Verry nice and smooth lap. What are you using for data capture and display? I learned a few things from watching this. Thanks for posting, and you did a great job on the video and the driving!
Your 911 build is one of my all time favorites (Mostly because of your philosophy of having 1 car being able to do it all). Its my dream to someday build one myself. Do you recommend any books to read up and learn about suspension setups & aerodynamics?
Thanks. Two books sitting next to my chair right now are "How to Make Your Car Handle" by Fred Puhn and "Competition Car Aerodynamics" by Simon McBeath.
It's the temperature. I ran very low tire pressures so they'd come up to temp, and the cool air is great for a low-hp car like mine. I've also made a few minor tuning changes -- tire pressures (I got a pyrometer), ride height and swaybar settings.
I have a stock 3rd gear, but a short 4th and a short 5th. It's as short as some 4th gear sets. On the freeway, 80 mph is 4,000 rpm in 5th gear. In the faster sections of the video, you can see me getting very close to redline (6,850) in 5th.
Nice driving! I am curious about one thing, your car is not heavy certainly, but getting it down to about 2000 without driver should be do-able? And would be even more impressive, have you thought about that?
That's not incredibly hard if your only objective is cutting weight. But my roll cage adds maybe 125 pounds to my number, the integrated fire system adds more, and the second oil cooler and transaxle pump and cooler add still more. None of those are things I'm willing to jettison. And I have a full interior, glass and stock climate control, since I drive the car on the street. Also, people who boast about 2000-pound 911s usually aren't talking about the car with a full tank of gas (125 pounds there). And sometimes there's just a touch of exaggeration. My weight is pretty honest.
Jack Olsen Thanks for the insight! No personal experience (yet) with creating an uber-light P-car, but I have read the '67 911R was 1775 pounds, of course your 3.6 motor and 915 gearbox are heavier than the 901 box and early mag-case motor, and to get super light means 'glass doors, hoods, front fenders, roof, etc, and I can see how you would not want to do all that with a daily driver, And hard to argue with your results,

The tires are Nitto NT01 -- 255 and 275 widths on 17-inch wheels.

I´m baffled by the speed in which you change to 5th.

Meh, I guess that's alright....for an old pos.
Hah hah, just kidding, Jack!
Stellar job, nice to see.
nice run .... you're so close to 26 :)) if its not a secret on a cold day like that what tire pressure do you start at ?
Lap times are continuing to fall. Is that all temperature or did you put Black Beauty on a diet?
Hi Jack, what type of mic do you use and where do you place it to avoid wind noise?

What tires you running for this run?
You need a 6th gear. lol. Nice hot rod
Great smooth lap. You should take your 911 to Redline Time Attack at Willow Springs March 23 and school 600hp Evos and WRX's. I got my money on you ;)
