Tutorial • Tutorial - Abba - Danc...
You can dance, you can jive, having the time of your life
See that girl, watch that scene, dig in the dancing queen
Friday night and the lights are low
Looking out for the place to go
Where they play the right music, getting in the swing
You come in to look for a king
Anybody could be that guy
Night is young and the music's high
With a bit of rock music, everything is fine
You're in the mood for a dance
And when you get the chance...
You are the dancing queen, young and sweet, only seventeen
Dancing queen, feel the beat from the tambourine
You can dance, you can jive, having the time of your life
See that girl, watch that scene, dig in the dancing queen
You're a teaser, you turn 'em on
Leave them burning and then you're gone
Looking out for another, anyone will do
You're in the mood for a dance
And when you get the chance...
You are the dancing queen, young and sweet, only seventeen
Dancing queen, feel the beat from the tambourine
You can dance, you can jive, having the time of your life
See that girl, watch that scene, dig in the dancing queen
Great rhythm on the left hand
Incredible left hand
Thank you fabiomand :)
his left hand playing the baseline. wow. The best piano cover of this song
So many times I come to UA-cam to hear covers of tunes, often to try and learn them myself. More often than not I find the chords are wrong or the feel is completely off, but you totally nailed it. You have 'The Ear'. Nice one.
Thank you. I try to get it as right as I can - sometimes compromising to get a near approximation condensed onto one keyboard. The trap which it is easy to fall into is that when you practice your version of a song, any arrangement errors overwrite the original in your own brain and you think you are playing a faithful version. I think my versions are accurate - but I would think that wouldn't I?
I know right! Other people do covers so sloppily and inaccurate, but not this guy. He definitely has "The Ear" and plays them all so well!
Thank you, you are very kind. I was born a bit too late to have a go at professional music when the sort of stuff I like to play was still mainstream.
Nice bass rhythm
I have watched your videos many times and I've tried to understand what makes your versions of the songs you play so much more appealing to listen to than the others. I can't really put it into words. When you play these songs that are normally played by a full band, it's as if the other instruments are still there. Your basslines are awesome and groovin, your voicings are perfect and full and warm, and everything sounds just as good or better than the original. Truely talented! God Bless!!!
It's because he's playing the left hand like a bassist would (rather than just single quarter notes or something boring)
Your bass lines are always super fantastic!!! Wish I could play like that!
Weird to think piano covers on UA-cam peaked around 13-14 years ago. Still one of my favourite covers. Hope you’re still playing great stuff
You are the BBBBBEEEEEESSSSSSTTTTTTT!!!!!!! at playing the piano these songs are the best
Excellent. Extremely faithful. Not an easy song to arrange for 1 instrument so most people compromise in many places. Not here.
super cover and I love the left hand bass sound !

I like this. One reason is that even though it's on the keyboard or the electric piano, you still give a lot of expression and passion to what you are playing. The quality is quite good as well. I love your bass lines and its amazing that you can play what a band plays on your own!
Just couldn't be any better!
The way you fall onto the F#(? correct me if I'm wrong) at 0:50 is fantastic, really is the best part of the song
Thank you. It's unusual to have a chord change occur on the 4th beat of the bar. I'm thinking maybe the song drops one beat in that bar. It is rich and adventurous song writing at its peak.
it doesn't drop a beat in the original but it does here
@pianomike777 You are very kind. I don't know why more bedroom keyboard players don't give matching prominence to the bass line as the original track. I can understand live keyboard players keeping out of the way of the bass player. For older songs the sound recording quality of the day was a limiting factor. I just try to do the best I can. Thanks again for your comment.
I have two favorite versions of this song on UA-cam. You are one of them! This is great!!!! I'm gonna learn that left hand, amazing bass!
and again that left hand playing bass line...amazing
Yup love the awesome bass too
Hire Paul Wells for the next super-group. They can save money on a bass player because they won't need one. ;-)
the best version .....
I dont have a clue how u can 'Knock' someone for playing an amazing version of this song. Im only 15 but i think your amazing :)

Thanks hatherway - you're right you can never have too much bass.
Would you believe that I like ABBA and AC/DC for the exact same reasons?
It really brings me back to my days as a toddler.
Brilliant nice accurate bassline
Serious multitasking here. This must be a woman behind those hands! Bass line is amazing
If by woman you mean the slightly balding guy with bushy eyebrows who appears briefly at 1.13 then you are probably right.
Steve Chilcott CGI Steve. CGI. :-)
In the immortal words of Mad Captain Rum (Blackadder). "You have a woman's hand, milord! I'll wager these dainty pinkies never weighed anchor in a storm."
great transcription! very accurate to the original song.
Very Talented. Who needs a four person band.
Aplause !! Fabuloso!
Sounds like James Jamerson on Bass with the best cover piano I've heard.
The best of the best...
Perfect,well done Paul.
Inspiring for a professional or a beginner pianist like me. I have been a beginner for 29 years.
The good thing about living in 2023 is that music no longer has the rigid definition it used to and we are all free to just enjoy our own experiments. Let's all just enjoy being beginners forever 😀
FAB as usual! and you need to get a record deal!
Oh man...that was so good!!! Please make a tutorial so I can impress my niece.
Fantastico.👋👋👋
YOU'RE AMASING,THE BEST ONE ,THANK YOU!!!!!!!

Parabéns pela criação.

@throthelens Thanks - that is the effect that I always hope to get, to bring out some of the parts that are not so obvious in the original. Yes, MASH is up there.

bom demais!
I can only assume that you're a pro, or that your talents have ben tragically overlooked by the music industry.
💫
Perfect 😁
@nlcortana It's not variable, but it would be really good if it was. There are occasions where I play a chord in the left hand, and only the bottom-most note is located left of the split.
DAMN I LOVE YOU
I would LOVE to take piano lessons from you! :-D
you just taught that abba piano player a lesson!
