With rumors of a new Smash Bros coming to Nintendo Switch, Did You Know Gaming takes a look at some facts, secrets, Easter eggs and history of Super Smash Bros Brawl! Brawl had an unusual production, and was made by several teams including Sora Ltd. and Game Arts, and published for the Nintendo Wii. The game was preceded by Super Smash Bros for the Nintendo 64 (N64) and Super Smash Bros Melee for the Gamecube, and was followed by Super Smash Bros for Wii U and 3DS. This series is a crossover of Nintendo characters, including Mario, Donkey Kong, Link from The Legend of Zelda, Samus from Metroid, Ness from Earthbound, Captain Falcon from F-Zero, Yoshi, Kirby, Star Fox and Pikachu and Jigglypuff from Pokemon among others. Through our analysis of Brawl, its gameplay and beta builds, we hope to show some of the more interesting facts from the making of the game and that its history is explained.

As annoying as it must've been to animate all those cutscenes, I bet the staff working on that were cracking up the whole time looking at half that footage.
mostly tho I just wanna see how he acted out Mr. Game & Watch's stuttery animation.
This is why I worry about Sakurai's health at times. He had to have exhausted himself doing that especially since he's Bruce Lee level of perfectionist.
He deserves all the respect in the world, the man's a perfectionist and works under pressure but even then he takes care of the simplest details and does everything for the game's sake

It's likely gone now or unavailable to anyone outside of higher ups and people who worked on the game. They didn't specify if it was recorded either.

I don't think so. After Sonic was announced, there was a demo playable at E For All and Sonic playable. This meant that he was ready to go right after.

I'd like to see her have the Assault charge blaster for a base B, B-stick could be a rocket launcher blast, or the staff fire, B-down could either be a grenade or she does the staff shield thing from Adventures, b-up recovery could either be the staff rocket jump or the jet-pack from Assault.
Wolf could return and have Bladewolf Wolfen from Star Fox Zero as a final smash.
but.....Zero was just awful. although Wolf's transformed Wolfen looks far more badass than the Arwing transformed. the Arwing walker looked like it was from a Cybertronian KFC, not practical at all. the laser cannons would be much better if they were mounted on the shoulders like a lot of "practical" mecha have been.
Doesn't matter if it was awful, so was Other M and they still changed Samus' design, and as you said, transformed Wolfen was pretty cool, it's unique and not a landmaster.
Sakurai is an absolute beast. Everyone in and outside of Nintendo treats him like some kind of 10/10 game factory, and not an actual human.

People are biased towards the Mother series, and ignore the fact that Mother was over represented in Brawl.

TheTaco 27 1. 3DS and Wii U Smash already have exclusive features. 2. The 3DS version should've never been made in the first place lol. It slowed down the development of the Wii U version and caused multiple content cuts so they could be more comparable.

Switch=Adventure Mode
Only it won't have the story cutscenes and such in it cause that's the reason why Sakurai didn't include a story mode in it because he said the cutscenes in brawl were uploaded onto the internet and such and that he felt that the cutscenes wouldn't be rewarding if people saw them first onto the internet or something so he was against having them in Smash 4 at least i think that's what people said what Sakurai said anyway. So the Adventure Mode wouldn't have a story or anything like that, it would be like Melee where you go through stage to stage until you run into fighters where you have to fight and such, that way Sakurai wouldn't worry about making an Adventure Mode for the Switch since it wouldn't have any cutscenes in it for people to leak it and such.

Man, you have to respect Sakurai's dedication and extreme work ethic. Even when he is literally forced to make a new game, he just gives it his all. Acting out scenes? No problem. Creating a story for Adventure Mode? You got it. This man is a pure legend.
This game alone sparked my love for the franchise, and Smash 4 sealed the deal. I can only wonder what Smash 5 holds for the future... This might seem strange, but I only hope Sakurai does not have a fucking mental collapse or something while working on it. I know he is exhausted of working on the series and he deserves a rest, yet he chooses to continue, and that is respectable and all, but really, the man should take care of himself. I do not want a second Iwata situation to happen...

