Most of area quest are made mmo quest because EA wanted Dragon age inquisition to be a MMO. Bioware had to fight to change the mind of ea and made inquisition a rpg. Fortunately the main story and allied quest are really good. The main quest "Wicked eyes and wicked hearts" is in my opinion the best of the game
I recently replayed this by downloading the PS4 version on my PS5. I still love and enjoy it. And I have played Dragon Age Origins and Dragon Age II. I’m not biased and play each game on its merits. I like Dragon Age Inquisition for what it is, a new story in the Dragon Age universe. Although I did wish we could have had more of Morrigan and Liliana.
My GF is playing Dragon Age 2 right now and she's been enjoying it a lot! Makes me excited to try out the older games after I'm finished with Dragon's Dogma 2. Although I will be starting with Origins just to do the story in order, and then I'll probably replay Inquisition with an imported world state right before Dreadwolf.
I actually had a similar experience back when this game came out. Hinterlands very much overstayed it's welcome and when I finally got to owning your own headquarters I was so excited. Then I got a bug crash when you meet the DA2 main character and I just called it there lol. I think that bug has since been fixed but I was so annoyed by that time that I went on to something else. At some point, I'd like to revisit the game and maybe just run it through on easy difficulty since I really enjoyed the previous 2 dragon age titles for the story more than the gameplay haha. It's crazy that you only played 15 hours and so much seemingly happens in the story. I believe the full game is actually much longer if I remember correctly? Thanks for the video!
Currently working on the DLCs and I'm about 60 hours in so far at the end of Jaws of Hakkon. I believe each DLC is about 5 hours each so I think I'll top off my first full playthrough at 70 - 75 hours and then I'll try out other classes and races. It's unfortunate you encountered that bug. Aside from visual bugs like Blackwall t-posing in the background of a cutscene, I only encountered one major bug not allowing me to select a dialogue option very early in the game and then never again. Anyway I thought this was pretty decent, I've never played the earlier titles so I really don't have much to compare it to but it was a fun world to get into!
I remember that bug! I remember that’s why I quit playing DA I think each version had a game breaking bug or maybe Mr Xbox had the ring of death. I don’t remember but kinda do?!? 😂
After purchasing a brand new high-end computer, I eagerly searched for RPG games that I could spend hundreds of hours playing. I recently purchased and began playing Inquisition. After some time, perhaps due to a large amount of time spent in Hinterlands, I became overly bored that I began looking for new games to play. While I believe it is wonderful to help a fledgling organization become the powerhouse that shapes Thedas' future, I do not like to fill my journal with hundreds of quests requiring me to visit the questgiver in order to complete them. Even though I do not necessarily call it trash, seeing Hawke brought back good memories of DA2. My focus on the plot diminished to the point where I would jump between Hinterlands, Skyhold, then Ral Voyeaux back and forth. The game no longer makes sense to me and I don’t know if I even want to finish it. Because I don’t care to remember the name of the quest, every time I try to locate it in Journal full of side quests, I become frustrated to the point where I want to punch a hole in the screen. Daggerfall was the beginning of my RPG passion, which was followed by Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim. As for Origins and Two, I did not find them to be as overwhelming and tedious as Inquisition. There is no point in playing this game for me, I understand. I do not condemn it, but I try my best to respect those who do.
Thanks for sharing, your point is very understandable for this game. I do hope they tone down the tedious aspects of Inquisition in Dreadwolf since this game was released in a time where those tedious mechanics were being popularized by devs like Ubisoft in the open-world genre.
I feel absolutely the same about this game. Its so frustrating boring with the same and boring Quests in this annoying Journal.... I try it again a few days ago and still dont like it
Ill never understand how "Content bloat" is considered a bad thing. Its optional, you don't have to engage with it, but its there if you want to get the most out of the gaming experience. Currently its on sale for 4 dollars, good/bad whatever 4 bucks is worth it. ( I also remember the game being good in 2014.)
Speaking based on personal experience here, but optional content is generally great, but from a new player perspective that's trying out Inquisition for the first time, they don't really know which are meaningful content and which is not. It's why a lot of people quit the game before leaving Hinterlands. They don't realize what they're doing is optional, so they just follow the flow of the game and end up doing mid sidequests which makes them think that this is all the game has to offer. Good implementation of optional content is always a win for me. But the way Inquisition does it makes the game feel "bloated", filled with content to extend playtime so they can say it has X hundred hours worth of content, when really the things worth doing are half that. Based on what they're saying about Veilguard it seems that they understood they went to far and are now reeling it back, focusing on memorable, meaningful content instead of what they did here in DA:I.
