Hertz is a great bang for buck audio company, that said the Mille range is a bit overpriced for what it is. I've been using them for 20 years and have installed them in over 30 cars. Hertz is the go to audio company where I am in Europe and I recommend them to anyone who has asked me "what speakers to get" as an entry level without breaking the bank. Even made a pair of home speakers for a client, based on the MPK 6.5 component set. Hertz handles power very well, they are a tad more sensitive than the rest of the options when it comes to car audio, their speakers focus more on mids and highs and they do it very well, that said some of their 8 and 10in subs deliver outstanding performance in bandpass boxes. Good review, great work.

The hertz legend millie pro 10" is probably the nicest sub I've ever seen and I lobbed two in a box each for a home audio subwoofer and the two tens bang harder than my old 15 peavy impulse sub and tears on a 2000 wand a 2400 watt sub!

i agree, it's a fantastic sub. i installed one in my honda a month ago, replaced the highly respected JL TW3 and i can say, it sounds a little deeper, which is a lot considering a 0.5^ box doesnt get much below 45 Hz@@user-hm5vi6wo6r

I just installed the MPX 165.3 Coax in my front doors today and im loving the sound so far. Theyre nicer than the kenwood ps1696 i have in the rears, and combined to my pioneer d9704 amp, they get loud without much distortion either.
The only issues i have with it is (being nitpicky) the wire teminals are the same size instead of the usual - terminal being smaller on other speakers, and the speaker basket holes being spaced bigger than a standard 6.5" speaker. Other than that, love it

Another great and very informative review. The sound test is especially helpful. It's great that you go to the effort of making such a good setup for the sound comparison. Thank you for doing that. It seems that the coaxial almost sounded a bit better overall than the components, though I'd have thought the component would be a better choice. I'm very curious also how the three-way would sound. Any thoughts on these two points, please?

So in a 07 Z06 Corvette thinking of getting the MPX 165.3 to replace the main Bose woofer in my Door. Do you think that this will provide adequate base I was also considering the Hertz SPL Show SX 200 NEO as an option using adapters the space will allow up to 10" . The speakers in this vehicle are 3.5" and 10" in the doors and 5.25" in the rear. In case you have alternate recommendations. Open to offerings from BLAM, Focal, Etc just would like to try to keep at least my main front soundstage in the same brand for the long term if possible. Running an Alpine ILX-407 and will eventually be doing a small amp as well but no monster subs or anything as obviously i am very space constrained and dont wish to eat up all my cargo space on a sub amp setup. Could run small sub in door I have read that some do that but im not sure how that would sound and if the bass would be overpowering that way with not enough midbass. Any and all thoughts are appreciated. Thanks

I've always wanted to ask: what dies this power handling (of 90 rms at 03:37 for example)? Does the speaker need 90 rms to play? Will it not play with less? Will it burn it I feed it with more than 90 rms? and how exactly am I going to measure/limit/drive the speaker with 90 rms while we know that music is not a constant, instead it changes its values with frequency, volume etc?

    • @randomyoutubenickname
      @randomyoutubenickname 20 днів тому

The speaker doesn't exactly need 90Wrms to play, it can work with 60Wrms for example. What kills/burns a speaker is a distorted signal, that's why you should properly set the gain on your amp. You can also feed it 150Wrms and it won't burn/damage it, as long as the signal is clean.

The biggest thing people miss, is emotion. Sound is not only a feeling, but an emotion, and if what you're listening too, doesn't evoke goosebumps, and a catalogue of emotion to your senses, they're simply not worth spending money on. Outside of focal, and Candace, these speakers, even as budget speakers certainly made my senses awaken. The 6x9's, not so much, but what blew me away the most, is that little MX speaker, and it's versatility, especially for being an out of box design. I think I'll be investing in the 3 way components for my next set. Thank you.

At 125 watts rms, sensitivity at 93db, frequency range at 35hz-40khz, and a Terylene tweeter makes the Polk MM6502 take out the Infinity Kappa 600 Perfect, JL Audio C-5 650, and the Alpine SPR 60c. The ONLY components in the power range that Polk can't touch are the Focal Elite K2 Power ES165k.

      Try Morel!
I had a pair of JL Audio C5's which were around £500, then I tried a pair of Morel Tempo 6 which were £180 at the time, and I never looked at JL again!
Dieci are pretty bad line up, and so is the Cento line. The Millie's never really did anything for me. I'd always go Morel first, then maybe Alpine. But I got into home audio gear from the likes of Peerless, Scanspeak ... Dayton audio (speakers - don't buy the subs) and again, it's a sharp step up, from 99% of the car audio dross!
JL prices have increase sharply in the past few years, and now they're significantly overpriced IMO. My old JL sub cost me £129, now it's £250. For £250 I could buy a couple of Sundown subs, and there's' no way I've put JL subs over any Sundown sub for SQ or SPL.
Again I replaced my £500+ JL W6v3, with a £175 Sundown SA (V1) and never looked back! The SQ alone from the Sundown sub was a night and day difference to JL.

I'd choose something else. I'm a Morel enthusiast.
Audio Frog have suffered from build quality issues, and Hertz subs are mediocre at best, but I'd never buy Hertz speakers, if I can help it. My main quibble is that about AudioForg is Andy, being influenced by Harman, and IMO Harman are far from the apex of the audio world. Harman/Infinity/JBL sell a lot of gear, but doesn't mean it's the best!
As or build quality issues, every single Focal product I had failed within a short space of time, speakers subs, amps, so I gave up on them.
I don't question Hertz build quality, but I do question the sound quality ... which, in my opinion, is average at best. There's far better out there, Morel, DLS, Alpine, Ground Zero, I'd go with over Hertz.

@@daveroski "tuning can make or break any system."
People say that, but a bad/average driver is still a bad/average driver, no matter what you try and do with it!
You can't make a Hertz Mille sub perform like a Sundown in either SQ or SPL regardless, and believe me I've tried … but not very much as the hertz was nearly twice the price, and performed half as well in either SQ or output!
Just like JL, I like Hertz, but I just don't love them, especially at the price! There's far better out there for a lot less.
And it gets even worse if you're buying Hertz in the U.S. because the prices are seriously jacked up in comparison to what we pay on the UK.
MIlle Pro 12 is $599. You could get a Sundown U for $80 dollars less, or a Sundown X for $50 more.
Or you could get Stereo Integrity SQL 12 for near half the price. It's a no-brainer. Good though Hertz are, they're no Stereo Integrity!
