It has officially been scientifically proven that not only does Aesop have the largest vocabulary in hip hop, in comparison to other rappers he is literally off the charts. In a survey done on the first 35,000 words aes ever spit, over 7,300 of them were unique. The closest to come to his lyrical prowess is GZA(Wu!) at an impressive 6,200. But aesop a vocabulary has been also proven to be larger then Shakespeare and Herman Melville(Moby Dick Author). He's a monster.
unique (in this instance anyway) doesn't mean made up or never heard of. If you write a verse how many times do you say "the" or "it" or "hotdog", once you use a word it isn't counted again. So this is saying that of the first 35,000 word aesop wrote there were actually 7300 different words.
Aes is one of my favorite rappers and although Lil Wayne isn't, it's discouraging not to see him on that list because he certainly has talent with words.
"Keep throwing knives in the bathroom and I'll pretend I don't see the snow where your nose ends." "It's gonna be all good, right? Right. Gravy. The burden just disappears in the midst of Gerber babies." Holy shit! Aesop Fucking kills it every time. He can't help but spit genius every time he touches the mic. Lyrically, he's untouchable. Simple as that.
If his mind could focus on a person, he'd rip others to shreds. Aesop's mind has always seen too broad of a landscape to care about freestyling against others. It's a testimate to his audience and the longevity he's had. He was never the most aggressive but always the most expansive.
If the audience actually knew what he was spitting about that'd cool.. But.. They most likely don't. Who knows what he's spitting 99.9% of the time? Not me. His lyrics are like the deepest and most colourful paintings.. The ones we stare at in admiration but still don't completely understand.. Or understand at all. Words. He's the Peter Sinfield of underground hip hop❤
@SuperIkoHam I meant that a mainstream freestyle is more about how much better you are than the other guys and boasting about yourself. This is because these types of freestyles stem from cyphers and battles. Aesop Rock is a fantastic lyricist and can portray a message with more complex words, which is most likely why most people don't understand it (or like it). Stop comparing mainstream to underground. They are very different. It's like comparing a picture of your family to "A Starry Night."
I mean its pretty obvious that an Aesop Rock freestyle is completely open to interpretation to all kinds of critics. Because Aesop actually speaks almost completely in crazy metaphors, it can be difficult to come to an absolute meaning to his art. Because of the way this freestyle goes down, there probably isn't a an absolute meaning to it as a whole, but neither does a freestyle from a more mainstream artist, but if you examine it line by line I'm sure there is a lot of deep messages in there.
@Cj_moneybags Damn, that's crazy how things change over time. My bad, I didn't know that. I have only been getting deep into rap in the past like 2-3 years. Well, my apologies, and have a good rest of your day man.
@@Blue-nm7zv funny enough this is a topic of controversy because it originally didn’t mean off the dome it meant without clear topic, it eventually evolved into off the dome style of rapping but once rapper started to write their freestyles a new word needed to be made “off the dome”
@MookieSays1Love you can't comprehend the deepness of what he raps, he's on another level. Really think about what he's saying. Try reading along with ALL of his songs. Lyrics are online. Or if yer a real Aes Rock nerd like me you'll have a signed lyric book from him. with 5 albums worth of text!
aesop needs his own website just for trying to decypher his lyrics. fuck dead sea scrolls, latin, and alien languages. aesop rock is the most puzzeling wordsmith this side of the galaxy.
Man he kills that A Capella flow. If any of you haters out there think this shit is wack, then you prove you know nothing about hip-hop/rap roots. PS. (also to the haters) if you don't like this shit, go listen to Whiz Kalifa and Lil Wayne rap about the same shit over and over again, all because it's what your friends like.
Aesop is actually a really busy dude, right now he's working on a soundtrack for a film, releasing Impossible Kid, and he's making a comedy web series based on his album; Impossible Kid.
... Wow... I have listened to his albums and I was always like "There is no way he could freestyle lyrics like this"... and here I am... dumbfounded at how wrong that assumption was.
this is written, but you can check him out off the dome he still has incredible lyrical intergrity. Check out his freestyles with EL-P and his one with C rayz walz
/watch?v=jgOdKL4NHO0 This is the same "freestyle" except at a different place. You can tell because he's talking different. This is from the beginning because around 1 minute in is where this video starts. So I don't think this is a freestyle.
it is what it is if u dont like it then it is what it is...either way this guy is makin money off what he likes to do....how many of u cats can say that????i cant...
people fuckin say that for every fucking intelligent rapper there is.. look man there's smart people and there's stupid people, not only stupid people rap, we just do it alot better XD

***** Nah man he just knows big words. You can't come up with that many unique words, that are actually words, and not have an intelligent vocabulary.
+Scalpelslippage poly-graph.co/vocabulary.html heres the link to the study friend. no reason to question at all haha
+Scalpelslippage "laminate" also happens to originate from the same century as Shakespeare ;)

Aesop Rock is the freaking Shakespeare of our time we just don't know it yet...
Shakespeare on acid.

I like when Aes Rock spits, he sounds like he spits the whole dictionary and thesaurus
from "the greatest pacman victory in history" --
"...good times, good people; all airbrushed on a collapsible easel..."

The track is called 'Shut Down' by 'Push Button Objects ft. Aesop Rock'
How did you not know that it's Aesop. One of the best underground rhymers... Flow so smooth.
If the audience actually knew what he was spitting about that'd cool.. But.. They most likely don't. Who knows what he's spitting 99.9% of the time? Not me. He is the deepest ever. I love analyzing his lyrics.
He’s up there with charles hamilton as a freestyler
This isn't a freestyle. He wrote this.
It is still pretty sick.
Freestyles are pre-written. Off the dome's aren't pre-written.
Oh shit. This comment is 12 years old.
@@Blue-nm7zv hell yeah homie! 🤙

This guy is a genius! 😩🔥🤞🏾
most likely the most intelligent hip-hop artist.
LET'S GOOOOO
Agreed, man.
A genius won`t brag about being one.
+ There is different definitions of a genius.
That's farcically ludicrous, sir.
Anyone wondering this verse is mostly from Push button objects - shut down, also in this vid here /watch?v=5k1xbLNnygc

Must be easy to freestyle with a vocabulary.... How does he not release three albums a year?
Quality over quantity.
Aesop is actually a really busy dude, right now he's working on a soundtrack for a film, releasing Impossible Kid, and he's making a comedy web series based on his album; Impossible Kid.
