Ladies and Gentlemen...boys and gilrs...or so the opening goes. Formerly the Main Street Electrical Parade; this Disney classic was brought back to California to be the night time parade anchor for Disney's California Adventure. I hope you enjoy.
I'm finding more and more that there's no parade at any disneyland theme park that can compare to this parade. The music, the lights, the whole feeling... it truly is a one-of-a-kind parade. Thanks for uploading this- i love it so much :)
One of my favorite memories as a child is going to Disney California Adventure every night to watch the Electrical Parade!
Same, I can hear my kids in the background cheering - LOL
I remember when I saw this at Walt Disney World back in 1999 or so. I left whistling the Baroque Hoedown. It has a way of never leaving your head! It is very very catchy!
this is a true classic that should have stayed at disneyland. when I was younger, it pretty much touched my heart
OMG I WAS THE ONLY ONE!! fantasmic and electrical parade are what gets me the most
I'm gonna try to put it up on youtube, but a few years back, I found a video my parents taped off TV. It was backstage disney and it a 2 hour special about the creation, and production, and daily running of the parade and how it all works.
Even since it's come back to Disneyland in 2017 and 2019, the parade has changed so much. As much as I am glad that we got a new float with Tinkerbell, and the return of the Snow White and Pinocchio units, I really miss Blue Fairy, and the Dumbo Circus. They were so unique and Blue Fairy in particular had been around since the original version of the parade in 1972, all but a few of the other "original" floats shown here are from 1977. I also miss this version of the soundtrack, even though I have a soft spot for the new one. I only got to see this version of the parade twice, both times at DCA in 2008. I have seen the parade several times since in both Disneyland Park, and Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom, but its just not the same as the one I remember from when I was younger.
The original is the best
I love this parade soo much!! I can't believe they took it away!! this was the best parade ever!!! why can't they bring it back?? they really need to bring it back so people who haven't seen it, can have a chance to watch such a magical and wondeful parade!
i went to this parade when i was five. that was the first last time i ever heard this music and saw those lights but till now i had always remembered this tune. now im 20 and suddenly felt the urge to find it. this brings back more memories than i ever knew i had :D
That is awesome
Classic stuff right here..im 37 and will never forget this parade, brings back good childhood memories..the orginal set sits in the back of disneyland, i worked as a courier in 95 and got to see the back of disney for the first time in my life.. as a kid i always wanted to know what was in the back of disneyland..lots of people working let me tell you
I didn't watch Pinnochio as a child and I still loved her. I think thats what was so special about that float, you didn't have to have loved Pinnochio to love the Blue Fairy float.
I bought the DVD of that special last year. I used to watch it on the Disney Channel way back in the day. I love that special!
I wanted to be in this parade when I was little...
and I still do lol :)
Thank you soooo much for posting this video! The music alone makes me happy!! I remember this parade from Disney World - it's the best thing yet!!
OMG I'm tearing up just watching this and listening!! All the sounds, and little bugs and stuff, just so awesome!!! Brings back so many memories of when I was a kid!! THANK YOU FOR POSTING!!!!!
you dont understand if your an absolute disney fanatic. now if you were me you wouldnt mind hearing it every day. everytime i see or hear the parade i start crying. i cant wait to get a job there!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you so much ru42! I haven't seen this in years, it brings back so many memories! The most beautiful parade ever!
Haha your not alone!!! Lol I think what gets me the most is the holiday fireworks... I mean with the 'snow' and all!! Haha I'm getting emotional just thinking about it!!!
But the electrical parade is NOT excluded!! So many memories so much tears!! hehe
Been to 2 of these parades and they are my favorite! Great video! Thanks for sharing.
That Was GRRREAT FUN TO WATCH!!! My Little Girls LOVE IT~!!
I was watching this one time in DCA and the4 peter pan clocktower broke down and whole parade stopped for a half hour! When the finally moved it out of the way there was a huge roar of the audience! It was very fun!
in the newest version of the parade, the blue fairy is being replaced by tinker bell and the fairies, all of the floats are getting a "pixie dust trail" and the pinochio unit is being returned.
And look for me, I'll be the little boy riding the big green Dragon :P
at least im not the only one. i cry at the shows in disneyland. they bring back to many memories
I saw the new version yesterday. I love the new updates and the new float was cute. And...spolier alert...they used the Dreamlights soundtrack, which the reason why they got rid of the Dumbo circus cause you couldn't incorperate the soundtrack to the dreamlights music.
