- This is the first four players multiplayer test that the Monster Hunter Tri private server does. Thanks to InusualZ and Ze SpyRo for choosing me to test this closed beta server and to record it. It is an honor to be part of the first steps of the resurrection of the MH3 online.
Notes:
The server has still some disconnection problems related to some bugs.
We did two runs, the first is a Royal Ludroth in the flooded forest and went without any problems. The second was the event Jhen Mohran that was activated for testing it. It worked fine too (Ignore that we lose).
The hunters in the video are the admin and dev InusualZ (Adam), the dev Ze SpyRo and the other beta tester 6thQuill (Jack).

Now THIS is peak monster hunter community behavior right here: trying to completely revive not only the hub, but also most of the online functionality of a game that cancelled it years ago. Actually pretty excited to see if I can play this, might even try to convince my friends to finally play with me lol.
God, looking at this makes me feel like I'm 12 years old again. It was around 10 years ago when I started playing these games and this was where it all started.
Soon you will be able to revive the old times!

Literally same. I’ve been playing since 5th grade. I’m 20 now, and I still look back on my experiences with Tri, Freedom Unite, and 4U extremely fondly

Absolutely incredible. Watching now as a 24 year old and realising what a massive impact this game had on my childhood, especially my social communication skills. So much has happened in between then and now but the chance to play it again honestly gives me excitement I haven't felt since those long lost days. Everything gives me little hits of nostalgia; the sound of the quest board opening, the yellow megaphone at the top when you've missed a text chat and of course the sound of a new text chat itself. I've just had to explain to my wife why I'm suddenly so giddy, explaining how much this game meant and still means to me. Well done to everyone involved. I literally cannot wait to see this grow and develop further :)
Hands down the best monster hunter in the series.
Tri was my introduction to the series, and I was absolutely devistated that swimming never made a return. The best of luck to all of you.
You can still come back to it when the server will be released.
It was supposedly going to be in World, but they didn't have enough time to implement it. Fingers crossed for World 2.
Same here man... I miss the underwater hunts so much..
i love mh3u but frankly swimming was easly the worst part of it.
It will definitely come back the only reason it was cut from world was due to time constraints. Trust me mh6 will definitely have underwater combat.

That's like a dream come true. I remember when the servers were still online how I just made it to high rank, getting bodied by a simple Jaggi quest and having to go to bed because of school the next day. When I turned it back on and tried to return, well, the servers were shut down. I pray that this project goes along smoothly and will soon be ready for public players.

This is the old MH experience that we all loved. Coming from someone that started at the first one on the ps2 I gotta say MH has kinda lost that feel it used to have. They've made them so much easier to control and graphically appealing but the old hubs, difficulty of normal quests, the crafting system that didn't hold your hand, and the overall large number of monsters from some of them was just so much better
@@rappytap it is now an old and retired great jaggi, living in the damp caves of the deserted island. suddenly it hears the unsheath of a weapon.
Wow I'm impressed. I left the community because I'm not so much into MH anymore but I still follow the work that was made and I'm genuinely happy when I get to see the passion and the work that were put into this project. This game is my favorite MH.
Edit : Oh you know what ? I'll join again because I want to play it again. Never enough of tri.

Yeah and the textures of MH3 are the bests in the 3rd gen in my opinion. The feel more realistic than in P3rd and that in 3U.
@@Jurther Agreed. You can tell that the textures of Tri were made exclusively for TV resolution, whereas P3rd was PSP only and Tri U had to be able to work on TV and 3DS.
I mean, I loved that you could switch between 3DS and WiiU, but the textures suffered as a result.
@@gaolbreak1090 yeah and not only that, the 3U color pallete is a lot brighter and colorful with makes it feel a bit weird. In general the 3DS games have that problem.

Ive already completed all the Village Quest earlier this year just to be prepared for the multiplayer when it's all finished.
I didn't follow the progress as much in the last 4 months but I am thrilled to see this closed Beta test.