So, it's very much like a watered-down version of origins with a base management system. And then an extra 30 hours of gameplay added that could have been cut to 12 hours. As a teenager, when it came out, I didn't mind it. I had way more free time. As an adult, it's almost impossible to enjoy without mods to cut out some of that waiting. They also watered down the spell combos and other combat (in my opinion) to the point that just playing on anything besides easy is just not that engaging. Now, don't get me wrong. I still love it, but if DA4 is similar, I will be very bummed. I would rather have a remaster of origins at this point with console mod access. Bring back the origins system, the interactive combos, a better traveling mechanic, and maybe flesh out the crafting mechanics besides the weird shit that was in Inquisition, and I would be sooo hyped for DA4. Will they do that? Probably not, it is EA after all...
Very excited to see what people loved about Origins when I do play it. It's one of those games I've always had in the backlog but just never freed up the time to play.
@Kaganath as long as you go in with the mindset that it's an older game and has bugs, it will be a great RPG experience. I do recommend installing some of the mods (if playing on pc) that address some of these issues. In my opinion, games like DA:O, Fallout New Vegas, and skyrim need community mods to get the full experience because RPG are soooo buggy because of their depth.
Unfortunately too many of the younger players seem to prefer the hand holding mindless gameplay of Dragon Age Inquisition versus the Deep meaningful systems of Dragon Age origins. I am a massive Dragon Age fan, and I can't even bring myself to play through Inquisition again. I 100% of that game, and I hated every minute of it
The biggest problem with this game was that they originally intended this game to be a MMORPG but then changed that decision to make it a Single Player RPG some time during the development. The result is that the mechanics and size of the maps are strange for a Single Player, and make it all seem a bit "empty" at times. Like you said many players - including myself - got fatigue already in the first large map the Hinterlands and quit playing. This is unfortunate and I might give this game a third chance at some point and struggle myself through that first huge map and see what comes after.
I notice Bioware has this weird tendency to trend chase instead of just focusing on what they're good at. You still see it in Veilguard with the vibe, but I'm glad they got rid of these ridiculously large maps.
It's a great game. I recently bought this game for less than 3$ for my steam deck but hell this game got so much details - last time I experienced something like this was from Witcher 3. It holds up so well for 2024 because we got few games of this quality. This game being given so much negativities by the ea launcher and by the crazy fans but honestly - if you never played DA and you like a good grind with this classic mmorpg with a little bit classic RTS feels but more action rpg oriented - go for this game. It's best with a controller IMO.
Inquisition veteran here, the game is a grind and the 3rd playthrough is when it's the most fun because you should have all your schematics for weapons and gear and upgrades. Once you do that, you can really max out stats, flesh out the mmorpg elements and enjoy it. You have all manner of crowd control, combos and class specializations. If you're good enough, you can solo nightmare difficulty without your party members if you want a real challenge.
I guess i am built differently. I like it when the overall worlds are massive, seperated but each area has an immense amount of things you can do. It always keeps my anticipation factor high because i know i am accomplishing alot in this one area before moving on. Usually i will stay in one area even in open world RPG'S that will allow me to move on UNTIL i have completed everything that area has to offer. Unless the story is staggered between many different areas. I tend to really like that. I think that generally has a better affect on the audience also, because most people have the attention span of a dog. Anyway. Great vid.
Thank you! Despite the negatives I still love Inquisition, and it still has a massive fanbase. Even if they continue with the same formula I'm gonna be there happy excited for when Dreadwolf eventually comes out!
Its an amazing game, the combat is outdated but thats easy to forgive because of how much there is to this story and intrigue and complexity in Inquisition
I know this is a 'me problem' and not a 'game problem' but the open-world fetch-questing is just boring busy work that takes away from the solid main quest. I say it's a 'me problem' because for the most part, these are entirely optional (aside from needed a certain amount of power), but I can't help myself and absolutely hate seeing unfinished quests in my journal.