Thank you so much! I have never seen the Electrical Parade and it is great to see it in itsentirety, wow it was ahead of its time, it not that different to Spectromagic and that started in 91. A real treat. Thanks again!
I remember the parade going “Ladies and Gentlemen Boys and Girls I’m Back” on the radio commercials
That line always brings a smile because you know magic is headed your way
Ru, this is by far the best video of the Electrical Parade out there. Thanks!
This was so wonderful! Excellent editing. Well done you! :D Thanks so much for sharing it!
I’m sure Disney’s Eureka a California parade would be the RU42 part in the UA-cam videos to download
Glad to see this Parade back in california, brings back lot of memories....from sounds of the Intro comentary, sounds like this video was filmed the night it returned to Disneyland to the new park Disney's Califorina Adventure.
i misss this so much so happy i work there dream come true if i see this again i would cry clasiic child hood love this parade
Excellent
The Peter Pan float is my favorite :) I love them all! Especially the happy tune
what a beautiful parade disneyland has created!
Amen! Bring the parade back to Disneyland NOW!
Haha only my boyfriend knows this...
But even watching fireworks on here will make me tear up!!! It just makes me SSSOOO emotional! Haha even when I got on Soaring over California and they show the fireworks I tear up!
Disney is the BEST thing ever, the magic will always be there no matter what!!!
*tear*
I think Disney finally realized that this is just the best parade!
It is a classic
Fantastic footage and editing of my all-time favorite parade! Great job!
I usually don't go against Disney, but I have to agree. I want the parade back in Disneyland NOW!
The Prince has spoken!!!
I remember going to see this when the park first opened! We saw this like every night!
@Blu923the2nd - not often someone can stump me with a question. So I googled 'electrical parade disney wiki' to see some lists. Monstro did not appear in any of the parade lists. There is a Pinocchio float that comes before Elliot.
@Blu923the2nd when it was in the parade it came before elliott. (I'm *GUESSING* your talking about the "Pinnocchio Underwater unit which ran until '83 in California "84 in Florida) if you're talking about the lead float in the Pleasure island (which returned to the Anaheinm version of the parade in June 2009, that is actually a Fun BHouse Face
every character say hello to your camara especially mickey, you really was having fun video taping this parade rigth? jajajaja there are so cute.
When I last saw this parade - one of the few times I could - it was in 2005, and those times King Leonidas was still there - and I was so thrilled, I FINALLY got to see King Leonidas... never got to meet him, though.
The last place you could see him, as far as I can tell... so sad. How I miss seventies Disney...
Indeed
holy smokes i remember this parade!! i saw it the 1st time i went to california adventure, i miss it :( i still have some pix of it thankfully!
That's great
you are right, they are driven by people, i have the vhs of the parade when it left disneyland in the late 90's, they were selling it at dland and it showed the people getting into the floats.
this video brought back sooooooo muck memories!thanks and i loved the video! :)
I'm so sad :( She was my favorite and I thought it was by far the prettiest float. I heard rumors that the float might still be in the parade with the rest of the Pinnocchio unit. So hopefully, she's still there!
Happy 50th Anniversary Main Street Electrical Parade!!!!!
i'm glad the MSEP is back!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh yes! I won't be there but I can't wait to see it on UA-cam! Someone post it quick!
The snail, turtle and the bumble bee where the most terrifying part of this thing. Being a little kid and having those things coming at ya, and spinning too...it was a bit much! I miss it tho...its just not the same being in DCA.
Yeah. Those songs were written into the Baroque Hoedown by Don Dorsey in 1977. It used to be longer, when it was in Disneyland.
The Prince has spoken!!!
Awesome!!! Thank you for the memories!!
I just saw this for the first time on saturday since i was like 4 or 5 i love it thx for posting
OH god.. The music is taking me back..
Indeed
yes, snow white and the seven dwarves will be returning this summer and winter
i know it's so sad that some of the people i hang out with are like Walt Disney who? i'm just glad my mom introduced me to disney classics when i was little, and i will with my children in the future :)
Oh my gosh I would DIE if that is true. I miss this so much.
Oh snap, this video was awesome!!!!
omg ur so lucky! im going to disneyland this summer!
It plays nightly (usually) over at Disney's Calif Adventure and has been at the Park since 02 (I think.) I know it has not been showing a lot over the past year - so it could have been closed when you were there. - - RU
I like it!
I was 3 years old when this video was uploaded… I’m now 21. Holy cow.