Monster hunter fanbase/community are unbelievably amazing, you guys keeps reviving not just the game itself but the servers/hub and online functionality too. Also Mhfz is working really well with its fanmade servers, those gigachad programmers that is so persistent to revive the nostalgic games for everyone to play again. Big thanks!
Don't forget about the MH Oldschool servers, those are the first ones in revive a MH old online with MH1 and MHG of the PS2.
Best part was when he missed like 4 full charges in a row 😆

Remember gs mains for each miss your chance to hit is raised by about half a percentage you will get them eventually.
Tri (on the Wii) was actually the first Monster Hunter game I got my hands on thanks to a demo disk, and I was immediately turned off of it due to the demo's just TERRIBLE lack of tutorials. Finally picked the series up with 4U years later, and since then I regretted not hanging on to the disc so I could give Tri another shot -- with this, I definitely will try it again, if nothing else for the Bowgun mechanics.
Yeah the bowgun system of tri is worth! Also the dark system of the caves, the day-night cycle and of course the great city of Loc Lac!
I used to like the online experience better when there was no join request. It made you need to stick and interact with whoever was in your lobby. It transmitted the player's personality through the hunter. It made making friends in-game a lot easier. Just... good times.

Alas it was a matter of time for matchmaking like that to arrive. With World's attempt and success to push into a wide audience. Matchmaking needed to be implemented to not appear old beside other online games and for its ease of use for broader masses.
I still try communcating with stickers during quests. And more often then not there are at least a few responses. Nothing beats some of the stupid conversasions I had in other titles though.
Man, oh man. Hearing this music gives me goosebumps! I am crying because of the nostalgia. Feels good to be 12 again.
NO WAY THIS IS REAL LIFE. I have sunk over 2k hours in tri alone. my still favorite mh for its time, an undeniable goliath that propelled the series into what it is today. I would love to just one more time solo alatreon in my helios set with jho hammer.

you speak from my heart. Back when Mh Tri was around I was only starting out though and didn't have a lan connection to my Wii and an incompatible W-Lan Router. used to take my Wii to my buddy and we grinded online there. Then when MH3U came out I startet my journey to actually improve myself more and be able to solo all content. Grongigas Hammer will always be in my heart. Also Adrenaline HBG sets to bring Ceadeus down to 1hp before its fight even begins.
@@gosucab944 some of the most iconic monsters first appeared in tri, lagiacrus, cedeaus,barioth,agnaktor, alatreon, and deviljho, and look at them today all this time later, what a wild ride it has been. i was the same way with my nephew we once in a spring break put 300 hours on his character on the wii, those were some good times. cant wait to relive the fun once again!
This was my first MH game. I'll never forget any of the memories spent learning to put a G Jaggi down in a minute, and to be able to solo all Deviljhos.

@@martinalbarracin6960 El tri es MH3, la tercera entrega de la saga principal de MH para la wii lanzado en 2009. MH generations es un juego de celebración lanzado en 2015 para la nintendo 3DS. Si quieres jugarlo en PC deberás descargar el emulador citra.

So cool, and there is still elements to learn from this game compared to the newest ones. The sound design when you're inside the boat builds so much tension, the facts that the Jhen Mohran influences Loc Lac's weather by simply BEING ! Damn.
More like the weather means that the Jhen Mohran was comming. Also MH3 has day-night cycle.

you're home from middle school, sitting in front of your Wii, logging into Loc Lac, hitting up some friends you made inside the game and go grinding
There is always that one Hunter with default Hunter armor and Jawblade Greatsword, in the cinematics. First G/Freedom then Tri.
Oh yeah you can see a bunch of classics armors in the cinematics. There is even the bone armor of MH2 in the Loc Lac intro. 2:10

Bro these are the monster hunter days I miss, joining lobbies to kill certain monsters and fighting it like 10 times for stupid parts and making friends along the way that I’d play with later. This games online really focused on the social part I feel like and I loved that so much. New monster hunter games just feel so empty and nobody ever talks.

HAHA! now I feel old thank you guys, it's incredible to see that someone managed to open a server and recover pretty much all functions. I met my best friends at this game like 10+ years ago, nowadays we still playing on MH rise and MH world remembering those good ol' days.

Now I need this everywhere! Tri has been my first ever real MH but it closed down only after I finished the story for it to tell me: you need onto grind in multiplayer to HR56 to upgrade your SwagAxe.

Damn, the nostalgia hits hard (not as hard as the time I saw the info about the servers being closed back in the day tho).
Yeah I remember wanting some other game (maybe mario galaxy 2 or sth), but then I watched an ad on tv for monster hunter tri and immediately told my dad that I wanted that game instead. what an amazing experience.

I liked Tri, but 3 Ultimate is where its at because they finally let you use bows in the water. Underwater bow is soooo good. That said this project is really cool. Nice to see preservation like this.
Well yes but in tri you have the cool bowgun system with the exclusive bowgun type, the medium bowgun.

Si, funciona la version europea y estadounidense. Creo que la japonesa es la unica que no es compatible con las otras aunque no lo se al 100%.

