I just sat here weeping knowing that that task will fall to his family and bandmates. I’m so sorry for this tragedy. I only just found the band. I’m listening all day in the middle of Oklahoma so remember, you never know how far your love and music can reach to hearts everywhere. ❤️✨🎶🙏
Every beekeeper in the realm and the Royal Beekeepers had to inform the bees in every one of the Queens properties that " The Queen has died, but there would be a new King and would they please not leave". The tradition continues.
'Telling The Bees' was the song that touched me most on first listen to Folklore and started my Big Big Train journey less than 6 months ago! Love the sentiment guys. Thanks for sharing and congrats again on the Prog Awards success. Keep rollin'!
My mother said 'Listen, son... Your father's gone Now the time has come You must tell the bees he gave his life Drape black cloth over the hives.' Now I am the keeper And the years passed by Until the day that Jenny caught my eye I walked over and I asked her for a kiss Sweet taste of honey on her lips Telling the bees, telling the bees As old as these hills and old as the stones I feel it down to my soul And the bees were told On the day we wed Wild flower garlands Draped our marriage bed Now two years on, we have our son The bees were told and we carry on Telling the bees, telling the bees As old as these hills and old as the stones I feel it down to my soul The joy is in the telling The sorrow in the soul Tears of happiness and sadness Let them flow... Telling the bees, telling the bees
An uplifting song and a great video of Big Big Big Train. And you have to love the emotion that Rachel Hall (and all band members) put into this performance.
I just discovered this beautiful song. From my understanding David the lead singer has passed? May his soul rest and his spirit be with the Honey Bees. 💛💚🪻🐝🌼
Nicely done. Thanks for sharing that. My go to music are tom Paxton Nancy Griffin Mary Chapin carpenter jerry jeff walker John prine rodney Crowell Todd snider. James mcmurtry nick drake To name a few. Be well stay safe 🙋
There's a wonderful folk song about the old tradition of telling family secrets to the bees as a way of communicating news to your ancestors: ua-cam.com/video/YVFmD_elNf4/v-deo.html
Funny how Greg used to the the multi-instrumentalist and creative genius of the band, playing keyboardist and lead guitar, and now, with little ego, he's relegated himself to the bass.
I hope someone will tell the bees of David Longdon’s tragic passing. May his musical legacy live on forever. Thank you David for your music.
RIP, Dave,
You'll be sorely missed.
I told my bees this evening
I will tell my bees

Amen.
I'm not sure why but this song brings tears to my eyes. Such a beautiful song RIP David Longdon, your lose was a blow to the world.
To David’s daughters - “the joy is in the telling”. Please tell the bees! For David.
What a perfect song. And Nick is such a complimentary drummer. No overplaying or overkill. Beautiful....
So incredibly sad to hear the news of David's passing. Such a talent RIP
Thanks for the music David, rest in peace.
This song is a masterpiece. I have no words to write about my felling when i heard it for the first time. Thanks a lot, Big Big Train.
Such absolute songwriting and playing masters. This song will be among the closest to my heart as long as I live
Love this song. My 11 year old son and 6 year old daughter do, too. Trying to build the next generation prog fan base.

5:43 Love the little “Flight of the bumble bee” riff by Danny Manners here ❤
What an absolutely beautiful song this is... Makes me smile and cry at the same time... I love it!!
My mother said 'Listen, son...
Your father's gone
Now the time has come
You must tell the bees he gave his life
Drape black cloth over the hives.'
Now I am the keeper
And the years passed by
Until the day that Jenny caught my eye
I walked over and I asked her for a kiss
Sweet taste of honey on her lips
Telling the bees, telling the bees
As old as these hills and old as the stones
I feel it down to my soul
And the bees were told
On the day we wed
Wild flower garlands
Draped our marriage bed
Now two years on, we have our son
The bees were told and we carry on
Telling the bees, telling the bees
As old as these hills and old as the stones
I feel it down to my soul
The joy is in the telling
The sorrow in the soul
Tears of happiness and sadness
Let them flow...
Telling the bees, telling the bees

Just discovered this eclectic prog band...love their fussing style...the Peter Gabriel's voice touch..they definitely came here to stay
4:15 David’s smile is very poignant here… RIP David, the world became a darker place you died after your accident.
Lovely stuff, all round. Amazing guitar work especially!
From undoubtedly one of the best, if not the best, albums of 2016. Lovely.
Love "The Flight of the Bumblebees" at the end :)
5:43 by the keyboardist, for anyone wondering. Only just noticed today!
Always love that quote from Flight Of The Bumblebees at the end :) 🐝

You guys are great, thanks for sharing.
This was my favourite track on Folklore when I first heard it. London Plane probably is now, but I still love this.

Funny how Greg used to the the multi-instrumentalist and creative genius of the band, playing keyboardist and lead guitar, and now, with little ego, he's relegated himself to the bass.
the bass is the foundation of the band, eg, Paul McCartney, Phil Lynott, John Entwhistle, Dave Pegg. Greg is in fine company
Bass is a prime position from which to observe and direct a band's sound and dynamics.
Sounds like a promotion to me. The bass is the thing that stands out for me in this group.
Dave's Les Paul changes colour at 4:55 ... from gold top to green.
I think the green guitar is a Gretsch.
I think it was the green guitar before the solo too?
promising song let down by inane chorus... anyway I'm new to their music and much of it sounds really good
Just listening now and thought the same. Lazy chorus.
So poignant!
Beautiful.