Its not currently, but starting June 11th it will open at California Adventure again.
I remember this being at Disneyland since I was like 9 or 8 years old!
@ru42 Monstro was in the "Pinnochio Underwater" unit from 1977-1984 only at the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World and Disneyland.
I love the editing! This must have been when the parade first came back 5 years ago.
@Blu923the2nd - I see what you are talking about on p133. If it is Monstro I would assume he would follow the Pinocchio float and before the Elliott float. OK, dug up more info. Monstro appeared at the time of the America On Parade (so added 76/77) and was retired in 1983.
i know right! i've never seen the holiday fireworks before though
I have 3 versions of it on my iPod. I even have the 5:12 version that was a old musical segment that I can't recognize.
The Prince has spoken!!!
@Blu923the2nd he came before Elliot althgh that float was only in the parade from '77 '83 when Disneyland's version returned in '85 the Pleasure Island floats replaced it.
Amen! It doesn't look as impressive as it should in the wide-open DCA streets as opposed to Main Street, with the forced perspective and more crowding to make it all seem larger.
It's just like how I remembered it!
Beauty goes on
This parade brought back lots of childhood memories when disney tickets were like 30 bucks or so to get in compared to the high jacked prices of today lol...and this electrical parade belongs back to DISNEYLAND!!!!...not california adventure >=/
THIS IS SO COOL! Have you seen my video of it in Disney World?
I noticed that too. Isn't that wild? I think they're trying to be more diverse, or something. lol.
The Prince has spoken!!!
To an exceptional child of 6 this was an absolute nightmare. I begged my folks to take me back to the hotel. It was like being forced to beleive in Santa again, but by a professionall death squad.
yea, i've tried that but it took forever to get to the rife because all the sidewalks were crowded and blocked off
I'd really love to see where i the world they keep all this stuff during the day.
If I ever hit the Lotto, I would go work in this parade for free. Or better yet donate my paycheck to admit kids into the park who were less fortunate. This parade rocks!
The last time it ran was in August...its coming back in summer again but with some major changes unfortunately.
Wow. I guess I'll have to beg for California Adventure tickets.
Im going to miss Blue Fairy so much..its crazy to think that she wont be opening the parade anymore :(
@skiny145 if by bring it ALL back you mean EVERY float that has ever been in the parade, that would be impractical for a few reasonsns 1) too expensive to build new versions of retired units. Parking the floats (at least at Disneyland between parades on a 2 parade night is somewhat difficult as there is only so many parking spaces available behind Town Square (between parades the floats park right behind Space Mountain
One of my favorite parade theme music backgrounds. Brings back a great memory of myself at the Disney World electircal light parade. Is it still in Florida?
Nice pelvic thrusts, Mickey.
the song at the beginning is called (baroque hoedown)
This parade is wonderful and bring back lots of memories! However, after having seen the amazing Electrical Parade Dreamlights in Tokyo, the MSEP really looks old and outdated to me now... I think it's time for this parade to step aside to a brand new one (no Spectromagic please...)
One of my favorite parts of this parade was when Pete's Dragon (whatever its name is) would turn "invisible" and Elliot would have the crowd say "RazzleDazzle" to get him to reappear...Did he do it this time, or did he stay lit up? Did you just not catch it on camera?
They added this to walt disney world now!!!
I might be in this...
I'm auditioning for a dancing position in this parade :D
@ru42 Really? In my first edition book of Disneyland: Then, Now, and Forever, there is a picture of a Monstro float on the Electrical Parade page. Perhaps it's a really old, forgotten, float?
Great video....I dont really understand why its such a big deal to people that it is here or there...i mean at least its here in general!
it was not removed ive just been and it was there lol
*GASP* My dream!
Are you serious about riding Elliot?! You're Pete in the parade?!
If you are, then you must remember all of those times we made Elliot blink out from under you at random. Hmm? :)
jberlotti:
You have heart and good will towards man kind, that is to children.
When I was a boy living in Europe I dreamed of one day going to Disney. I had a book I would look at and imagine I was there. I now live in Canada and have been many times. Took my children when they were 7months and 2 years old. They can't wait to go back. The Electric Parade is one of the best parts about Disney. God bless Walt Disney for having the vision to create a wonderland that has touched so many!
oh ok thanks!
And techno was born. :O
I'd loooove to work there..
But you gotta wonder..
How dizzy are the guys that drive the turtle and all the other spinny animals at the end of the night? XD
