- The NEW Shelby GT500 SE is the first time Shelby American has worked their muscle car magic on the current platform GT500. The Signature Edition has many special touches to separate it from the rest of the GT500s. On the outside you will find a full carbon fiber hood, forged wheels, and complete widebody. On the inside you will find a full custom interior with color matched roll bar and leather Recaros. Under the hood the 5.2L supercharged V8 now puts out over 800HP and is mated to the fast shifting 7-speed DCT gearbox. Is the 2021 Shelby GT500 SE Widebody the BEST muscle car Mustang to buy?

Yeah the dodge looks like crap. This is aftermarket, but looks great. Loose the extra vents on the hood. Garbage looking. Love the color and pattern on the seats. Ford should take notes. The standard white with recaros is not cool. Just like the blue recaros on the raptor. Give us a choice of black recaros please.

First of all, congrats on 500K Second - absolutely love the SE Widebody. In my opinion though, it could use the front splitter wickers... wish they kept the rocker panels as well! Other than that, it's pretty close to perfection. Those 345's are menacing

The Mustang was almost a Cougar! In August 1962 when Ford executives were reviewing the twelve styling proposals for what would become the Mustang they gave each a different name. Ford favored dropping the Cougar name, replacing it with "Mustang". The Mustang was almost a Cougar!
Carroll Shelby is a legend in the world of racing and most people remember him for three cars.
The Shelby Cobra was built to be a Vette killer, the GT40 was built to be a Ferrari killer and the Shelby Mustang was built to be a Cuda and Camaro killer.
Shelby succeeded at all three tasks but few people realize he had a connection with the ’68 Cougars.
Mercury only sold 619 of these Shelby-ized Cougars so that explains why they’re not on the radar with most car guys.
Most Shelby vehicles have amped up performance and the XR7G was no exception. Wayne’s is a 390 2V cubic inch and that makes his Cougar one of 62 with that combination. The key to this car is its subtlety because you really have to look close to the see the Shelby touch on this car.
The refinements are clear because the interior is already at an XR7 level and Shelby added little things like a console exclusive to the XR7G, a gold XR7G badge on the dash, a special XR7G steering wheel and a special shift knob.
This Cougar XR7G speaks performance and style because the XR7 as a base model was a classic ride back in ’68 but the Carroll Shelby touch makes it a show stopper at any Ford meet.

OMG when you think it cannot get any better. I have three small ZONKS with the car. 1) I wish they put the GT500 on the front in orange 2) the door flash would have been better in orange and change it from the white flash to match the seats. 3) I DO NOT OWN IT AND NEVER A CHANCE TO OWN IT.
