I really like that Lee gives a brief intro about himself and his trade in each video.
Sadly, 1 myth has been has been shattered. At @2:27. He says he must hurry because he must be at home
at a certain time. I always assumed that his shop was in his back yard!

Hi, Wes. I enjoy watching you work and describe the process as well as functions of all the parts when repairing woodwind/brass mechanisms.
Brass and metalworking isn't my thing, except for a brush with jewelry/ring making and production for a friend a few years back, and high school metal shop classes.
My main hobby for decades was making scale ship models for museums using original shipyard blueprints. A lot of the tools and techniques carry over into wind instrument overhaul and repair, and I dedicate all of my shop time now to rehabbing vintage clarinets as a hobby, specialising in Normandy and Noblet grenadilla horns.
Your videos are a great help because I have always been self-taught. Thanks for passing on your knowledge and love for bringing vintage horns back to life.
I've learned so much from your videos, it almost feels like an online apprenticeship, even though I've been on this rock for 71 years! Have a great 2024.

Incredible work. I don't do this type of work but I appreciate an excellent craftsman as I try to be for my customers. I saw you using the Mini Z dent machine and something struck me. When you compounded the area it looked striated from all the longitudinal work you did removing the dents. would it be possible to rotate the wheel on the Mini Z 90 degrees and then use it to roll around the tube to get those striations out and any small dents?
I feel that would make your job easier and the final outcome about as perfect as new.
Thanks for the interesting and great video.

Work from your area only. I can understand that. But "your area"? From earlier this year I saw something that made me think you are in the Amory Ms. area. Is that correct? I am not that far away. Not that I presently have an instrument in need of repair but do sometimes.

You would work much more comfortable with a stand pedestal that is stiffer and bolted to the concrete. Yours flexes too much. I suggest SHS 100x100x6 welded to a large base plate.

Admittedly, this isn't a professional quality instrument. My Question is what will the tone of the repaired instrument sound like compared to how it sounded before it was damaged? My guess is it won't be noticeable because it wasn't that great to begin with. Age 82. Still playing trumpet since age of 10.