Despite the tripping mechanic and the aggravating wait for a match online, I really enjoyed Brawl and it's one of my favorite titles on the Wii.
The story mode was pretty fun for long play and the cutscenes were amazing. Classic and All Star as well as some of the Events were cool.
Despite having a few clone characters (Laaaaaaand Mastuh), it was a damn good roster, despite that I have a moderate hate for Diddy Kong. And we got some great taunts too.
Sonic the Hedgehog, my favorite video game character, was finally included in the roster and gave me more motivation to work my ass off to afford a Wii.
I think my least favorite thing was when I finally got a match online, I would run into pacifists who would want to just hang around on the stage and either goof off or dedicate themselves to "protecting" anyone who played a girl character like Peach or Zero Suit Samus. It was amusing for five minutes and maybe I would play along for a bit, but I came for a battle, not to play house.
We had entertaining internet content sprung from this game's advent; Brawl Taunts, Smash Bros Brawl machinima (it was entertaining at the time), let's plays, etc. Whether you love it or hate it, this is an extremely memorable Nintendo title.
I don't know how everybody else felt about it, but the Subspace Emissary was my favorite part of rawl, and I wish Smash 4 had something like it.

I'd sorta prefer she used a staff, and would be similar to the Zelda/FE characters, maybe also use Assault weapons like a more powerful charge blaster, or the gatling gun for specials.

Why must this game be so underrated? Just because it didn't cater to competitive players the way they wanted it to, people treat it like it's the worst game in existence. To be completely honest, I'm glad they made Brawl and not a Melee rerelease because:
1)It's the Smash game I started on and it wouldn't have been the same with Melee
2)It continues a nice streak that the Smash series will probably keep as time goes on, whether we get a new iteration or not: No Smash Rereleases!

It's kind of depressing that nearly every new Smash 4 character is one they came up with during Brawl but said "eh, that's a bit shit, we'll leave it out".
I hope Krystal would get added to Smash Bros. Specially because she would have a more unique move-set. Sad that Star Fox characters in Smash currently have similar styles.
I would prefer at least main male, female and rival/villain from most Nintendo series represented in Smash. Obviously can't do that for all series. They should limit on how many appear from a given series as well.

I don't really mind when a character is unique enough but it is more the amount that annoys me. There is a huge imbalance in amount of characters representing the different series. It makes it worse when some of those characters are way too similar. Which is why I think some would be better as an alternate costume. We need a wide variety of characters from different series not a bunch from one or two and odd ones from the rest.
To be clear not hating on the developers. I fully appreciate the work they do. My writing style can come across as being too negative.

Think about it. If the port was made instead of Brawl, they would have used PAL Melee as the base, since PAL Melee had a little more development time, thus why Fox is weaker compared to NTSC Melee Fox.

AW man I'm a little disappointed the video didn't mention that the gigantic Brawl fanfiction was written by a fan who was learning English as a second language! Writing is an excellent way to flex your language skills and in an interview the author stated that between having fun with the project and being able to expand their language skills, the fanfiction just kinda went on!!

I was a bit disappointed in the direction brawl took but damn, after watching this I can see that Sakurai had his hands extremely full. Props to him for the amount of work he put in this game eventhough the odds were unbelievably against him.
While it's definitely my least favorite of the Smash Bros. games, I still enjoy it for what it is.
I think it by far has the best music, not so much on gameplay tho...

I disagree Melee had a better menu music and 64 and Melee had more original openings plus a hype announcer that pumped you up when you heard him.
I'm aware of that, but Brawl just has... something about it. Maybe it's the Latin-singing chorus? The Final Destination remix? I just wish the main Brawl theme was available in 4, not just the menu version.

I personally think that Krystal would be a cool character as well.
Nintendo and Sakurai needs to read these comments and take them into consideration, also for adding Krystal Geno, Takamaru, Ayumi Tachibana, Dixie Kong, and maybe Plusle and Minun despite Gen 3 being overshadowed by Gen 4 with Lucario. Remember Sakurai took a risk with adding Marth and Roy and look at Fire Emblem now.....
Being Honest Here! Brawl is my Favourite Smash Game. I've played the First Smash and Enjoyed it,I've never played Melee but I love Brawl and I enjoyed Smash For 3DS and Wii U

I love that the threat they used to get Sakurai to make Brawl was that a Wii port of Melee would be made with online.
Even though Melee diehards would've loved that *way* more. I still really like what we got and I don't like how Brawl's so underrated.

Yeah I feel like the hype for Smash 4 died far quicker than it did for Brawl, probably because they released two version separately and all of it went into 3DS, which many quickly tossed aside.
KaioConnor it's cuz it was on the WiiU, a relatively unsuccessful console. If Sm4sh gets ported to the Switch I'm sure it would do great.

Brawl is the best game in the series all around from a "video game" standpoint. Best single player content, best music, loads of unlockables and secrets, biggest and craziest roster (at the time) the game was amazing on release and still is

Why couldn't Falco's Final Smash be his Arwing? He's more a pilot. Make it like Captain Falcon's Vehicle where you need to be near the opponent. Falco in the Arwing Shoots and crashes the enemy.