Justo hace unos meses hice backup de mi save original de tri para saber hasta donde habia llegado, ahora con el server podre ver mi progreso online :D
Noooo recuerdo cuando tuve mi wii junto con este juego, cuando quise jugar online el servidor había cerrado exactamente un mes después de darme cuenta que existía el modo online

This is fantastic to see and learn about. I loved 3u but never got to play 3. I'm hoping this maybe eventually gets a 3u update, but either way this will be a great way to tri 3 with others!!
Tri is good as it is. I recommend you to try it anyway. About modding the devs already thought about it so who knows what can happen.
I'm ready to get into again, i started all over a new character in Village mode. 80 hours and it's still a great time, you're the best guys !

I'm about to cry because I can see the online video of MH3 in FHD, which I thought I would never see again.
My head cannon was that the final Jhen on the last day was so strong that it destroyed Loc Lac. Which is why in 3U we had the port. After all these years it’s great to see it coming back to life. Rebuilt so to speak.
We had the port because the 3U was released in a portable console and that condened Loc Lac.
I'm going to do my part by sharing these gem with my friends.
Super excited to experience this, 3U was my first game but Loc Lac and other bits of Tri are just so much more captivating to me. Can't wait to join people in taking down Jhen loll!

I started this series when I was just 5 years old with Freedom 1.... I played the hell out of Tri's online from the ages of 10 to 12.... loved every minute of it. Now I sit here 22 years old watching a dream come true! We have MH1, MH1G, MH2 online back... all that's missing is....
MH2 has no online yet... But it will have eventually!

I just went back to 2012..... so many memories thanks a lot this means a lot for me and many people... I hope you can really make this true for everyone..... this days many people are playing Frontier so if that was posible this one will posible too.

Que grandes recuerdos. La primera vez que mate a un Ludroth fue con la lanza y únicamente atacando con el lanzazo mientras me escudaba. Me demoré 48 minutos 🤣. Eventualmente conseguí todo el set de Alatreon con la lanza de Barioth y la armadura de Rathalos, solo jugaba lanza porque me daban miedo los monstruos y necesitaba el escudo. Vendí mi Wii hace como 10 años pero daría todo por ver mi personaje.
La lanza es muy buen arma. Ademas es de las pocas que en combate acuatico es divertida.
Broo this is sick! I'm a fiver so I barely played any Tri myself but heard only good things about it, it would be awesome to be able to try it online :D

Dude, this is amazing to see! I started playing MH with MH3U, and my gf (who started with Rise) and I have been going backwards through the games so she can play them all too (currently on Generations). I would love to be able to play MH3 with her again someday...
Well someday will be very soon! The server is in advanced developing phase so it wont take a lot of time for a open beta!
I really hope in a future Monster Hunter game we will get to see Loc Lac again but until then I'll have to settle with having Loc Lac Ore in current games. 😭

Esto es algo que no esperaba ver pero saber que hay personas tratando de revivir los inicios de MH en nintendo da gusto espero que la comunidad reviva con esto aunque creo que necesitare una pc nueva para esto
Dolphin es un emulador poco exigente, te recomiendo probarlo. De todas formas si tienes una Wii podras jugar en el servidor tambien.
Ayo where do i sign in 😂 this brings back some memories, Tri was my 1st Monster hunter game and i got it 1 month after the servers were shutdown so i never experienced multiplayer in Tri, I NEVER EXPERIENCED LOC LAC... keep up the good work, i wanna give it a try in the future :D

Well I have nothing to be with the server resurrection project. I just tested the closed beta because InusualZ invited me and I recorded the experience.

It is going to be public but I recommend you to join the official discord so you can be informed about the release and there you have tutorials and the things needed to set up the server!
Tri was on another level, especially being the first big launch for the series in the US. I could finally play with other people and not solo everything.
Capcom shouldn't have shut down the servers because there was literally NO way to play guild quests since it was all online. Such a dumb decision
Well MHFU was a popular launch in the west too.
@@Jurther not really. Yeah there's people that play but it was definitely not as popular as Tri. I got the game with my brother just to try it out and we played together, but no one else knew what the game was. I soloed MHFU because I didn't have anyone else around to play with.
Tri was the first monster hunter I ever played, and I was sadly too late to ever be able to play online... seeing this is a magical feeling.
Never is late! You can try it when the server will be public!
This was my least favorite game in the series but I'm glad you all are trying to resurrect the online for its fans. Good luck!
