I had my first hip replacement in 2012 at age 48 due to Avascular Necrosis which was brought on by the use of Prednisone, the 2nd Hip was done in 2013, it is now 10 years post op first hip replacement, and it's great, no pain, no discomfort...recovery from surgery, although a full year went smoothly

Tremendous Presentation. I had bi-lateral THP in 2014 at 54 years of age. Apparently my sockets congenetially defective (lip was malformed)--I'm a trialthetle, so although fit, over the years, my activity grinded hips to bone-on-bone--bone shaving off into soft tissue--had them done 7 weeks apart---sharp backed quickly--best to be fit when going into surgery

Had surgery on 11/22/22 everything went excellent. Walking 2 hrs after surgery, but was on lots of pain medication the first day.
11/24 no pain when walking first time in 6 months. But lots of muscle stiffness. Thighs feel like it was hit with a baseball bat. Only taking Tylenol no narcotics for pain. Sleeping on back but no pain during night. Feeling much better then I thought, I would and looking forward to getting out and walking

I was instructed not to use any anti-inflammatory medication 30 days post op. Ice and UA-cam relaxation talks work effectively along side opioids (reduces the need of increased doses). Calm the mind, calm the body. A post op recovery nurse taught me that.

Most videos do not cover what to do with protrusio acetabuli cases. I am an active 41 year old athlete with EDS who can still run, do deep lunges, 20" box step ups with dumbbells etc. However, I have limited ROM (abduction and external rotation) causing discomfort in SI joint, hip, and groin. It just feels like something is "out of place" but not very painful. Sometimes, my pain and discomfort are relieved if I manually click my hip. Most people tell me not to do the surgery as it should be the last resort but I feel my biomechanics are causing other issues like with SIJ. I am considering THA so I can go back to doing all the things I love.

Hey Mike! I see you had THR about 9 months ago. I hope you have regained mobility and are largely pain free by now. While THR recovery takes a full year, it is the deep healing that is still happening. I found that as I entered the second year I gained stamina over those months. How are you doing by now?

14 days out from my THR - had the other side done 4 months ago. Starting to realize what it’s like to not be in pain. Doctor spoke of pain before THR in peaks and valleys-I feel like I’ve experienced this kind of pain for decades. I’m able to sleep now, sit in the car, at a desk…I’m so excited to be able to go for a walk. Haven’t felt this good in decades and I’m saying that from my easy chair, hip packed in ice, looking forward to my 2-week follow up appointment tomorrow. All is great!

Thankyou for the presentation, I’m 7 days post posterior left hip replacement. But I’m very different I think. At 5-6-7 yr old I was miss diagnosed for growing pains, but I had perthese disease, at 7&8 underwent 2 operations to pin my damaged and crumbled hip into place which failed, leaving me with a very deformed hip, fast forward to 37 where it degraded further leaving me very incapable, pain etc etc, 5 yrs of cortisone injections, to where on the 12-12-2019 I was told I can finally have my replacement, and then after an understandable wait due to covid, I am now 7 days after my operation 🥲🙏🏼👌🦵🏽, and this is 36 Christmas and birthday wishes come true. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

@@wesdavies2455 main reason I have put it off. Is I was sick from heart disease. Heart Doctor's didn't think it was wise to have elective surgery. But I have since had a heart transplant 5 years ago. So revisited a hip surgeon. Now I have to get approval from the transplant team. I'm so limited in my movement and comfort. So hoping I can get it done safely. Glad you are doing well.

hi i am 23 and have legg calve perthes, i have slowly worseing pain in my left hip. when I was diagnose with the condition I was told I would need a hip replacement around 40-50. But I chose to get in to construction witch has put a lot of pressure on my hip. I feel I will need to get a replacement by the age of 25 but I am concerned that I won't be able to go back to work? Also what procedure would be the best for some one my age that still wants to be active?

question-is there an approach that makes long term potential for dislocation less than another, or all things equal given enough time to heal properly? I'm due for THR and want to get back to surfing, which is supremely dynamic.
