I'm studying my Diplomas in Mechanical at the University of technology which will make me a (Technician) and after that I'll do BEng Tech in Mechanical Engineering(Technologist). So I want to be a Professional Engineer, do I have to do a MSc in Mechanical Engineering?
@@jamesmlawanda8025 No, that's not correct, BEng Tech ( Hons) is NQF level 8 yes same as Bsc/BEng NQF level but is not Enough to register one as Professional Engineer, if one have BEng Tech (Hons) they need extra more 2 years of MEng to register as candidate Engineer late with enough experience as Professional.Engineer check on ECSA website. Only Bsc (Eng)/ BEng don't need MEng or Msc to register as Candidate Engineer
@@jamesmlawanda8025 STOP LYING. He need MEng(Professional ), BEng Tech(Hons) is same NQF as Bsc but is not equivalent, BEng Tech(Hons) remain Technologist
@@engineer3126 I don't understand why though. Why are they equal in nqf levels and equal in such a way that u can both do Meng yet u can't be a engineer
To the employer, there's no difference. To the student, BSc(Eng) tends to have more general science subjects whereas a B(Eng) will likely be more practical. But ultimately, students will learn the "same stuff" and both degrees are pretty much equal
