I just found this series on youtube and got into melee only a couple months ago. Been binging this series since i found it and gotta say that it is one of my youtube favorites!

i feel like N0ne's understanding of "respect" shown through gameplay is very utilitarian. "that was required" or "that wasnt required" are strong criteria for him when determining a level of respect

n0ne wasn't wrong by saying that in this situation. Scar and n0ne both do attempts to read the opponent. But scar read it wrong, so it wasn't a read for n0ne, only an attempt. n0ne read it right but the excecution was not perfect.

I think none's definition was a misspeak. The context suggests that he was talking about whether or not you actually predict your opponent correctly, not just that it connects.

Those first two minutes were on another level of awkward.
I feel it really wasn't that awkward in person. Silence =/= awkwardness, you're probably insecure if you think that it is. Not trying to offend anyone, when it's quiet people just tend to overthink and fill in the blanks for no reason. I think we all feel it sometimes, especially when you're with someone you'd like to impress, but there's really no foundation to believe that every time there's a small lull in a conversation it has to be awkward.
Amit and Sage no I know the way it's edited makes it seem worse, that's why I said in person it probably wasn't so bad.
And being insecure isn't uncommon or even really an insult by my standards. Everyone has insecurities and everyone feels insecure at times. I get insecure in some situations quite a bit, it just takes a step back outside of myself to know that it's probably not as big a deal as I think it might be.

I don't see that happening now
The lack of soft counter conversation and general ease-of-game plan/tournament use is probably my biggest gripe with general melee discourse as a Tekken fan because we have characters considered S tier as a general consensus based more on ease of use than hard numbers. Characters like Kazumi and Jack on paper are probably middle to high tier having a very small pool of usable moves that can become predictable over time. Devil Jin is frequently touted as the Fox equivalent; incredibly high skill ceiling and impeccable, varied move set. All three characters have been considered to be S tier by many players and community leaders. Melee certainly has many more years behind it than the current iterations of Tekken but I do wonder how many characters’ unexplored potential remains as such purely because the Melee scene is so numbers focused.
Please have none on more. This chemistry is fucking golden.

I’m still not sure why Scar doesn’t fast fall enough. Just look at how n0ne aerials and then look at how Scar aerials. Scar’s are just too slow compared to n0ne’s. I understand that it can be good to have mixups with aerial timings but it just seems like scar’s relying on the slower aerial too much and I think it’s costing him precious conversions in the puff matchup.

There's something extraordinarily cool about Falcon's up-b and side-b off stage. First time I saw them was in I Killed Mufasa.
Ganon's down-b spike hitbox is also incredibly cool off stage. There isn't a day I don't look longingly out the window, dreaming for that hitbox to be attached to Falcon's hot, juicy foot...

The reason this episode of the reads is so uncomfortable is because Scar's energy is completely cancelled and contradicted by None's. Scar has no idea what to do around None and feels threatened by him (for good reason). Scar's bravado and know it all attitude is much less evident in this episode than others, because throughout, he is grappling with his own inferiority.

On the Falcon B moves not being cool thing. I can't remember the set, but Wizzy had this moment where someone was comboing him just a little bit in the air and Wizzy just falcon kicked the stage, breaking the combo and knocking the guy off him as if to say, "Back off you low tier scrub!" Was like the man was asserting his dominance. Really dope moment, to me. But then again, None probably wouldn't think so, since he's just way more knowledgeable on the game and can see the why's of moves, where I can't.