@RedHoodFH I just used mods to skip the mindless grind that's all but hey is it me or inquisitions charachter creation is ugly or smth i keep wondering should I use a mod for it or not
@RedHoodFH so it is true lol I thought I was going crazy well thanks for the heads up then I'm playing to replay it again definitely moding the heck out of it
I played all the Dragon Age games and by far Inquisition is the best game by a land slide! I played all the story lines from the original to the last and even though the original has an excellent storyline and lore Inquisition gets you excited to play the game. From the theme song, and the story line of your character has a unique take by leaving you feeling as if you have a true purpose when faced with the original villain from the previous title. Also, building up your fort and carefully following the sub characters story lines brings you in deeper into the plot of the storyline. Originally, I had the game on the Ps4 but my console was damaged and so I recently decided to purchase the same game from the Epic game store but on my windows laptop. One strong recommendation would tell anyone is if your only goal is to purchase the game only don't buy the game on the Microsoft platform if you decide to use a PC because you have only 2 options to play this game. If you want to play the PC version you are required to pay the monthly XBOX game pass in order to play Dragon Age Inquisition. You are better off going directly to Epic Games and purchase the game directly from their game store. I can't comment on Steam, so I don't know. At the moment I am trying to figure out if I can use my Nintendo Switch Pro controller on my PC in order to play the game. I have a feeling I may need to go to GameStop and purchase a MicroSoft Controller instead. Has anyone used the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller for playing PC Games? If so please let me know if this can be done? Anyways great video on this game! Lastly, if you visit my channel, I have recordings of Dragon Age Inquisition recorded from 2017 when I first played this game.
@@jmmywyf4lyf well if you didn't like the game that's perfectly fine. You are entitled to what you like and dislike. Not everyone will share the same likes and dislikes. Maybe the proper response would be share what games you did like. For example maybe you like Mass Effect? Explain why you liked it. Maybe you sharing why you like something would benefit some one else versus say I don't like something doesn't server anything. Just a thought.
The fix ruins some animations for me, but I'm not sure if that's the same for most people. It's not really game breaking though, I got used to it after a while, but going from 144 to 30 is very jarring!
I purchased dragon age inquisition game of the year edition for $4.34 on PS5 from planet of the discounts & it’s available on xbox game pass on my xbox series x as well.🥂😎
Hello Everyone! I hope there is someone who could help me. I downloaded the game for my modded Xbox 360 but sadly ONLY for this game regardless of from where i download it, after Starting the game the next pop-up screen shows up : The game needs a Hard Drive and 7.1 GB free space. It wants me to select my hard drive, i select if i have 50GB free space but nothing happens, the screen shows up and up and up again. Anyone can help?
Definitely worth it. I'm currently on my 105 hours play time with this game. I hope they make a full hack and slash combat system next time. And a better combat options for NPCs.
no lol in this video you mentioned things like immersion but the immersion is only good if youre playing a non magical human and side with templars. if you had been playing a mage or a non-human race your immersion would be tramped upon to make the story better for the perspective of nonmagical human players as your character faces dialogue tree after dialogue tree of things that only make sense if you either dont have magic or happen to be a human. if you play a qunari youre lucky if anyone even references it you also mentioned not playing either of the sequels to dragon age. your immersion would probably be taken down a few notches every time the game contradicted one of the choices you made in previous games, which is A LOT. whether its from resurrecting characters you killed or just flat out retconning things you did. now that baldurs gate 3 is out i dont think im ever going to touch the dragon age sequels again. as far as im concerned, it is the sequel to dragon age origins.
Unfortunately I did play a non magical human and sided with the templars so I got the exact experience. Doesn't importing world state transfer over the decisions you make in the previous games or is it still bad for OG players even with imported world states? Genuinely curious as I thought this installment was decent on it's own.
@@Kaganathimporting world state is supposed to transfer over the decisions you make, but in practice only a few get a sentence of recognition while some of the biggest decisions you make just flat out get removed or changed. my last inquisition playthrough i tried to play an elf mage, which gives you the keepers apprentice backstory. this means your character is supposed to be well versed in all the elven ways from history religion magic etc, yet everyone addressed her as if she was human. in that playthrough: random humans corrected her on elven history, they need to tell her what goddess she worshipped, the other elves called her an outsider, etc... its just a mess this game might be alright on its own, ive only ever played it as part of a trilogy. the main villain of inquisition is kinda boring and there are so many time wasting mechanics, so i think the first dragon age game is still way better.
