    Your videos on monthly breakdowns are some of the best on YTB 👏👏👏👏💕. Is really helping me with the planning of my move. Hoping to move next year around zone 3 to 6 on a 40k salary on a studio and 1 bed. I’ve shared flats for 15 years and had enough even though my housemates and landlord are lovely

    The increase in your electric bill is due to the so called "energy crisis"... I work from home, and I pay around £170. It is pretty nuts. I'm a single 35 year old for reference, no kids or dependants driving my bills up lol

    How is ur rent so cheap for a one bedroom! I just got to London and only could find one bedrooms for around the 1800-2100 mark.

    Council tax is based on the value of the property in 1991, not the current value.

    Curious to know which postal do u live where rent for a 1 bedroom is that affordable! And what size is your place?

    • @MonicaXGuan

      Don’t want to get too specific but Im in zone 2 north London. 😅 it’s definitely not the usual price for a 1 bed here but I rented it a year ago when the market was much better. I made a flat hunting video a year ago so you could see there was also other units around this price, but my landlord was very nice to not raise it to the market price right now this year. 🙏

    nice video
    i was thinking how much you earn I mean every job here in London pays you around 35k annual for a manager role.
    for that much I don't think its possible to spend more then 2 grand a month.

    Hi Monica! Thanks for the great video, it's very helpful! I moved to London from the US in 2020 it has been quite an experience! Quick question about investing with Vanguard, did you open a UK account? The salary here is in pounds but my US brokerage accounts are in dollars, I find it quite difficult to invest in the UK without exchanging currencies (which often comes with fees) and some of the brokerages here charge fees. Could you do a video on investment as an expat? Or I'd love to connect and chat more about living in London as an expat! Thanks!

    • @MonicaXGuan
      @MonicaXGuan  2 роки тому

      Heyyy ofcourse feel free to reach out on IG! But long story short I do invest in pounds out of my salary here but I do have money in Canada that I still use to invest and I just use a canadian platform to invest there so I don’t convert it to use on vanguard specifically. Although I guess when I buy US stocks, the platform automatically exchanges it but I’m avoiding a double exchange situation. Haha

    All the one-bedroom flats I've been checking out are approximately £1750. Could you recommend areas where the rent falls between £1200 and £1500?

    • @MonicaXGuan
      @MonicaXGuan  8 місяців тому

      Honestly prices have gone up so much more since I've made this video so it's probably unlike to find that at the moment in zone 1 + 2 :S

    Since you are working in the UK, can you elaborate on your Income Tax situation and Health Insurance?

    • @MonicaXGuan
      @MonicaXGuan  2 роки тому +2

      sooo short answer is the income tax is quite high, but based on your income. I'm not sure the exact percentages off the top of my head. 😅 There's no health insurance but since I'm not a citizen and I have a SW visa, my employer paid £800 a year for the health surchage as part of my visa.
