    I love wheel weights. I run the ssd brass rings, over 95+ grams per wheel total. Really helps the linked suspension articulate/drop down in those holes when you need it to.
    Hardbody, weighted wheels, heavy shock oil in the rear, lighter oil up front 👌

    The reason I choose weighted Wheels over adding any Brass, because I love multi universal rigs. If I was going to build a dedicated rock crawler, I might consider adding a small amount of Brass. But I would add the majority of the weight, in the Wheels. Just to be able to do some lighter weight scale trail running in the winters months.

    If the added weight inside the tires would allow the rubber to mold and conform to the surface it's crawling over, it would have so much more traction by increasing it's "footprint." People who do the real technical offroading and crawling, air down so their tires get that extra large "squish" at the contact surface.

    The weight in the wheels is great, but I prefer the weight on the axle / at the portal ... The weight of heavy wheels with centrifugal force will not be very good for bearings and overall for the engine and other components ... But why not ... I'm holding my thumb

    • @RCReviewChannel
      @RCReviewChannel  2 роки тому +11

      True, but the price ramps up very steeply with machined brass. And it's almost impossible to hit 1+ lb. Wheels can be transferred to another car easily too.
      On our TRX4, we've had wheel weight for 4 years. Slow crawlers with good drivetrains seem ok with heavy wheels.

    I think of heavy r/c wheels much like I do bicycle wheels... Lower mass equals better performance, by a large margin. Adding weight in portals world provide an overall better performance boost.

Everyone said the spinning force of the weight would not work. I replied spinning force? These are crawlers what spinning force? But every 13 to 30 year old on FB knows everything. I could not get anyone to see how the weighs around the center of the wheel gave the lowest possible COG.

      If you can demonstrate how exactly it's bad for trail crawlers, your knowledge is welcome. Otherwise generalizations are often easy but not applicable. I certainly understand how it's bad for my XMaxx, Slash of full scale, but can't prove how it's bad for a vehicle that spends its time going under 2mph.
      Changing over axles, covers, rotors, and all else to get the desired weight can be very expensive. And in the end, the end-result may not be as good. So throwing out a wheel-weight solution may not be the best ideal in all cases.