I swear I thought I was the only one that noticed this. I was so excited to play as a Qunari mage and less than ten minutes into the game I had to switch to something else because it just didn’t make sense. I also played as an elf which wasn’t as bad but I still had to do some pretty extensive head cannoning to give my character an excuse to join a cult for a god she doesn’t believe in populated by humans who have been actively repressing her people and culture for centuries. Casandra tells your Dalish elf that they should just adopt the Maker into their pantheon and the game treats it like it’s some kind of mic drop moment. The game just isn’t smart enough to grapple with its own set up. You can tell they wrote a single canon story and then added only a light sprinkling of flavor text for anything that wasn’t the canon story. The Inquisitor is a human that has the ability to cosplay as multiple other races. That’s how BioWare gave us the illusion of choice in DA:I.
I didn't like this game but I had to play through it and the DLC at least two times because I desperately wanted to like it. The DLC is excellent just the main game is bad IMO. To be fair, I played the first two games which had incredible writing so I was expecting another DA game with amazing story writing. Some of DAI is amazing but there are too many points where the writing is awful that the main game just doesn't work with the other two games. That it is also a off-line single player MMO is enough to wreck this game. I hope someone fixes this game someday because it could easily be great with a lot of love.
I've been strugglibg to replay this game for the last five years or so. 😂 Thank goodness Dreadwolf keeps getting delayed. It struck an uncomfortable spot where it feels like it got the worst of both worlds. An open world mmo with too little worthwhile content or story to keep it intetesting. Same with the combat which is more sluggish than DAO with less control than DA2.
Cant help myself but i dont like it. Its sooo horrible boring at some points. Youre doing the same stuff over and over and over again. Then there are some good Quests, and after that you do the same stuff over and over AGAIN!!!
just came here to spread the DAI hate , god i hate this game , just tried it 4th or 5th time , simply cant play it , one of the worst rpgs i've ever tried
Dragon Age Inquisition was garbage. And the fact that people applied it as a good game, only makes me worried that dreadwolf is going to be even worse. Dragon Age Inquisition was even worse than Dragon Age 2
overly dramatic much. c'mon dude. E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial or superman 64 or suicide squad are horrible burning trash piles. this one is a slow as a snail on acid doing circles around my salat but otherwise. pretty alright. the world rly isn't that black and white unfortunately.
@@zay_tiggygaming I took my time to play it. Over 100 hours. It's a single player MMO that feels like a chore to play and it's offensive to anyone who worked on and loved Dragon Age Origins which is a classic. It's incomparable.

Inquisition is Dragon Age in name only. That game is garbage
I finally got my own Dragon Age inquisition deluxe edition xbox 360 video game.🐉
Played this game so many times. Very good and well worth it.
4:40 hey, who farted? :)
i really liked your video style, the editing and your narration. Very well made, keep it up!
Thanks! I really enjoy this format since I can play the game without being distracted by trying to commentate live, so it's a big win!
@@Kaganath just next time do a spoiler warning
The 30 fps lock is literally a 1 minute fix. I don't feel like that should have been a con. Great review otherwise!
The fix ruins some animations for me, but I'm not sure if that's the same for most people. It's not really game breaking though, I got used to it after a while, but going from 144 to 30 is very jarring!
I’m on my 6th run that’s how good it is
Maybe I'm just not an fps connoisseur, but the vertical bars seen during cutscenes are really noticeable.
What I find more surprising is that Dragon Age Keep is still active in 2024.
I actually just finished working on my Tapestry there, only to find out that Veilguard won't be using Dragon Age Keep
Who is here after epic games?😅
Good review but missing one key element, difficulty. Is it easy and suitable for a beginner or is it soulslike difficult?
its your run of the mill RPG, just choose easy difficulty and you’ll breeze thru.
no lol
in this video you mentioned things like immersion but the immersion is only good if youre playing a non magical human and side with templars. if you had been playing a mage or a non-human race your immersion would be tramped upon to make the story better for the perspective of nonmagical human players as your character faces dialogue tree after dialogue tree of things that only make sense if you either dont have magic or happen to be a human. if you play a qunari youre lucky if anyone even references it
you also mentioned not playing either of the sequels to dragon age. your immersion would probably be taken down a few notches every time the game contradicted one of the choices you made in previous games, which is A LOT. whether its from resurrecting characters you killed or just flat out retconning things you did. now that baldurs gate 3 is out i dont think im ever going to touch the dragon age sequels again. as far as im concerned, it is the sequel to dragon age origins.
