    Saw em opening for jinjer in 2021. They played dying life and it was interesting..I saw em for the third time on chaos and carnage recently and I bought a cd of this. I personally like it a bit better than the other stuff after the black crown. I think if Eddie tried to practice his vocals so they don't sound too...nasaly and they wrote songs that sounded like the Cleansing and no time to bleed era it will be better. I'd love to hear more 90's gritty production with that too

    I listened to both Periphery's new album and Suicide Silence's new album at midnight before falling asleep, both albums were unique in their own way. I fell off the Suicide Silence train when Mitch left us (R.I.P.) I checked out new SS throughout the years, but never really cared, but this album made me sort of appreciate SS a little bit more than their previous albums after The Black Crown..
    PERIPHERY 5 on the other hand was pretty decent. As a Periphery fan since their very beginning with the first album in 2010 I thought this album felt really nostalgic in some ways..

    I remember a comment someone made about that Stone Temple Pilots album in 2018(?): "This album shows Scott Weiland's drug issues weren't the only problem with STP." People like to put the blame squarely on Eddie with the "teehee" album, but I think as time goes on it's showing more that Mitch was the one that could focus the group. Idk, I think I'll pass on this one.

    Hot take: the classic metalcore/deathcore bands were beaten at their own game a long time ago. As far as I’m concerned, none of the big names from the 00s can even sniff Shadow of Intent’s or Callous Daoboys’s or Rolo Tomassi’s jockstraps.

    I think that I've made a mistake by listening the whole Signs Of The Swarm discography just a few days before this record. When you still have so much more brutal kind of deathcore on your mind, then this sounds so weak 😅

    I was confused as to why they named the album what they did when it's so similar to the album title the obviously superior Polyphia used prior. I wish I liked SS more cuz of how amazing Chris Garzas podcast is and how cool he is in general and some of the bands he's introduced to me through the podcast haha. But the cleansing is the only album I got into. I'm just not much of a nu metal guy either.

      @@themetalmeltdownofficial Actually I say "You Can't Stop Me" was the best with Eddie then "Hunter/ this one". That album gets slept on when it was punishing like SS is but just with Ed at the helm. Also while I dig "Cleansing" its a bit overrated the albums that preceded it started to open up more in terms of showing different things rather beating the same sound to death. In any case we can agree to disagree but whatever we like crank it loud and let the metal play!!

    • @Rusty90
      @Rusty90 Рік тому +2

      Unfortunately it don’t cut it these days, and I disagree , prob cuz I’m old. But I think more ppl would like it if the band name wasn’t suicide silence and if they didn’t compare it to old suicide silence. Do you agree with that at all? Also, I think so many deathcore bands are doing so much these days, (not a bad thing) you can call anything that sounds like normal deathcore, vanilla. The genre almost needs exactly this, old school, or else it’s all going to sound like Lorna shore.

    • @Absaek
      @Absaek Рік тому +1

      @@Rusty90 There are newer bands who are doing more old school sounding shit but they manage to keep it fresh somehow. Look at Angelmaker, Bodysnatcher and Spite. Angelmaker's Sanctum was actually my favorite deathcore release last year, and overall second only behind Venom Prison's Erebos. Bodysnatcher and Spite were around top 10 as well. And even old school bands like The Acacia Strain are still managing to keep things interesting.

    I’m prob wrong but I don’t think Eddy wanted to or just couldn’t, make an album that sounded like Mitch was still there. And with how gate keepy ppl like you are, you expect a band to sound exactly how they use to sound with their old lead singer. It’s not the same singer, it won’t sound the same. I think Eddy would have a huge following and get more respect with how good of a singer he really is if he stayed with all shall perish or made a different band that didn’t have the title of suicide silence. I’m hoping alot of this album that just came out, the lyrics are taking about that. Like the beginning of capable of violence.

    • @themetalmeltdownofficial
      @themetalmeltdownofficial  Рік тому +2

      Definitely not a gatekeeper bud - I don't expect Suicide Silence to sound the same as they did 15 years ago, even if Mitch were still around at a certain point age just makes that impossible, I just expect some good tunes and I don't feel this album delivered that.

  • @FaustianSpirit1997
    @FaustianSpirit1997 Рік тому +5

    Now this, this is definitely an album.
    The riffs and breakdowns are there.
    Solos were recorded.
    Instruments were played.
    Vocals were sang.
    Lyrics were written.
    And it was produced.
    In conclusion, Suicide Silence is one of the bands ever and of all the albums released in 2023, this is one of them.

    Honestly for me The Cleansing was the only good album by them ever. It had everything you could want and after that don’t know what happened they progressively got slower and slower to the point you couldn’t even call them deathcore. Which is very sad. Started with a bang and fizzled out quick and just kept plummeting. And because the first was so great it kept stringing people along for years but if people haven’t realized by now Suicide Silence died along time ago with Mitch r.i.p. he’d roll over in his grave if he heard what his band has done since!!!!!!!
