#1 Plan for the wheather. Yes, 4 degrees C in Coimbra, and we had 42 C in summer. I started 2023 with Funchal´s fireworks. I fell deeply in love with Madeira in 9 days in Santa Cruz. Right, My first night was in a 500 m. height, cold in winter. No return, no way out, it´s heaven on earth! 🙂
Yeah a lot of people think Madeira is “the land of eternal spring” but it gets cold too lol :)) glad you enjoyed it buddy!! Stick around, lots of good stuff coming :))
My father was born in Ponta Delgada, Madeira in 1915 and his family goes back from his parents eight generations all from Madeira. We visited Madeira in 2001 and it is not only a beautiful place, but the people are amazing.
Great Video! I’m planning my trip for February or March and do not want to rent a car. Traveling alone so it would be nice to hitch a ride on some tours as I want to see the whole island.

Hi Debee sorry for the delay I was on vacation 😎 Yes the weather in Autumn is similar to the spring. For hiking, bring layers and waterproofs and be very careful, right now there’s a lot of warnings because of some fires we had. In the mountains it can get cold and of course you can swim but also with the necessary safety ;) There’s is a blog post on the description of the video where I write more in depth, with temperatures, etc … Hope this helps!! I am coming to Maderia in 2024 and my primary interest is paragliding, so who to contact for information on where to take off and safety issues. As I will be travelling on my own the best way to get back to my car after each flight?
I would suggest contacting a specialist in that area, there is a man by the name of Hartmut in Arco da Calheta or Madeira Wings, which I believe is the name of the company I have worked with in the past. With regards to getting back to your car, taxi?
I am planning to travel to Madeira in 2024 but I am not very keen on flying and would like to avoid it if possible. I can't find a definitive answer wether there is a ferry connecting Maderia to the Portuguese mainland. Perhaps you can tell me more about that?
I don’t have a definite answer to be honest, as far as I know, there is no ferry, don’t see one coming anytime soon but I may be misinformed, sorry buddy

A MADEIRA, TERRA DOS CALHAUS! 😅 Eu à calheta, aquela praia com a baia, estava maré baixa, eu andei sem exagerar uns 40mts ou mais, ainda tinha até água até à cintura. Pensei para mim, já deve ser suficiente para dar um mergulho. Pessoal eu ia dando uma cornada nos calhaus! Bati com o pé e a anca em qualquer lado, fiquei todo lixado! 😂 Pronto fiquei a perceber que é melhor tomar banho naqueles pontões que há em quase todo o lado. O hotel tinha um, foi muito fixe. A água do mar na Madeira tem tanto sal, não precisas de fazer nada para boiar.
Verdade! Não ah nada como a nossa água André 🏆 eu pessoalmente não tenho stresses com os calhaus mas sim, melhor entrar na água nakeles pontões como disseste 😂
