I didn't film placing pins into the brustfleck (the gold piece worn across the chest). I recommend pinning it for regular wear, just where it goes on the dress, as it stays in place best that way, while you move about your day! It seems I couldn't be bothered to remember all the details while I was focusing on my new video "skills"!

Oh gosh you’re adorable! And wow that kirtle; I love it! Anne of Cleves is on my “ridiculous someday” sewing list.
Aw thank you so much! I'm sure you are going to look absolutely amazing in your someday dress!!
That's how the skirt closes! And the partlet! And no stays. So cool!!
just love this whole ensemble. Gorgeous! And you look rather like Anne of Cleves.
Thank you so much!!
You look quite like Anne of Cleaves!
Thank you so much!! Perhaps we have some heritage of similar regions. ;)
She looks *nothing* like either the descriptions of her nor the Holbein portrait.
@@PhyllisGlassup2TheBrim - I think she does.
Anne of Kleves was my 13th great aunt!
Wow that is super cool! How awesome!!
The whole outfit is stunning, but I adore the hat
Thank you so much!!
I´m from Germany. I adore Anna von Kleve (as she is known here). Big fan of your research and creation!
Your comment was funny "Henry the VIII [...] he was pretty famous..." LOL, if someone does not know Henry VIII, then they are missing out on some serious historical drama, like heads rolling, best friends and wives executed, the country changing religion completely. It´s like Game of Thrones, people!
Thank you so much, and OMG it totally is! I love watching historical documentaries while I work, they're so full of good stories! I totally forgot I'd said that lol now I'm laughing too!
It’s actually even worse than GOT lol so many beheaded queens and wives and that’s only of what we know
That's a really elegant outfit - much more so than the styles of dress worn in the English court at the same time.
Love the colour matching hair in the end too ! The detailing of fabrics , ornamentations though , wow , looks completely different from the close ups !
Fun! Do you plan to make a sew with me or tutorial for the kirtle or overgown? I love the colors you chose. And the beadwork on the hat made me happy.
Aww thank you so much! That hat was super fun! I didn't film when I made this (it was actually before I started filming any of my projects!), but my next video is actually a sew with me for a similar type of kirtle (both are the pattern in my PDF tutorial), with some extra fantasy elements added. My sewing photos for this one are also uploaded to Patreon.
Gorgeous work! I feel like I need to make myself a kirtle so I can frolic around outside like you.
Yay!!! It is so much fun to frolic around outside in a kirtle! :)
What a beautiful outfit, amazing work! I love Anne of Cleves, she is my favorite of "the wives". :)
Thank you so much! I've always been an Anne of Cleves fan too! (It helps that they have the BEST clothing there! 😉)
One of my very favorites of all your costumes!
I can recommend using pins to pin the chestcloth(brustfleck in german) to your kirtle or only onto your outer gown, it sits more secure that way. I never stabbed myself with the pins and they stayed put in movement.
@UClk-6nPG_jfXDPfScCstjHA ah cool. Was just a tip, not really a critique ;) You covered a lot of information.
Oh nooo I always pin the brustfleck! (The piece under the kirtle stays in place though.) I actually had to watch the video again to realize I didn't show that. I went ahead and edited the description to include a note on that, so that no one will be mislead.
Aww well thank you for noticing. I don't want anyone to feel sad if they are learning and then their own brustfleck won't stay put! (I know I've been there!) Speaking of stabbing, having pins on the outside of your dress can also be nice, if one doesn't want creepy men to approach. I mean...I don't know who would ever do that... ;p
@@DaisyViktoria hahah yes good idea.
That was a very beautiful gown. And you're so so sweet. Your enthusiasm and smile are infectious 💐
Aww thank you so much! One of my greatest joys is infecting those around me with enthusiasm, so that really means a lot, and I am glad you found enjoyment!
@@DaisyViktoria i did, and still do, enjoy your content very much. I love history and anything historical, I learned a lot of historical trivia concerning clothes and daily activities from your videos.
I can tell how excited and happy you are about this costume. And seeing how happy and pleased you are just made me smile the whole time watching this. I’m looking forward to the day I’ll be able too design my own costumes. (I’ve just started learning to sew) thank you for inspiring me
A very sumptuous outfit, well chosen and done! Gorgeous!
Thank you so much! It was very fun to research this look and create it!
This is so beautiful! I also just wanted to say your excitement for the clothing and history is so evident and it’s so cool to watch people be excited about things I love too ☺️
Thank you so much!! And awww I think this is super fun, and I love sharing the excitement! That can even be just as fun as sharing the clothes themselves. 🌹
This is such a STUNNING outfit ! Just woah !
Thank you so much!!