Unfortunately I did play a non magical human and sided with the templars so I got the exact experience. Doesn't importing world state transfer over the decisions you make in the previous games or is it still bad for OG players even with imported world states? Genuinely curious as I thought this installment was decent on it's own.
@@Kaganathimporting world state is supposed to transfer over the decisions you make, but in practice only a few get a sentence of recognition while some of the biggest decisions you make just flat out get removed or changed.
my last inquisition playthrough i tried to play an elf mage, which gives you the keepers apprentice backstory. this means your character is supposed to be well versed in all the elven ways from history religion magic etc, yet everyone addressed her as if she was human. in that playthrough: random humans corrected her on elven history, they need to tell her what goddess she worshipped, the other elves called her an outsider, etc... its just a mess
this game might be alright on its own, ive only ever played it as part of a trilogy. the main villain of inquisition is kinda boring and there are so many time wasting mechanics, so i think the first dragon age game is still way better.
That’s how BioWare gave us the illusion of choice in DA:I.
its on sale on steam for 5.99 as of right now, but the sale wont last long
I would've continued playing it if I didn't have to move the camera with keyboard rather than mouse like a normal friggin game.
I hope someone fixes this game someday because it could easily be great with a lot of love.
this video is gonna get a huge spike in views epic games just gave this game away for free
Only people that are interested in the game will probably watch the video. A lot people nowadays aren't really into rpg games it seems.
Chooses the most basic RPG job class known to man, then complains that the combat feels too basic. Hmm...
For free on Epic today, for sure!
the same deal for me i got burned out in Hinterlands
bruh is this supposed to be a review or a recap of the story?
not free on epic game anymore :{
Such a good game
Free on Epic today
R u sure?
@@kamikrazy1 yes. In two hours
It's in the vault
how did u know?
@@darshan00480 got leaked
Cant help myself but i dont like it. Its sooo horrible boring at some points. Youre doing the same stuff over and over and over again. Then there are some good Quests, and after that you do the same stuff over and over AGAIN!!!
The content of the video doesn't match the title.
And today this game is free in epic vault events 😂
the game is free on the epic store right now 👍
This game will always be worth it
This is still better than that new crap they just announced.
$3.99 on Xbox Aug 2nd 2024. Buy it NOW
Yes it is.
How is this on PS4?
so they essentially cut the cutscene which means it's a sad salad.
You just explained the story from the first 3 hours
Is it worth it? not here is 100% of the story and spoilers. FFS!!!
I have to try a different video im sorry you just sound bored talking about it
I wish I could play as a "Uman"
Yes.
I got bored after 4hrs , feels like I'm playing a MMO, tedious crafting system, little to no exploration
Awesome game.
i mean its free on epic now
This was more of a story recap instead of a review
i've had enough spoilers in 1 video
Free on epic now.
The last great Dragon Age
it's free on epic
just came here to spread the DAI hate , god i hate this game , just tried it 4th or 5th time , simply cant play it , one of the worst rpgs i've ever tried
Graphically looks better than dragon's dogma 2
no it literally doesnt
ITS FREE ON THE EPIC GAMES LAUNCHER!!!
we can see what's happening you don't have to explain everything as it happens...Smh
Free on Epic from today
Nope. Good storytelling overwhelmed by bloat
W Epic
Dragon Age Inquisition was garbage. And the fact that people applied it as a good game, only makes me worried that dreadwolf is going to be even worse. Dragon Age Inquisition was even worse than Dragon Age 2
No. It is not worth it. Do not waste your money.
THE GAME IS NOW FREE LOL
I heard the word "action" and that's all I needed to hear. Not interested, thanks.
Origins is the only Dragon Age that was ever worth it.
epic giveaway this trash😶
ong
Time to change your name to The HalfWit
it wasnt ever worth it when it came out
It was a horrible game 10 years ago. I am pretty sure it's still a horrible game in 2024
overly dramatic much. c'mon dude.
E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial or superman 64 or suicide squad are horrible burning trash piles. this one is a slow as a snail on acid doing circles around my salat but otherwise. pretty alright.
the world rly isn't that black and white unfortunately.

The game is actually really damn good if you take the time to play.
@@zay_tiggygaming I took my time to play it. Over 100 hours. It's a single player MMO that feels like a chore to play and it's offensive to anyone who worked on and loved Dragon Age Origins which is a classic. It's incomparable.
@@ElVnugo this was my first one and I've never played origins. Where can I experience that one?
