those are meant to clean carbon as food after getting burned becomes one.
You would pick up a honing ball attachment. Typically used for engine cylinder walls but makes quick work on exhaust openings!
DI made this a booming business
How do you approach modern Audi / VW exhausts with thin painted / chrome tips? I've always found that using wire wool effectively removes the top layer and leaves pitting after a while
That was satisfying to watch. Cursing my car for having quad tips now lol
Hi should i clean them once a week or once every two weeks? To keep them clean thanks
Most detailed video on poo pipes I've ever seen
dude your videos are amazing..
I would like to know what you use on the black plastic, honeycomb pattern above the exhaust?
You should try harpic 10X strength for the inside. Ask any biker it works wonders on stainless steel exhausts. It takes a fraction of the time to get rid of the build up. Just remember to apply with a brush only leave for a couple of minutes then agitate with the brush again and rinse You might have to do this a couple of times but.saves on the aching fingers, saves time and no need to use wire wool, then just polish with the foam cone
ps It does work on car exhausts as I have just done my JCW exhaust
Barbeque cleaning gel or oven cleaner works well, just paint it on and leave it, then rinse off. You can also use carbon remover gel.
Another really good vidéo ! I'm using the same process with the wheel cleaner... Finally I'm not so crazy :-) how do You clean then the foam pad used on the drill ?
Thanks from France.
J ai l impression qu il a dit qu il comptait les mettre a la poubelle.
The best part of cleaning your exhaust is that you can fire up the engine, and rev to flush out some excess fluids.
Excellent work! Great tips there.
On my Optima SX (2.0T) with its GDI engine, my polished tailpipes get very sooty in only a couple hours of driving. Not sure its worth the effort but I do it anyway (I feel better about cleaning my car when I do). I've used Brillo scrubbing pads (steel wool with grease cutting soap embedded) and then Chemical Guys light metal polish. Thing is, when I start it up, I get a TON of black sooty wash water out of the pipes that stains the driveway unless I wash it down first and then afterward as well. I'm must be OCD...
Perfection is pure heaven!