Absolutely Gorgeous! Every part and aspect, but I can see why you're so fond of the hat. It's fabulous, and really suits you, and the rest of the ensemble, of course. :) Thank you for sharing this beautiful creation with us. I really enjoyed. :)
Thank you so much!! The hat is certainly dear to me, as is the entire gown. I am so glad you enjoyed it! :)
Wow! This was so informative and entertaining! Thank you for all your effort!
wow! what a beautiful and amazing job you did in making this dress.
Thank you so much! I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
I'm obsessed!! I love it so much!!!!!
Thank you so much!! I'm so glad you like it!
The fact that you made that hat......I´m baffled, just wow!
Aw thank you so much! It was definitely a fun project!
So beautiful - such a pleasure to watch you dressing up though some servants might come in handy. Being from the Cologne region myself I cannot help falling in love. Today this style doesn't look that rediciulous any longer, does it. You two are a perfect couple.
Well done, my dear,
This is incredible! It must have taken you ages to complete. Love it!
Thank you so much! It was a labor of love for sure, and many hours went into it!
Love you so much 🌈🌅💗💚🤎 I Just finished reading Anna of Kleve by Alison Weir.
God bless you ♥️🌺🤍💜🇮🇹🤍🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹💛🥰🥰🌹🦃🦃🥰🥰
Thank you so much! This style is do beautiful! I haven't read that one, I'll have to look out for it!
Anne Of Cleves’ Holbein portrait gown is on my list and I plan to make two versions of it. One as a regular gown and one as a tearaway reveal costume since I will be doing Anne Of Cleves from Six and Im gonna use that as a reveal into a concert outfit.
Wie Schön, ganz Hübsch!
In my best attempt at German: Dankeschön!
Lovely garb! Wow, gorgeous! Looks like it would be wonderful for winter with all that silk.
Did Anne of Cleves not wear a farthingale? And do you wear some sort of petticoat under the main kirtle skirt?
Thank you so much! I showed everything I'm wearing here in the video, including the under dress. Farthingales aren't attributed to this region and style.
I love the belt, that could so easily be worn with a modern dress, where did you get it?
Thank you! I made it myself. I do take commissions. You can email daisy@daisyviktoria.com and I'd be happy to make you one.
You up said that I tricked ya because I I didn’t look like my profile picture. I had too sorry
Too bad I don't agreee
wow
I would love to get my hands of anne of cleves type hood and dress beautiful.
This is stunning! Do you have an idea where I could track down that purplish red taffeta? It’s perfect for a project I’m working on.
So the outfit with just the kirtle would have been worn at home? More like an at home dress, and then if they needed to go out, to a be seen in court or going to make calls or whatever, is when they would actually put on the gown and fancy headdress?
Yeah pretty much!
all the pieces are amazing. the fabric of the kirtle is so beautiful - do you remember where you bought it from?
That overdress is gorgeous! Would it be used like a coat/jacket? It looks very warm.
Thank you so much! It's kind of a coat/jacket idea - in that time, we see a lot of very warm outer gowns which really are kind of the idea we have for coats now. You could layer appropriately for the weather or your activities. Ye olde coat-dress...!
I want that hood lol
What keeps the front like stomached pieces in place when you move around?
Depending on the dress and the movement, sometimes it will actually just stay put behind very tight lacing! You can also pin it in place to the dress, which is quite historical. Sometimes I've used hook and eye or little loops I can tie ribbons through, if I don't want to pin and want to make sure it stays super well in place.
Where do you source your hats from? Or do you make them yourself? I have a similar question about the Dutch Cheese Lady (TM) cap.
I make them myself! If you want to commission something, you can send me an email and I can make one for you too! daisy@daisyviktoria.com
Did u have a tut on the hat??
Is tut short for tutorial?
I didn't create a tutorial when I made the hat but did post the progress photos to Patreon!
If you want a tutorial, I can add your request to my ongoing list!
The sleeve reminds me of chinese dress.
iCH BIN ANNE OF CLEVES-
Chicken Nugget YEAH
Some people like to flog a dead horse. Henry the Gross was more into being rude to a Flanders Mare.
LOVE IT! My one teensy quibble: The German kirtle might have been built more like a dirndl at the bust. German dresses were curvier at the top than French and English dresses of the period, until the mid 1500's when the pair of bodies took off across Europe.
That's simply not true, as you can find in a quick search of the portraits and various images from this region. I am also familiar with the more curved bodices, and that is a different dress style which is not the one recreated in this video. "Germany" as we know today was not one single unified fashion region with strict patterning rules. Rather, it was part of a diverse area of fashions in Western Europe.
Good video but usually they lined the inside of the outer court with fur
What court do you mean? A basketball court? A food court, perhaps? Which is the outer court? Please tell me how I can line the inside of the outer court with fur!!
I like the German Outfits because they are modest and I believe in modesty.
Your hair goes beautifully with the taffeta!
